  • The “AKAN KETE DANCE” which falls within the expressive heritage of its people, contributes to paradigm shifts in collective meanings and identity.
The “KETE” dance according to history, although a dance of the Ashanti’s was borrowed from the people of KETE-KRACHI.
It used to be a dance for the KETE-KRACHI hunters and when the Ashanti’s conquered them during one of their many wars of conquest for land expansion and wealth, they took over the dancethrough cultural relativism in making it an integral part of the richAkan custom. This is evident of the symbolic cloth used to cover the KETE drums known as “SUM NE MOGYA” meaning “DARKENESS AND BLOOD” by the Ashanti people emphasizing the toil in the process of acquiring these beautiful drums.
