The Tam-Tams! Wow, that brings me back. I've spent some Sundays at the Tam-Tams in my younger days. I've always thought that the crowd at the Tam-Tams was a good representation of Montreal: people from all walks of life (hippies, families, LARP players, couples, bongo players, students, retirees, etc.) coming together harmoniously for a day of fun and relaxation.

I was at Tam Tams recently. Wow wow wow...Insanity! The energy was the best I've experienced. Absolutely loved it! To attend, you must not be judgmental, and be open to rubbing elbows with fellow humans from all walks of life. Just enjoy the vibes.

Exactly. It has a fun vibe. You can bring a picnic with you and interact with people.

We try to go up several times a year, and Sundays are *always* reserved for Tam Tams. Hard to imagine a nicer way to spend an afternoon!

I started attending the Tam's over twenty years ago, when I moved here. The Tams are great, BUT when one drummer starts a particular beat, or particular run, and EVEYBODY follows, and it is like a tidal wave of drumming that courses through the park. Everyone drumming the same rift or run. It becomes an out of body experience !! You can hear it all the way up the mountain. There is a particular spot up the mountain, marked by a burned out campfire that has been used before, near a very large rock. It overlooks the park to the East side. You can see all the way to the Big O and the Port of Montreal. Up here you can hear the battle cry of the drums sounding below you.

It has been here for decades. It is always fun to go there on Sunday afternoons.
Some friends of mine playfully called it "The Baboon Fest", LOL! 🙂

I remember in the 80s they used to put a sign up on the statue that said "AAA". I jokingly asked if it stood for "American Automobile Association". I don't remember what it stood for, maybe Association of Autonomous Artists....

Every Sunday while the good weather lasts!

Officially it debuts first Sunday in May & ends last Sunday in October. It’s not uncommon if it starts in mid to late April weather permitting. It’s basically 6 months of the year.
