In 1983 their comedy hip hop song "Cooky Puss" achieved local success and propelled them into the full transition to a hip hop group. In 1985 they would go on tour with Madona as a hip hop opening act and in 1986 they released their debut album into hip hop named License to Ill which was the 1st hip hop album to top the billboard top 200 charts.
This is a good tune to start with. Beastie Boys are incredible, and very diverse in their sound over the years. They were always pushing the limits and experimenting.

The Beasties started out in 1979 as a punk band, named Young Aborigines, changed their name in 1981 to Beastie Boys. They were friends with some of the DJs. They decided to start doing rap, around 1982, and in 1983, as a joke, released their first rap song, a track called Cookie Puss, about people crank calling a local ice cream parlor. They released a string of singles, and toured with Madonna in 1985, before they even had an album. First album, called License To Ill, in 1986. Second album was in 1989, called Paul’s Boutique, which some say holds the record for the most samples … 105 songs sampled, and many argue there are up to, or over, 300 samples used for the album, including 24 on the last track, alone. They said they blew 1/4 million on licensing rights. Paul’s Boutique is considered by many to be their best album. Their third album (and my fave) is Check Your Head, released in 1992, from which this song was released as the second single, following Pass The Mic. They were legendary, influencing tons of rappers, and giving several their start, including LL Cool J, Eminem, and a number of others across several genres.
I think there needs to be either more video shows or radio shows with classic hip-hop cause I can’t believe this dude and people his age don’t know about the Beastie Boys and how influential they were. My first concert was a Run-DMC Beastie Boys concert. I was a Beastie Boys freak. The youth doesn’t realize what a phenomenon they were.
The Bestie Boys started as a Brooklyn punk band, then went straight hip hop during the time of Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, Run DMC, early, early rap. After their first couple albums they started to incorporate more Rock and punk back into their hip hop.

9:50 you weren't the only one playing Tony Hawk. Those first couple games were really something.
I get chills whenever I listen to this song! 😅 The Beastie Boys were a force from the beginning ! 💪 Dj Hurricane with the sinister beat! 😮
Loved this reaction ❤! They have so many great songs. Intergalactic is prob my fav, you’re gonna dig it!
Legends!!!! Loved your reaction!! Can't wait to see more of your BBoys reactions!! subscribed! Genuine Goats ............. RIP Adam............
Legends. Licensed to Ill. Do the whole album there’s not a skipper on it 🔥
I LOVE that you love this. Your reaction to this made me smile.
Had so much fun watching you discover the beasties!!!
its so fun to see someone else jamming out to a song I love ✌love what'cha want and beastie boys
The Bestie Boys started as a Brooklyn punk band, then went straight hip hop during the time of Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, Run DMC, early, early rap. After their first couple albums they started to incorporate more Rock and punk back into their hip hop.
That dance with the should jigginess...cracked me up.
