Hello everyone! TH-cam now supports 5.1 Surround Sound on some TVs. I will be mixing all my future 4K nature videos with surround sound to create a more immersive experience. With this video, you'll be able to check that your speakers are working properly and that your audio is playing correctly in 5.1 surround sound. Is there any way to watch this in actual 5.1 on TH-cam, without having to download the video and play it on a desktop player? AFAIK TH-cam doesn't support 5.1 sound on any platforms.
Hi! 5.1 audio is only supported in the TH-cam TV App. The desktop player does not have the option to activate it, only the TV app on all 2021 and later TVs, Chromecast, Apple TV, Roku, and most Fire TV devices, as well as Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One X, Xbox One S, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5. I have a Samsung S95B TV, and I can see the option to enable or disable 5.1 in the video.

if youre using PC and a web browser, forget it. Its purposely disabled.... TH-cam is sabotaging PC users who use their PCs as media centers. Oly wy o get surround out of you tube is to use a built-in-tv app. It wasnt always this way.... which is what reveals this to not be a technical issue, but rather a business decision on youtube's part.

To be clear, it isn't from 2021 on. As long as your TV has the TH-cam app and can passthrough surround it's good to go. My 2018 TCL can get it.
