Fred is such an honest man! 😂 “Not going to buy that piece of junk!”
🤣
lol fr
Enjoyed this very informative episode. I honestly thought the value of an instrument would be higher all because it was once owned by a celebrity but I super appreciate Fred's integrity stated from 5:33 - 5:46, "If you have a real piece of junk instrument, it's still a piece of junk." Some people in today's times lack this depth of pure honesty and integrity. I like Fred. Hope he's a regular on this channel when the viewers want "honest" answers to sincere questions. Thank you, Ray & Fred, for sharing your valuable time and knowledge. Take care & have a beautiful day. ☀🎻🙂
I mean, if you sign that gorgeous violin you have purchased, then it’s possible you could sell it for a lot more. You might even be able to get $80 or $90 for it!!! 😍
I feel like you've covered every unique topic in the world! It's fun and I love it!👍🏻✨👑🎻🌞👏🏻💯
This video was really helpful. I have a few violins at home that belonged to my late mother. The first violin is one that she had as a kid and played into adulthood. When I started violin I played on it until I got my own. (I don’t play anymore because I became a classical singer and sold my violin to a friend a few years ago for $200. It was definitely a student violin.) Anyway, I don’t plan to sell my mom’s violin because it has sentimental value. However, the second violin she owned was a significant upgrade and I do want to sell it. Unfortunately, the appraisal papers went missing. I live in West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada where there are no luthiers around that I know of so I think I will take Fred’s suggestion to photograph the instrument, and then send them in an email to a few shops in Vancouver. If I need to go there with the instrument, the drive is only 4-5 hours away. Thanks again.
I took your advice and purchased a Bunnel Kennedy Violin. It will be perfect for me to learn how to play the violin. Thank you!
Thank you Ray and Fred. This video is very informative.
I've bumped into Fred Oster for decades in and around downtown Philadelphia. Great guy.
The editing on this was hilarious 😂

Laughed out loud at the piece of junk part 🤣🤣
Honestly, favorite part. 🤭
"does the owner impact the value?"
- well, last time i tried to buy Paganini's cannon...
Obviously a Guarnieri del Gesù will be pretty darn expensive anyway
I would pay $90 for that instrument, if Ray delivers it personally and gives me a violin lesson. Deal? 😁
I love stone faced Fred. Seems like a fun dude haha
Marketing Tonic is one thing, but it needs more features otherwise the users you get won’t stick.
If you autographed the violin, then maybe it would be worth buying?😂
If I buy the violin does Ray Chen come with it?
Yes to that!!!
Always on trail with Ray❤ 3:02
Auction off that piece of junk violin for charity. Use that star power. "Ray Chen's piece of trash violin charity auction"
Actually yes, great idea!
My violin split the difference. It’s label says it was made by “a student of Stradivarius.” In 1775, by the way. Though, my friend who sold it to me said it was probably made in Germany in the early 1900s. Whatever, it’s loud and is a good boy.
do you edit these videos? i like the humor and timing hahaha
How about $65 🤝 6:45
value goes up if used in recordings? you better start on your new album ray
Hey Ray. What if my violin has a hand written label that says n. Lupot luthier de la musique du roi et de. L'ecole royale de musique Paris 1815.
And I sent 9 pics of the instrument to tarisio in nyc and they said they cant confirm without seeing it in person. What then? Oh and its amazing to play on. Unbelievable powerhouse violin. What then? Lol my fiddle actually says that and its amazing to play on. Hey he was the French stradivari so thats good I guess right? I love my violin. Heres the kicker. I got it off ebay last year from some seller in hanover Germany for 600 bucks. Seriously ridixlous fiddle for the money. Id love to have you try it to see what you think.
YEYY A NEW RAY VIDEOOO😩
Love this, it is so funny. 😂❤
I have 185 years old stradivarius original violin will you help me to sell.
Everyone in your community will probably agree that someone would buy that $69 violin for much more, just because you played it a few times xD
THAT WAS AWESOME
Is it common for a shop to charge for an appraisal? Say $100?
of course, they won't make it for free
I would be happy to buy that beautiful instrument for 70 dollars :D
i'll buy for 71
Ok I'm going wild here and offer 71.50$ (but only if shipping is included)! Unique deal Ray, you gotta admit!
@@goldika 71.50 and one cent!
You guys are out of your mind... i mean 71 is okay but 71.5 ?!!! i give up@@goldika
It would be kind of cool & fun if Ray did sign it, agree to sell it to the highest bidder, and donate 50% of the total profits to a charity of the winner's choice. Starting bid at $70, according to Fred and go from there. Perhaps go Live for 30 minutes and see how high the bids get. I think Ray would be an awesome auctioneer! 🤭🎻🗣💵💚
I would so pay that 70$ for Ray's violin!
We also know what's good or cheap.
Looks like a Rolex
i want one but i cant afford it
1:44 what the heck? Who is Mr Botox?
