I am an ordained Zen Buddhist Priest, so I have basic training in divination of that tradition such as I Ching and Lot Drawing. But I have also recently incorporated some pagan practices into my process so I am looking forward to learning more about runes from a scholar such as yourself. Thank you!

The fact that you have created this, that it's got your knowledge and studies, both as a occultist and as an archaeologist (not in the sense that past people used Rune divination methods, but meaning that you know how a ship burial is made and many cultural nuances) makes it even better!!! My ancestral spirit Guardian, told me you need to pay attention and understand this!!!! I been telling you this for the past two days. Lol I am Irish and Scandinavian, and my ditties are cernunnos, pan, loki, Hecate, hel, and Lilith. This helps me a lot, I have been wanting to learn to read runes for years now. I have been getting pulled hard to get a set of runes. This helps a lot, I needed to hear this. ♡
This spread definitely depicts my life right now. Job closing down after 21 years of working there. I'm 51. Afraid of getting back into the workforce. "Too old to be hire-able" fears. Arith. Your videos are great and always informative. I really want to learn the methods of reading runes. However, I think a detailed description of what each position and what it can mean without actually doing a reading, would give all of us a better understanding.
In the elder futhark there are 9 runes with no reversal. I think this is not a coincidence when you consider the importance of the number 9 to the norse.
Interesting that I would interpret this reading differently, but very similar. More like: the comfort and safety of the past put the person in a situation where they didn't developed enough skills to move foward. And that creates a moment of change, more like a choice to change or to stay. But there is a need to change, be fulfilled or not, to change the pattern of not looking to yourself with kindness and attention. Its needed to re-evaluate the person theyself in other to become who they want to be. And that will not please everyone, just like you said😂, nor solve every thing immediately. But it will put the person in a better position as they will have more skills to navigate the life journey. Different, but similar.
Thnx for sharing!, it's so intresting how I may read they same runes in this method, with a different interpretation, and how different interpretations can be made depending the person we're reading, and the tresspasing feelings on the moment. Sry for my bad writing.
This might seem like an obscure question, but we know historically that norsemen and volva used runes for divination, do you happen to know if bone casting was another form of divination they utilized? I would be interested to learn more...

Tarot terminology used here is very different culturally and historically from anything rune based. What is subjective on your videos and what academic. Much appreciated anyway
Hello there Mr. Lawrenson :D how have you been? Indeed, there are little evidences of divination with the runes in the past, in fact I would say there are no evidences at all. Rune divination is quite the modern thing, appearing in the XX century with a greater development in the 80s and it is indeed drawn from the tarot, especially the notion of having an "inverted meaning". The only evidences of "signs" / "characters" having been used for divinatorty purposes by Germanic peoples is mentioned by Tacitus, but he never said it was the runes, and in fact his account was written before the runes were even introduced to Germanic peoples. That particular account is often the only evidence for the historical use of runes as a divination medium, but it's just speculation. I enjoy learning the archaeological perspectives you bring. I recently bought my son and molijner with runes upon them. I was pondering about what I might say about those found in British graves. Their context. To keep things simple for him...I decided to ask him about Thor. He said that he got on with adventures and things, when others sat around talking. He was also always fascinated by Thors end and what it means to go out well. Anyway. Thank you for your work Mr Hager!!
