🔴 LIVE: Best of Blackadder Goes Forth! | Blackadder | BBC Comedy Greats 0327AM 22.12.23 the schmalziest and tug on the heartstrings kindda ending, yer mean? not my kind of ending.... but i enjoy Blackadder, whether the noble coward of the 1st series (minus the dead badger) to the cynical army chappie desperately trying to get out of being murdered. which is, basically, the whole premise and kernel of Blackadder's entire existence. granted, the final series sees the entire cast become that little bit more insane. and it shows.... just as absurd and near the knuckle as allo allo ever was. and even more depressing, for all it's absurdity, probably more akin to the facts of the matter than so-called "based on a true story" cinematic production eg: 1917. which aired last night on the beeb.
That little tidbit that Darling has a sweetheart waiting for him back home. Or that George joined up along with his entire boarding school class and he's the only one left. Absolutely heartbreaking.
They gave their lives for their country and now the government is giving the country to the invading illegals crossing the channel in inflatable dinghies from France.
Best series of the best comedy ever. Absolutely loved Atkinson, Edmondson, Mayall, Robinson, Fry, Richardson and of course the immensely talented Hugh Laurie. I doubt we'll ever see such an incredible comedic cast together again in our lifetimes. I hope I'm wrong. RIP Rik
The very end of Season 4 still gives me chills. Perfect. A fitting homage that conveyed the dark and futile side of that war in particular. There was a naivety amoung so many who joined in WW1 contrasted by a horror few could imagine today.
85 and 86 we were posted to London (from Australia) and at school we did the lines from show night before. Rik Mayal and The Young Ones 😂 I can't explain how huge they were to us as teenagers. Blackadder II at that point.

@@gedhoughton9523 Best of Blackadder Goes Forth! | Blackadder | BBC Comedy Greats 1633pm 19.1.24 about as dark a humour as you can get, one surmises. but let's not fanny about, here. i dont give a fig for their patriotism or their insane notions of for the nation. a complete and utter waste of time manpower, lives and misplaced misery - in that life's cruddy enough. i rest my case (again!)
I’m a huge Rick Mayall fan but I didn’t like the breaking of the wall. It turned bizarrely pantomime in a way I didn’t enjoy, but I know others did so each to their own 😄
1989, 35y ago. It hasn't aged at all, still fresh....true quality
Series 4 had the best ending to any comedy series of all time.

Absolutely heartbreaking.
Not only in comedy but ever
This ending always tears me up. Bless the brave soldiers who gave their lives for us xx
Well it was either get shot by get the Germans or your own officers
They gave their lives for their country and now the government is giving the country to the invading illegals crossing the channel in inflatable dinghies from France.
Who gave their lives so that Blair, Cameron and Starmer could flood the UK with mass immigration.
That's not the point. They gave their lives to preserve imperial interests. It was an utter tragedy .
@suwaidajalal They didn't think so, otherwise they wouldn't have fought.
It's like the end of MASH. Forty years and I still tear up. Long live Blackadder.

And Tim McInnerny
22:10 I love how Baldrick uses way more words than needed to ask “how did the war start?” and you can see Blackadder getting more and more impatient 😂
It's called acting.
In another time and another life, Baldrick could've been the perfect history undergraduate.

Blackadder and Faluty Towers, two of the best comedy shows to come out of the U.K. in my book.
And what about the Dad's Army?
That ending never loses its impact. The whole bloody war was a miserable waste of lives for absolutely nothing.
That is your opinion, it was to stop German domination of Europe
@@Digmen1 and all those lives given push it back 20 years till they tried it again
A wonderful series. Blackadder was the best 🤣👍🤣👍🤣
We will never forget
From the start of series 1 to the final scene were inspired comedy from some of Britain's greatest minds.🎉 thank you
Masterpiece of comedy - “Aahhh excellent! First Class! “
Saddest piece of comedy genius ever!
*Rowan Atkinson, Tony Robinson, Hugh Laurie, Rik Mayal and Ade Edmonson all in the same room… damn.*
You forgot someone rather important 😢😢
Fried bacon for breakfast.???
Steven Fry???????,
How could you forget him???.😮😢

That ending is an incredible piece of television history
Blackadder Goes Forth is my favorite comedy series of all time.
I could watch it again and again,
The script writing is amazing.
Ben Elton!
couldn't believe that laurie would be playing Dr. house in future and atkinson would be world's comedy icon

My great grandad was a sergeant in the British army. He survived the great war. How? god only knows.

Well dark humour. Remember, it’s the lads who enlisted who are the real heroes, not the officers sending them in from 35 miles away.

Simply untrue.@@gedhoughton9523
@@gedhoughton9523officers had a higher death rate than non-commissioned

I love these black adder videos and Mr bean in general and grew up watching Mr bean real and cartoon.those were the days :D
This is gold
I’m off to Hartlepool to buy a pair of exploding trousers 😂😂😂
Great comedic writing
Fry is BIG!
Tackle out 😅
Look there’s a little tomato.
I hope they don't follow-through and remake this series.
The most poignant end to a brilliant comedy ever
Did any soldiers draw sketches in the trenches?
The sad ending of a comedy
Rik mayall just stole the show and rowan atkinson admitted it aswell
Disagree. You sound like my Dad saying that one of The 2 Ronnies was better than the other. It's teamwork.
Is he the inspiration for Colonel Flack from MASH?

1914-1917 😂
How come Martin Brunt wasn't fired
😂😂😂
The end makes you think of those poor souls fighting for Ukraine.
Moustache bushy enough? Nowadays you wouldn’t know if that was a man or a woman
And go bald recited yeah we're only Barker didn't get one what a shambles sums up the country
Lord flashheart is the single greatest character in the history of comedy
