This is what rock was, calling attention to the problem. Shinedown is one of the few who is still actually good.
Right we used to have Rage Against the Machine.
@@sunnymalloryShinedown has been consistent in that aspect of speaking about current issues. RATM is consistent in their ideology. They "spoke truth to power" when they disagreed with those in power. Now that their people are the establishment, they rage no more.
You mean Rage for the Machine
AMEN
This album completely lived up to the hype! Shinedown gave us an album that was critical of our current society but also told us to not give up hope that things can and will get better if we truly want them to.
@SkyLight119 It's always darkest before the dawn

I like it! Shinedown have come out swinging. We need our rock bands to speak-up more than ever
I believe some of the best artists r empaths. They can feel the pain in the world. Find the perfect words to mesh with perfect instrumentals to give the voiceless underdogs a voice ❤
Hell yeah, they just came out swinging like Tom, this is right up there with his song "the system" and "brainwashed", absolutely love it.
Brent was pushing the jab early on. Then deleted the IG post though Boo!!
@@Raidtank What did it say?
@@j.franklin21 Liberalism is a mental disorder
Every word in this song is used so damn well not a single word was wasted and "Desperation, the wrong information" is very underrated part of the song because people really do just pull shit out there ass to prove a point or to convince somebody
This has to be the absolute best written song. Calling out all sides and not holding punches. Love it Shinedown.
No u wrong dead dont die is the best song ever!!!!!😡
I mean the song is obviously calling out one side more than the other here haha
@@jrad6161 Not really. He's attacking the US political tribalism on all sides for brainwashing the masses to think one extreme or the other.
@@inny74 what parts in this song are they calling out the right? In this song alone they call out the left burning down cities in the blm riots. Critical race theory. Closest thing to both sides i heard is the selling of fear.

i think this entire album should be to the soundtrack of a movie 🤘
Or at the very least a long-form video for the album like a few other bands have done😊
It's the soundtrack of life right now
"If victimhood is currency than you won't starve." Love it
Tell that to the left.
@@jessesimmons4503 everyone plays the victim, regardless of political stance.
North Korea never victim. Great leader approve of song title. 🇰🇵
@@jessesimmons4503 that line was pointed at the left!
@Phoenia. That’s an interesting take. I don’t think victimhood means what you think it means if you believe that. Please explain how the right plays victim?
This isnt just an amazing song, the message is SO necessary rn.
The people that need to hear the message to this song won't listen though
@@thecarsonigen yeah I guess but that is like saying the organizations that do this and point this out, are pointless because no one will listen. Even so it is still a good reminder for everyone who does here it.
I can’t stop saying thank you to Shinedown…. but these guys deserve it every time. Absolute legends.
The most powerful song of this generation.
"You maybe woke but your not awake" pure poetry
Ikr woke culture man…
You’re the type this song is about. Congrats. 🙄

That double kick in the pre chorus is such a nice touch.
Everyone arguing about politics, then this guy is actually here for the music 😂
Love this song. Everyone should know what this Is all aimed at. Good for shinedown for not being afraid to speak up
I've noticed a lot of bands are doing this more and more. It's amazing how many are willing to speak out.
"Everyone should know what this Is all aimed at."
Yes, its aimed at all sides. not just one.
@@inny74 LOL
@@inny74 I’d say “act out loud, and rattle the cage, and remove any doubt that you’re enraged… like A FOOL I guess at the end of the day, ya might be woke but not awake” is aimed at a very specific group of people. Probably the ones that have literally ended up burning cities in America.
Also… “if victimhood is currency then you won’t starve” is pretty straightforward. Who do you think that refers to?
reminds me
a lot of SLT - Glory 🤘
Listening to this again on the 4th, and the line “who doesn’t love a parade?” hits much harder now
With gasoline and grenades.....sums up this country right about now unfortunately 😕
Art imitates life.
I think this was probably written during those riots when protestors were literally burning down businesses.
reminds me
a lot of SLT - Glory 🤘
I think this one is my favorite from the album. Top 3 for sure. So many good lines. For some reason, I especially love “who doesn’t love a parade, with gasoline and grenades?”
I’ve been having a lot of bands I like release underwhelming albums this last year. I think because they are trying to sing about what’s happened the last few years, even though it doesn’t necessarily fit their style. I’m so glad that Shinedown came through with this banger of an album.
This and zombified as well
A TRUE American rock band that gets it. Thank you SO much for this song. One of the few talented, gifted guys out there!
"You might be woke but not awake"..... so friggin accurate of the times we are in!!!!
Dude I feel ya
Hell yeah
"If victimhood was currency, then you won't starve." That describes my entire Freshman class.
Beware, fools. To take that line at face value is to go against the massage of the rest of the song. It doesn't matter if you think yourself above woke, but you still ain't at all awake to the real issue. The fire you might just be pumping more breath into.
@@AstridRuna wokism is a cancer, bud. The song is about the BLM riots that caused billions in damage last summer. This isnt rocket science.
Very fun sounding song! One of my favorites from Shinedown.
Dude I’ve heard the whole album and this is like my new favorite song this is going to blow up wonderful job dudes!
"Hey guys, the world's ending and this may be the last so we have to kill this and make it the best then we can rest."
it sounds like a 10 year old produced it after they recorded it in a bathroom, the fuck you talking about?
I think I've heard this song 15 times already since the 1st lol
reminds me
a lot of SLT - Glory 🤘 !!!
My God...that rhythm or style in the first 42 seconds was stunning! This might be one of their favorite songs from Shinedown.
"your theory might be critical but whose in charge? if victimhood is currency then you won't starve." is honestly such an accurate line
no it's not. it just shows Shinedown is a bunch of idiots. critical race theory is literally just... teaching accurate US history instead of the whitewashing and denial going on now.
Who isn't sick of feigned outrage and the constant competition of 'The Biggest Victim'.
sounds awfully racist to me lmao
Proving them right with that one @@BobbyVanStone
So many good lines in this song. "woke but not awake" and my favorite, "if victimhood is currency, then you won't starve" Love Shinedown
One of my favorites is the "say your pledge of allegiance to the flag underneath your feet"
Both sides are playing victim. Blue is playing victim in race. Red is playing victim of the left. Cause realistically, if all the ideas were red, it would be a disaster and same goes for blue.
Rock right now is returning to what rock is all about: saying fuck you to the idiots and the mainstream. Shinedown has big ass balls, and I stand with them.
Yes, enjoy your imagine dragons rock band
@@smacking-guts what does this song offend you, you one of those 'sensitive souls' the song is aimed at? 😅
Conceptually this album reminds me a lot of American Idiot
Eew
I love the way this album shows the duality of our society. Definitely my favorite song in the album 👍
Exactly. Unfortunately, people will right this off as a "right wing" album because it's easier to focus on the things they dont like rather than the other half they do.
@@NewKillerStar_34 I’d say that referencing violent protest actions that literally leave “America Burning” are pretty key to this song. But tell me the truth. Or tell me a lie. Tell me what I need to get out of this room alive. Or at least not cancelled. Right?
@@tomjohnson745 the key to not getting cancelled is to truly not give a fuck about it. 🤷♂️
@@tomjohnson745 fun fact there were many groups at the riots many right wing ones as well... A right winger burned down that police station but hey look over at those leftists... Hey stop this wokeness while we roll back rights and then start the foundation for becoming a theocracy
@@NewKillerStar_34 that's because it IS a right wing tip off. They saw an opportunity to sell out to the wrong side of history. shinedown really fell off with this very poorly produced album.
This song and planet zero are very fitting for the times we live in. Keep speaking for the people who have had enough of the 💩.
omg, Shinedown has the best lyrics but this one... ohhh one of the best, absolutely
I really love the way that "pray for your family" was replaced with "pray for your sanity", almost as if your entire family died in the process of this tarnished state and your only left with what's in your head to keep you company
A song with a finger on the pulse of our country. It’s a sad, mad world right now. We need to fix it.
Happy Birthday Canada, you get the new Shinedown album for your present!!!!!!!
Shinedown is like the best of the best wine and with every year they get better. I love their lyrics, I love their music, I love their energy, I love how just one song can skyrocket the mood and make you smile and sing/hum along.
Truer words were never spoken!! I Wish that they'd perform this at a concert.
I feel like I now know what a electric/synth banjo sounds like and I am absolutely loving it, such a fun sound
My actual reaction to the first five seconds of this song "... ... ... Wait, is that AN ELECTRIC BANJO!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!"
I love them so hard LOL
For me it sounded and gave me a bit of a circus vibe. Honestly, it fits, cause our government is full of 🤡🤡
This literally couldn't be a more accurate representation of America in 2022. Thank you for putting out some brutally honest music, and not caring what the radical left may think about it.
This song is about BOTH sides that are too far gone to listen to the other, not just the left or the right.
@@jpraelster93 just saying ..I never saw the right literally burning stuff.
Not just the radical left, but the far right. The band has stated this is about division from both sides. Pitting one side against the other is what is ruining this country and world
@@JoePro I never saw the left storming the capitol to try and hang the vice president.
@@jpraelster93 me neither. Never saw them try to hang him. What I did see was 400 "mostly peaceful protests" from the left, and 1 "mostly peaceful protest" from the right.

As soon as I saw the title I knew I was gonna love the fire in this one.
And ooh boy I was right. It's hard to find a song that encapsulates this feeling. But y'all somehow did it. Truly amazing.
Rise Against is another great band with themes and music like Shinedown. They tend not to be as heavy as songs like this, but they have great music with similar messages.
God Bless Shinedown. A band with integrity and backbone. Carry on gentleman!
Banjo sounds very good. I like it when the banjo riff changes to a heavy guitar riff
I'm dancing to keep from crying. While America's burning 🇺🇸 🔥
Last nite show in west valley with popa roach was absolutely amazing... shinedown forever..❤
That's how you know it's working. Main stream record labels are signing off on songs like this. Which means the we're winning the culture war.
It just means parallel economies are forming which is the next necessary step to move to a hot war. It's definitely gonna get a LOT LOT worse before it gets better.
You can tell Shinedown was pissed during this entire album, and this song just exemplifies that feeling perfectly.
THIS SONG ROCKS!!!!
Yes dab me up
Best concept album in a long time
It’s true Shinedown, it really sucks watching America die before my very eyes!
I wasn’t expecting this to be a rock song.
And I wasn’t expecting this to slap as hard as it did.
Can't stand what is going on in America. We are all Americans. We have to fix America. Don't care if you are Blue or Red. We have to fix America 🇺🇸
I strongly agree, I am a Proud American who was born & raised in Texas. Rather find a Solution & Common Ground rather than picking a side & blaming/complaining all the time.
It’s not a left vs right issue it’s a 99% vs a 1% issue.
China and Russia are using social media to divide USA d these old politicians don’t understand the problem
Red and blue make the decisions, iys hard fir them to cone to agreement, we need independent people to fix this nation, like how our founding fathers intended.

This song is about the 2020 riots, where have you been?
It’s so dang catchy too!
🤘🏻💞🙏🏻
A good point with their lyrics always.
I find it interesting that people on both sides of the US political spectrum think this song is about the other. I dont know Shinedown and I don't know their political leanings, but I would guess that you all are correct. I've seen them six times in concert. I only mention that because each time I've seen them, they've only talked about unity, love and to stop hate. They always have a part in the show where they ask you to meet and shake hands with the people next to you.
This country is divided for sure. My guess is Shinedown is calling everyone out on their hypocrisy.
hmm... you might be right, but let's remember the offending side is *STILL* the conservative bigot s'ht, those are the first offenders who didn't mind their own business, the rest is reaction, and maybe overreaction, but it has moral differences. It's the conservative sh't that has to go, then the reaction will also dwindle.
@@furrball agreed, but i have to point out a majority of the fanbase is right-leaning. I believe the lyrics were manipulatively written to be interpreted as them "dunking on the libs"
@@JL32506 not all, but quite a lot. conservatives are overall quite unified in their beliefs, way more than the democrats. 70% of conservatives still believe the election was stolen, for example, even when there isn't a lick of evidence to suggest that.

"You might be woke but not awake" Lyrics of the year!
@@AmazedBunion what? lol
People who take this as a right wing dog whistle-on either side of the political spectrum-are missing the point of the song. Shinedown isn’t simply calling out the left for being “woke,” because truly the woke culture in our society is no longer about political correctness. It’s about how the bipartisan nature of our democracy has polarized Americans’ worldview to the point of obsessing over if politicians are blue or red enough-If you aren’t with us, you’re against us. America has become a battleground of ideologies. That’s the point of this song.

THIIIIIIIIIIS.
It's calling out both sides for the ramped up rhetoric that is literally tearing the whole world apart right now.
Truth is never as simple as people want it to be.
And lacking the ability to actually deal with the systemic issues in this fuckin place, people are just finding someone convenient to hate for it.
@@chromefacedkarma You make some great points here. They are absolutely calling out the “woke” and “victimhood” mentality from the left that have literally left America burning.
But you are completely correct in that the point of this song, actually the album as a whole, is to find some middle ground.
Shinedown has been so good about bringing people from all walks of life together… through love, respect and understanding. Drug addicts. Alcoholics. People suffering from Mental Health issues. All of it. We gotta band together and succeed together.
But it’s pretty apparent there is absolutely no place for violence. Stop burning your communities. Stop using your anger against the establishment to be an excuse to rage against your fellow “little guys” that are just trying to get by.
Yea, they 100% call out the far left here, but the message of the song and album is so much deeper. I hope we can all get it.
@@chromefacedkarma Woke is about controlling and enforcing political correctness. I don't know why you think they are impartial in any way now.
