Among Us has recently gone from little known indie game - to worldwide phenomenon in just a few months. From 50 concurrent players to 3 million. While we're all enjoying the entertainment side of the game, I wanted to also take a look at the lessons we can draw from the journey of the developers - InnerSloth, a small team of just three people who, not too long ago, were barely getting by trying to keep the game alive. It's a fascinating case study that I think is worth taking a look at.

The thing about all those games is that they will quickly die out once everything gets back to normal. Animal Crossing was big for 3 months then everyone got burnt out of it either because of time travelling or because they completed the game because they had nothing else to do in March. Fall guys is only available on 3 platforms (PC, PS4 and PS5) and that game got big because it went free on PS Plus and you can now only play it but paying £20 and Among US got big because it’s free on Mobile which has a big audience for younger people and streamers influenced it.

Among Us didn't even have 100 downloads for the longest time. So I'm sure the big boom of its success 2.5 years was a huge shock to the developers, especially considering they had a sequel planned. I'm happy more and more indie games are getting love

They need new game modes.
1. Impostor Enmity - impostors don't know who the other impostors are and can kill each. Confirm eject is automatically turned off.
2. Hide and seek - sets the lowest visibility for the impostors. Disables body reports and emergency. Players win by lasting X minutes.
3. Enforcer mode. One of the players is the "police" that if the impostor tries to kill, a shield activates but the police gets lowest visibility and speed lowered for x minutes to which the shield is disabled allowing the impostor to kill him.

The first one actually should be if the imposter tries killing another imposter, the imposter that was getting targeted was going to get killed ends up killing the imposter who was gonna kill them

I love how Andrei changed the theme during the parts to be among us theme tunes
i played the game back in 2018, i found it on the app store and had a great time playing it, there had only been skeld and 2 hats with not too much players, im glad the game is doing pretty great now, it really deservred it, i came back to it in 2019 (7 months later) and they had added alot of stuff and were still working on it, worked out well for them in the end

Tbh through 1 lockdown my friend was like: "Hey there is a cool game download it its called Among Us" 2 months later i see it on twitch
I played it way before, like 2 years ago.
The ping can spike up to 10 thousand. I'm not kidding. People there are quiet and didn't say anything. They just start voting whoever they think they suspect. Quite cold and flat, boring and tasteless. But I still like the character though.
Edit: My brother introduced it to me and we started playing it. And quit quite a long time. Until it became hot again.

@@FishSlapper-sk8pj true. I downloaded Among us 3 times. First was before Polus and the other one (I can't remember now the name), then i found it again while you had to pay for these 2 maps and I downloaded now again because everyone plays it and it is funnier to play with your friends
The popularity of it is insane. I think people just found it one day when they were bored and were like “cool!” It grew because it’s unique and fresh.

@@usernamesarestupid Well i mean yes 50 players was not alot so you would take half a minut to find a game i remember how annoying it was you would get tired alot of the game then people leave the game so we had like 30 players.

Since I am an OG, for more info, when the game was first released, they barely got 5-10 players, one of them which was me and because of the enormous amount of bugs, it was basically unplayable. but eventually, they managed to fix everything so fast and got this lol
