After heavy use with both devices, I have chosen the Note 9 over the XS Max as my primary phablet phone! In this video I aim to explain why this works for a content creators, creatives, and people who want to get really productive on there phones and why it may be the better option for you. Neither company sent these phones, this is just my subjective experience! If you bought one or the other or are planning on buying a device! Good choice nick,iphone is good phone but lighting charger is nightmare if you have iphone in my country there is only 3% users so imessage facetime no use,you have problem in public places if you forget charger because everyone have usb or usb-c charger so you can't charge iphone almost nowere,so i sell my iphone 5s and stick with android divices.Note9 is a beast.

Iphones are nice phones but they are inconvenient. Nowadays I wouldn't even consider it a smart phone since my note 8 can literally turn into a computer. #galaxysquad
@@santicp23 Having the option to have your phone be a faux desktop and only using it for very specific situations (etc your laptop's battery died and you didn't bring the charger or your roommate borrowed your laptop and won't be able to return it til later tonight) is better than not having the option at all.
Great choice I love my note 9. I've been using Note devices for few years now even though I own Apple iMac and iPad pro, but when it comes to everyday use I prefer the Note 9. The USB-C supports all of my new devices and headphone jack is really useful plus I really use the S pen a lot despite what ppl say when they get their Note and forget about it.
Its pretty simple most adults will choose the note 9 for all its features for working and multitasking, minors and kids want the iphone cuz they want to follow the crowd.

Rich I have used both and still like both phones , I prefer iPhones for my person live but I wouldn’t say that the camera is better on the note , dxomark shows the iPhone is better , front cameras imo have always been better and the video recording on the iPhone is without a doubt better , but I mean most phones cameras now a day are so good it’s just nitpicking
I came from the iPhone 7 plus to the note 9. I still have it the 7 plus it served me very well for the most part. But iOS is as a phone is not exciting , it gets old fast. Got the note 9 now and I had used Android Mostly Samsung notes before my iPhone. Can't believe how much of an improvement Samsung has come since I last left. Especially the battery life note 9 which the best I ever experienced in modern smartphones. And yes Samsung totally sucked at battery life last time I used it. There is so much to get lost in , find your way and discover is what I missed most about the note series. Yes I find Android OS easier to use than iOS because I customize functions to fit my needs and not everybody else's like iOS. Cloud silver which is what I got makes the note look more premium than the iPhone x. Any other color to me is meh except for the copper note.

Also software updates in ios are kind of minor and the only good thing are the potential bug fixes. No hate on the iphones(I want one actually but as my ios/ secondary device) my main is most likely the note 9 or the huawei mate 20 pro.
“If you want a simple experience......go for the Xs Max....” - how about getting or keeping your iPhone 8 Plus instead of letting Apple rob you? Just saying. It’s the same experience anyway. From what I have been hearing the 8 Plus battery lasts a tad longer than the Xs Max. Do we really need Face ID? NO! After dealing with the remorse of buying the X last year, I realized that Apple is milking us year after year after year with nothing revolutionary that justifies the exorbitant price.
Hosni Guiling why do you feel the need to upgrade every year anyway? You get so many updates with iOS that it doesn’t make sense to do a yearly upgrade.
The iPhone 6 plus I just had replaced with that insurance works great. I don't see the appeal of face scanning, finger printing etc, don't they have enough of our data? Maybe they'll take DNA next.
I have a 6s and considering getting the note9... The ONE thing holding me back is the convenience of others, because apparently if I were to get an android phone, then my friends wouldn't be able to leave group chats (They all have iphones)
They are both great phones, you just need to decide what you need/want out of your phone. Both have ups and downs it’s just up to you to decide. At the end of the day bashing on another phone based on a comparison can be useful but it should not be the only source you are looking at to decide. You’re the only one who truly knows what you want. Great video by the way. -though I personally own the xs max
i completely agree with you. for instance i prioritize Style,Power then other stuff like camera or customization. When i look to note9, it looks soo stylish to me that even if other parts were worse than iphone, i would still buy the note9 just for that nice looks. Well everyone, you heard it from the man himself. He knows a lot more about technology than any of us and he picked the Note 9. The Note is the King. It can do everything an iPhone can do and more and it costs less. The iPhone can't do more than a Note. Just accept the facts.
I have iPhone X and instead of buying the max , I bought the note 9 as my android device (I always use both ) . For my everyday use I am carrying the iPhone , the size is perfect for taking calls , checking social media e.t.c , For long trips am taking the note 9 . Love both of them but , iOS 12 is , let’s say smoother and some apps looks better on iPhone . Both phones are beasts .
Please download an app called Droid Optimizer it saved m 4year old J2. Also download Nova Launcher and change the animations and customize the phone to make it yours

Xs is overpriced but in a long run maybe 3 to 4or even 5 years xs would be a great value, note 9 is good but not for more than 2 years and it depreciates like nothing does But great video as always
@@duckagon9359 @Yomama RBX I'm still rocking an S5. That's from 2014. I dont have tons of issues with lag. At times it does sure but the lag on my phone is not so bad that I feel like I need to upgrade because of it. And thats with an S5. And your worried about a note 9 lagging in 6 months? XD
I have love for ios devices in the past. My 1st smartphone was a 3gs after all. But when I used an S3- I never went back. After that it has always been android for me. I need the customization and flexibility of android. I just got tired of "jailbreaking" an iPhone, i guess. After using numerous Galaxy S devices, I finally gave in and started using a Note 8. Never thought that the Spen would be so handy- especially with quick notations! Maybe upgrading to a Note9 next year! 👍 ❤️
Key point & nobody ever talks about that alone. I come home & the phone turns into my 60" old school warm glass plasma into a full desktop/best streaming device ever. This is my note 8 not even the 9 & I'm still loving it a year later.

I actually just sold my iPhone x (using iOS for 6 years+) ...and always wanted the Samsung s8..so I bought it lol And I must say. I am pleasantly surprised as how well it's functioning....it's actually a delight to use. And now I want the s10 for sure. Needed a change ..and this is absolutely amazing. A few things I noticed 1. The notifications system is far superior. I can practically get notifications for everything and I love that ...far better yes and they work more consistently 2. I'm loving the no notch screen. You forget how amazing it is without it..for videos mostly 3. The QHD screen makes a difference. It's so vibrant and gorgeous 4. Split screen and pop up windows are amazingly useful..I can't believe I lived without it for so long 5. I hate how you can't close all your apps with one command ...I think my s8 handles the background tasks far better 6. The customizations is nice...I can literally get a full screen..no time no wifi icons..no bottom buttons..for someone that gets anxiety from too much clutter..u can actually completely remove all clutter on my s8...that's a huge one for me. I was getting sick of not being able to really see my wallpaper... 7. Another big annoyance with iOS iPhone is I keep getting pop ups that I can't stop...pop ups for software updates..pop ups if my email isn't registered ...pop ups for my iCloud..it's just so damn annoying..and to compound things further now your wifi and Bluetooth turns on by itself unless you go all the way into settings to turn it off...you can use shortcuts to fix that but still annoying I still think iPhone is the better overall phone ..I'll explain why in your other video ...but for now I'm loving the s8.....

Seriously I have no idea why people are bashing this device and they haven’t even had it in hand to fully test yet, an iOS device has proven that it’s a better software experience has a better resale value and are solid no frills straight forward device, yes it has a a lower resolution LCD display, single camera, no gigabit LTE and no IP68 rating but will still perform at the same level as the more expensive model iPhones. There are sooooo........ many Android devices on the market and nobody complains because they have so many choices but it’s gimmick after gimmick depending on the manufacturer, the Pixel 3 XL is a great example of that and it’s apparent as they copied the notch, removed the headphone jack and have mocked apple yet they still can’t get a device (phone) to perform on the level of the iPhone and continue using the same processor currently found in the 2018 android flagships from every other manufacturer. Samsung Touchwiz UI has improved but is not even on the same level of iOS and will never compete period! Neither is LG or HTC and Google is pure and bloatware free but still has so many privacy issues, APK exploit, etc... The fact is the community of nerdist who refer to any apple device users as iSheep don’t really understand that stability, fluidity and polish of iOS and mock what they fear or just choose not understand or experience it for themselves. I admittedly feel into that category for a long time owning several Samsung, HTC and LG devices but after I experienced iOS I will never go back to Android as Updates were never timely for Samsung or a priority unless I bought an Android One device/Google device and I still didn’t feel as if it was a worthy competitor to my iPhones (7+, 8+ and Xs Max), the XR is going to be another great performing device for what it offers but most Android users will never admit it.

I have both. My son and I switch back and forth as we like and dislike both lol. It's nice to finally have decent battery life in Samsung's Note 9. Remembers Apples algorithm for holding the batter percentage at 99 for longer and then trickles faster. I like fast charging and the 300.00 off at Bestbuy helped lol. Spend and spit screen is great. The hokie "it feels better in the hand" applies here as well. Good video.

Actually I'd be surprised if you chose the iPhone XS Max, or whatever its name is, over the Note 9....The Note 9 is now the complete package; the ultimate phone. it has all pillars of a great phone: great display, great battery life and great software !.
This is not new or anything but one thing people don't talk about is charging other devices. You can use the phone's battery to charge another device. And since this is using usb c now, you could just get a usb c to usb c cable so you can plug it in to another device without a dongle.

Speaking from a person that is using a J2 which is a 4 year old Budget phone it still works fine. I downloaded an app called Droid Optimizer one touch app which clears cache and memory because i only have 8gb storage. I also downloaded the Nova Launcher to make my phone feel more user friendly. The phone doesnt lag but it is slow
It's like some of them still think its 2014 and say how the cameras are ass and all I can see is pixels like have you seen the Galaxy Note 9 or the Pixel 3xl cameras, they are so unaware of how far they have come to the point where some are better than iPhones.
Writing this in my NOTE 9 . after about 2 weeks with this phone. I say : THIS IS A BEAST OVER EVERYTHING .This phablet has everything that you can imagine . The S pen itself is a world !!! I'm super satisfy with this phone and I LOVE IT . The video was very good and honest. 👏😊🌻
Great video & best choice 🤳💪👍 I have the note 9 too, but one big thing to mention: it comes with a built in Samsung DeX experience, you don't really need an extra Dex adapter unless you want to plug a USB flash or Ethernet cable.
I normally switch back & forth between iPhone & Samsung. I switched from the previous generation iPhone because of LTE call quality and connection issues. I currently have the note 9. Thanks for reminding me why I switched. Just seems like these companies are rolling the dice with consumers.
I can’t argue with your choice Nick because it is what works for you. But my girlfriend, friends, and family have iPhones and I need that iMessage. Of course not the only reason I just really enjoy the buttery smooth experience of iOS on the new phone
@Emad Ahmed telegram in my humble opinion is superior, but i definitely agree with everything else you said. i keep telling folks iMessage is only a U.S. thing. i have whatsapp, but i use telegram.
Eh I’ll never go back to Android. I’ve had way too many issues and the batteries die faster because of the fast charging. Plus iMessage is phenomenal. iOS is a smoother experience and I never used any of the gimmicky stuff on Android anyway. I just need a phone that works.

There is an issue though.. the latest news is that the galaxy note 8 won’t be getting the latest one UI. This is the problem with Samsung, they ignore the older models when new ones come. Compared to Apple who gave ios12 for the iPhone 5s. The note 9 is a great phone in itself.

@@AbhinavDilip While I agree faster updates are always welcomed, why does it matter so much? Most people swap phones every 2 years. My note 9 asks me if I want Android Pie update and I just keep putting it off because I like the way Oreo works and see no reason to update.
BoogieDownProduction it matters a lot because I don’t get another phone until the older one becomes extremely outdated in terms of speed and security. I might switch a phone every 2 years if I bought a budget phone. But if it’s a flagship, I keep it for the longest because it is expected to last long.

I am paying $20 for 24 months ($480) for my note 9, at that price its a no brainier to upgrade from my 2 year old V20. $480, I own it then will probably sell it in two years and get a deal on note 11. Old V20 will still net me $100.
I am pro switching to the N9, I believe if apple eventually comes out with the Ipen as long as all the features are equal to or better than Samsung they may rise up. But they would definitely have to have the 3rd lens as well as more advanced features. *** my only only concern with the N9 is I heard you can only record for 10 mins while in 4K@60fps! ????? 🙁 that’s the only thing that bothers me while it has allllll that storage.

I just switched to a note9 after having been an iPhone user for nearly a decade (my most recent apple phone was the iphone X) . Here's my take on it : the Samsung has WAY more features it feels more like a computer when compared to apple devices. The downside is the navigation and user interface seem a little bit clunky to me but maybe it will get better as I use it more.
I thought about the Note 9 but I decided to stay with the XS Max. At the end of the day one thing I’m worried about with androids now is consistent updates. Newer iPhones will last longer because of the future updates.
Updates are over rated when the phone doesnt lag. These days android flagship phones dont deteriorate as much as apple fans think. Why would i want updates every month if all im getting is bug fixes.

Jared Ikazoboh true. I tried beta once on my iPhone 8 Plus and it screwed it up. I’m just harsh on both sides. Both companies need to be exposed but of course other TH-camrs are afraid to mention android problems I read every day. They only want to talk about it when it’s too late
I bought the note 9 and absolutely loved it. Somehow I got suckered into wanting an iPhone again after not using apple for a couple years. I bought the iPhone XR mainly because I missed iMessage because the majority of people I talk to have iPhone. I’ve been using the XR for a couple weeks now and I’m ready to go back to my note 9. I definitely feel like the iPhone just isn’t worth it. However it’s so hard for me to let go of iMessage again. 😭

Yo, great video. Straight to the facts. I have a Note 4 that is still working just fine. I use the pen to design clothing using free apps from the app store. Its just a brilliant phone. I had the Note 1. Ive been hooked ever since. Im soon to upgrade to the 9 or the Note 10 although that will cost mega bucks. The iPhone is a look good phone, not a productivity phone. I message, good camera and being one of the crowd is why people buy. The Note will always be my main phone. Once you've used that pen, there is no going back.
Just to clarify that you don't need the Dex station in Note 9. It's embedded into the phone and it's great that you only need a USB C Hub to have a full desktop-like experience.
I'm again moving from my XS Max to Note9. Lots of dropped call, bad internet (also droppe network). No multi app and so many limitation. It sucks for a expensive phone to have this much limit.
I have been a faithful Note user ever since the Note 3 but after my Note 5 screen blacked out and my Note 8 screen lost the ability to register my touch it was time for me to do something different, so I got the Max and while I do miss the features of a Note there are definitely pros and cons on both phones
Is Google Assistant on iPhone different than the Android version? The Apple Airpods are the easiest wireless headphones I've ever used in terms of establishing a connection. Wireless headphones on Android is another story. In short, firmly believe the Airpods negate the perceived advantages of having a headphone jack. Plus wireless doesn't require you to be tethered to your device to allow for multitasking (e.g. exercise, etc.). To be clear Fast Charging is an option on the newest iPhones but doesn't come in the box. Aren't both panels made by Samsung? Haven't experienced any dropped calls on my XS Max. Completely agree about multitasking being superior on the Note 9 while being underwhelming on the XS Max. The USB-C point is well taken. My biggest barrier to leaving Apple is actually driven more by the fact that the majority of my friends and family use iPhone. The iPhone still has a dominant position here in the states.
I would really like to get the Samsung Note 9 but because i need a phone that helps me create content I'm leaning towards the iPhone it has optimised garageband for music makers like myself. Also better camera and 4K video recording. Also better microphone and a lot more 3rd party apps for content creation are available on IOS than on android.

The mics are way better on most flagship android phones than iphones but apps you mentioned are a bit more refined for iPhone but you get crazy multitasking productivity options on note 9

@@SebastianJ13 it really is those. The note is $1250 for 512gb whereas the XS Max is $1449 for the same storage. Not to mention apple charging $1100 for 64gb is pretty insulting
I have moved from using a Mac to using a surface pro, and i am also thinking about changing from the iPhone to an android. I think that i have had it with Apple, the prices for their devices are absolutely crazy, definitely a high margin company.
Hi Nick : you covered almost all aspects, but what about the software updates. We always compare latest phones in the market but after a year or so most of the phones degrade in performance. I am using Galaxy Note 3 and want to jump to one of these. Now for me any of these phones would works great because both phones are huge upgrade for me. But the thing that really concerns me for NOTE 9 is the Samsung software update (often coming late) and phone getting slower down the line. Let me know your opinion. Your thoughts might help me choose the right phone. Thanks for your video.

you can't really expect good audio from the jack on either iPhone or a MacBook - they all have poor quality DACs. You can actually get better results from good bluetooth headphones, since they receive digital stream and converter is built into the headphones.

Don't feel bad it's a great phone, but valuing productivity, I don't shoot video on phones much because they don't beat real cameras, face I'd is more secure but I have finger print, Iris and face unlock which is more options, love both devices, I just feel you get a more complete package on the Note 9

Nick you are the most unbiased TH-cam Reviewer I watch on most devices.I really appreciate your opinion and have to agree I absolutely love the Note Line.,But today I met a real sweet heart of a girl who took the time and handed her phone over to me to check out in person and have to agree with your assessment on the iPhone as well it really felt premium in the hand and you know I'm a Tech Geek but I had conversation with her how I wanted to check it out and have to say it too was very nice.I'm pretty hard to impress with certain devices and I do like many.So that being said I have to say you were definitely right on with your opinion.,Both are very Nice still Love the Note line but the iPhone I checked out was really nice also didn't realize how nice and slim it felt.So Thanks for sharing Deb 👍👌 ✌️
Great review, though I've been a Note user since the Note "1" if you will. I do own an iPad Pro which feels very premium and functions well, so I can understand why people would choose an iPhone. I do hate how Apple locks down the iOS file system though.
there is in the windows store the app samsung flow. one can use it to unlock the windows laptop with the samsung phone, copy files (like documents scanned with the phone to the one note on the laptop) without cable between phone and laptop, see on the laptop the pictures from the phone. thats productivity like apple offers between mac and ios devices. laptop can be something very light like surface. i suppose you use macbook because final cut pro.
I had note 9 and upgraded from note 8. I also bought the XS Max 512GB, and I must say that note 9 despite 8gb of ram had lag on heavy multi tasking. Switching between apps on iPhone is more fluid to be honest. Also I like the camera better on XS than on a note 9. This year I’ll stick to iOS and hope Samsung will do something better for the next year.
Excellent video! I've been in love and have had all the notes with the exception of the 7. I also have an iPad 12.9, iPhone 6s plus that I purchased for work was trying to see what all the fuss was about with Apple and it turns out that neither are working out for me. I have both the note 8 and 9 and they are perfect for my hectic demanding job. My iPhone is basically used to communicate with my staff, but my notes are mainly for the heavy work and home life. The iPad is literally collecting dust, I use a surface pro in place of the iPad, I just don't get the hype over apple it's boring ,restrictive and it's serves me no use in terms of productivity. I'm not knocking those who are head over heels for apple, but as a user of both systems. I strongly without a doubt prefer to use my Note 8 & 9 as my daily drivers.
For clarification, you do not need the Dex for the experience, Dex comes already installed in the Note 9, I can use Dex by connecting any USB-C dock. Other than that, love the Video and can't agreed more.
There skin is not awful I prefer it better than stock android but yes I hate the slow updates I can't wait till they just leave android and maybe there will be more updates and faster ones.
I don't get the hate for Samsung skin I don't understand how it's "awful" I try launchers and always come back to Samsung experience within a day or two max. I do agree with you, though, on the updates.
And also now we have iMessage competitor that you should mention. Its RCS and I am already using it. As far as facetime is concerned, we have Google Duo which is way better then Facetime and it is multi platform (will work on iPhones too)
After heavy use with both devices, I have chosen the Note 9 over the XS Max as my primary phablet phone! In this video I aim to explain why this works for a content creators, creatives, and people who want to get really productive on there phones and why it may be the better option for you. Neither company sent these phones, this is just my subjective experience! If you bought one or the other or are planning on buying a device! Good choice nick,iphone is good phone but lighting charger is nightmare if you have iphone in my country there is only 3% users so imessage facetime no use,you have problem in public places if you forget charger because everyone have usb or usb-c charger so you can't charge iphone almost nowere,so i sell my iphone 5s and stick with android divices.Note9 is a beast.

Great choice I love my note 9. I've been using Note devices for few years now even though I own Apple iMac and iPad pro, but when it comes to everyday use I prefer the Note 9. The USB-C supports all of my new devices and headphone jack is really useful plus I really use the S pen a lot despite what ppl say when they get their Note and forget about it.
Its pretty simple most adults will choose the note 9 for all its features for working and multitasking, minors and kids want the iphone cuz they want to follow the crowd.

Rich I have used both and still like both phones , I prefer iPhones for my person live but I wouldn’t say that the camera is better on the note , dxomark shows the iPhone is better , front cameras imo have always been better and the video recording on the iPhone is without a doubt better , but I mean most phones cameras now a day are so good it’s just nitpicking

I came from the iPhone 7 plus to the note 9. I still have it the 7 plus it served me very well for the most part. But iOS is as a phone is not exciting , it gets old fast. Got the note 9 now and I had used Android Mostly Samsung notes before my iPhone. Can't believe how much of an improvement Samsung has come since I last left. Especially the battery life note 9 which the best I ever experienced in modern smartphones. And yes Samsung totally sucked at battery life last time I used it.
There is so much to get lost in , find your way and discover is what I missed most about the note series. Yes I find Android OS easier to use than iOS because I customize functions to fit my needs and not everybody else's like iOS.
Cloud silver which is what I got makes the note look more premium than the iPhone x. Any other color to me is meh except for the copper note.

Also software updates in ios are kind of minor and the only good thing are the potential bug fixes. No hate on the iphones(I want one actually but as my ios/ secondary device) my main is most likely the note 9 or the huawei mate 20 pro.

When i look to note9, it looks soo stylish to me that even if other parts were worse than iphone, i would still buy the note9 just for that nice looks. I have iPhone X and instead of buying the max , I bought the note 9 as my android device (I always use both ) . For my everyday use I am carrying the iPhone , the size is perfect for taking calls , checking social media e.t.c , For long trips am taking the note 9 . Love both of them but , iOS 12 is , let’s say smoother and some apps looks better on iPhone . Both phones are beasts .
Please download an app called Droid Optimizer it saved m 4year old J2. Also download Nova Launcher and change the animations and customize the phone to make it yours

Xs is overpriced but in a long run maybe 3 to 4or even 5 years xs would be a great value, note 9 is good but not for more than 2 years and it depreciates like nothing does

@@duckagon9359 @Yomama RBX I'm still rocking an S5. That's from 2014. I dont have tons of issues with lag. At times it does sure but the lag on my phone is not so bad that I feel like I need to upgrade because of it. And thats with an S5. And your worried about a note 9 lagging in 6 months? XD

I have love for ios devices in the past. My 1st smartphone was a 3gs after all. But when I used an S3- I never went back. After that it has always been android for me. I need the customization and flexibility of android. I just got tired of "jailbreaking" an iPhone, i guess. After using numerous Galaxy S devices, I finally gave in and started using a Note 8. Never thought that the Spen would be so handy- especially with quick notations! Maybe upgrading to a Note9 next year! 👍 ❤️

Key point & nobody ever talks about that alone. I come home & the phone turns into my 60" old school warm glass plasma into a full desktop/best streaming device ever. This is my note 8 not even the 9 & I'm still loving it a year later.

I actually just sold my iPhone x (using iOS for 6 years+) ...and always wanted the Samsung s8..so I bought it lol
And I must say. I am pleasantly surprised as how well it's functioning....it's actually a delight to use. And now I want the s10 for sure. Needed a change ..and this is absolutely amazing. A few things I noticed
1. The notifications system is far superior. I can practically get notifications for everything and I love that ...far better yes and they work more consistently
2. I'm loving the no notch screen. You forget how amazing it is without it..for videos mostly
3. The QHD screen makes a difference. It's so vibrant and gorgeous
4. Split screen and pop up windows are amazingly useful..I can't believe I lived without it for so long
5. I hate how you can't close all your apps with one command ...I think my s8 handles the background tasks far better
6. The customizations is nice...I can literally get a full screen..no time no wifi icons..no bottom buttons..for someone that gets anxiety from too much clutter..u can actually completely remove all clutter on my s8...that's a huge one for me. I was getting sick of not being able to really see my wallpaper...
7. Another big annoyance with iOS iPhone is I keep getting pop ups that I can't stop...pop ups for software updates..pop ups if my email isn't registered ...pop ups for my iCloud..it's just so damn annoying..and to compound things further now your wifi and Bluetooth turns on by itself unless you go all the way into settings to turn it off...you can use shortcuts to fix that but still annoying
I still think iPhone is the better overall phone ..I'll explain why in your other video ...but for now I'm loving the s8.....

Seriously I have no idea why people are bashing this device and they haven’t even had it in hand to fully test yet, an iOS device has proven that it’s a better software experience has a better resale value and are solid no frills straight forward device, yes it has a a lower resolution LCD display, single camera, no gigabit LTE and no IP68 rating but will still perform at the same level as the more expensive model iPhones.
There are sooooo........ many Android devices on the market and nobody complains because they have so many choices but it’s gimmick after gimmick depending on the manufacturer, the Pixel 3 XL is a great example of that and it’s apparent as they copied the notch, removed the headphone jack and have mocked apple yet they still can’t get a device (phone) to perform on the level of the iPhone and continue using the same processor currently found in the 2018 android flagships from every other manufacturer.
Samsung Touchwiz UI has improved but is not even on the same level of iOS and will never compete period! Neither is LG or HTC and Google is pure and bloatware free but still has so many privacy issues, APK exploit, etc...
The fact is the community of nerdist who refer to any apple device users as iSheep don’t really understand that stability, fluidity and polish of iOS and mock what they fear or just choose not understand or experience it for themselves.
I admittedly feel into that category for a long time owning several Samsung, HTC and LG devices but after I experienced iOS I will never go back to Android as Updates were never timely for Samsung or a priority unless I bought an Android One device/Google device and I still didn’t feel as if it was a worthy competitor to my iPhones (7+, 8+ and Xs Max), the XR is going to be another great performing device for what it offers but most Android users will never admit it.

I have both. My son and I switch back and forth as we like and dislike both lol. It's nice to finally have decent battery life in Samsung's Note 9. Remembers Apples algorithm for holding the batter percentage at 99 for longer and then trickles faster. I like fast charging and the 300.00 off at Bestbuy helped lol. Spend and spit screen is great. The hokie "it feels better in the hand" applies here as well. Good video.

This is not new or anything but one thing people don't talk about is charging other devices. You can use the phone's battery to charge another device. And since this is using usb c now, you could just get a usb c to usb c cable so you can plug it in to another device without a dongle.

Speaking from a person that is using a J2 which is a 4 year old Budget phone it still works fine. I downloaded an app called Droid Optimizer one touch app which clears cache and memory because i only have 8gb storage. I also downloaded the Nova Launcher to make my phone feel more user friendly. The phone doesnt lag but it is slow

It's like some of them still think its 2014 and say how the cameras are ass and all I can see is pixels like have you seen the Galaxy Note 9 or the Pixel 3xl cameras, they are so unaware of how far they have come to the point where some are better than iPhones.
I played with a Note 9 at AT&T today. And to be honest it did lag. But it's because of the Samsung advertisment that runs on it constantly.
Writing this in my NOTE 9 . after about 2 weeks with this phone. I say : THIS IS A BEAST OVER EVERYTHING .This phablet has everything that you can imagine . The S pen itself is a world !!! I'm super satisfy with this phone and I LOVE IT . The video was very good and honest. 👏😊🌻

Great video & best choice 🤳💪👍 I have the note 9 too, but one big thing to mention: it comes with a built in Samsung DeX experience, you don't really need an extra Dex adapter unless you want to plug a USB flash or Ethernet cable.

I normally switch back & forth between iPhone & Samsung. I switched from the previous generation iPhone because of LTE call quality and connection issues. I currently have the note 9. Thanks for reminding me why I switched. Just seems like these companies are rolling the dice with consumers.
I can’t argue with your choice Nick because it is what works for you. But my girlfriend, friends, and family have iPhones and I need that iMessage. Of course not the only reason I just really enjoy the buttery smooth experience of iOS on the new phone
In countries other than the US even iPhone users use WhatsApp for the most part and I message in my opinion is probably just the u.s. thing.

Eh I’ll never go back to Android. I’ve had way too many issues and the batteries die faster because of the fast charging. Plus iMessage is phenomenal. iOS is a smoother experience and I never used any of the gimmicky stuff on Android anyway. I just need a phone that works.

There is an issue though.. the latest news is that the galaxy note 8 won’t be getting the latest one UI. This is the problem with Samsung, they ignore the older models when new ones come. Compared to Apple who gave ios12 for the iPhone 5s.

@@AbhinavDilip While I agree faster updates are always welcomed, why does it matter so much? Most people swap phones every 2 years. My note 9 asks me if I want Android Pie update and I just keep putting it off because I like the way Oreo works and see no reason to update.

I might switch a phone every 2 years if I bought a budget phone. But if it’s a flagship, I keep it for the longest because it is expected to last long.

I am paying $20 for 24 months ($480) for my note 9, at that price its a no brainier to upgrade from my 2 year old V20. $480, I own it then will probably sell it in two years and get a deal on note 11. Old V20 will still net me $100.
I am pro switching to the N9, I believe if apple eventually comes out with the Ipen as long as all the features are equal to or better than Samsung they may rise up. But they would definitely have to have the 3rd lens as well as more advanced features. *** my only only concern with the N9 is I heard you can only record for 10 mins while in 4K@60fps! ????? 🙁 that’s the only thing that bothers me while it has allllll that storage.

I just switched to a note9 after having been an iPhone user for nearly a decade (my most recent apple phone was the iphone X) . Here's my take on it : the Samsung has WAY more features it feels more like a computer when compared to apple devices. The downside is the navigation and user interface seem a little bit clunky to me but maybe it will get better as I use it more.
I thought about the Note 9 but I decided to stay with the XS Max. At the end of the day one thing I’m worried about with androids now is consistent updates. Newer iPhones will last longer because of the future updates.

I bought the note 9 and absolutely loved it. Somehow I got suckered into wanting an iPhone again after not using apple for a couple years. I bought the iPhone XR mainly because I missed iMessage because the majority of people I talk to have iPhone. I’ve been using the XR for a couple weeks now and I’m ready to go back to my note 9. I definitely feel like the iPhone just isn’t worth it. However it’s so hard for me to let go of iMessage again. 😭

I had the Note 1. Ive been hooked ever since. Im soon to upgrade to the 9 or the Note 10 although that will cost mega bucks. The iPhone is a look good phone, not a productivity phone. I message, good camera and being one of the crowd is why people buy. The Note will always be my main phone. Once you've used that pen, there is no going back.

Just to clarify that you don't need the Dex station in Note 9. It's embedded into the phone and it's great that you only need a USB C Hub to have a full desktop-like experience.

I'm again moving from my XS Max to Note9. Lots of dropped call, bad internet (also droppe network). No multi app and so many limitation. It sucks for a expensive phone to have this much limit.

I have been a faithful Note user ever since the Note 3 but after my Note 5 screen blacked out and my Note 8 screen lost the ability to register my touch it was time for me to do something different, so I got the Max and while I do miss the features of a Note there are definitely pros and cons on both phones

Is Google Assistant on iPhone different than the Android version?
The Apple Airpods are the easiest wireless headphones I've ever used in terms of establishing a connection. Wireless headphones on Android is another story. In short, firmly believe the Airpods negate the perceived advantages of having a headphone jack. Plus wireless doesn't require you to be tethered to your device to allow for multitasking (e.g. exercise, etc.).
To be clear Fast Charging is an option on the newest iPhones but doesn't come in the box.

Completely agree about multitasking being superior on the Note 9 while being underwhelming on the XS Max.
The USB-C point is well taken.
My biggest barrier to leaving Apple is actually driven more by the fact that the majority of my friends and family use iPhone. The iPhone still has a dominant position here in the states.
I would really like to get the Samsung Note 9 but because i need a phone that helps me create content I'm leaning towards the iPhone it has optimised garageband for music makers like myself. Also better camera and 4K video recording. Also better microphone and a lot more 3rd party apps for content creation are available on IOS than on android.

@@mdrahman6732 really? I wish i was rich enough to buy both phones so i could test it out myself. I've been with android pretty much all my life too so i feel like i should give Apple a chance. Its expensive but i tend to stick with a phone for at least 3 years before upgrading

The mics are way better on most flagship android phones than iphones but apps you mentioned are a bit more refined for iPhone but you get crazy multitasking productivity options on note 9
@@christopherbeltran5020 yeah the multitasking is one of the reasons i really wanted to go with the Note 9, the iPhone doesn't seem to make much use of the big screen :/ might take some more time to make my final decision

I get the price is high but so is the resale value.
I have moved from using a Mac to using a surface pro, and i am also thinking about changing from the iPhone to an android. I think that i have had it with Apple, the prices for their devices are absolutely crazy, definitely a high margin company.

Hi Nick : you covered almost all aspects, but what about the software updates. We always compare latest phones in the market but after a year or so most of the phones degrade in performance. I am using Galaxy Note 3 and want to jump to one of these. Now for me any of these phones would works great because both phones are huge upgrade for me. But the thing that really concerns me for NOTE 9 is the Samsung software update (often coming late) and phone getting slower down the line. Let me know your opinion. Your thoughts might help me choose the right phone. Thanks for your video.

you can't really expect good audio from the jack on either iPhone or a MacBook - they all have poor quality DACs. You can actually get better results from good bluetooth headphones, since they receive digital stream and converter is built into the headphones.

Don't feel bad it's a great phone, but valuing productivity, I don't shoot video on phones much because they don't beat real cameras, face I'd is more secure but I have finger print, Iris and face unlock which is more options, love both devices, I just feel you get a more complete package on the Note 9

Nick you are the most unbiased TH-cam Reviewer I watch on most devices.I really appreciate your opinion and have to agree I absolutely love the Note Line.,But today I met a real sweet heart of a girl who took the time and handed her phone over to me to check out in person and have to agree with your assessment on the iPhone as well it really felt premium in the hand and you know I'm a Tech Geek but I had conversation with her how I wanted to check it out and have to say it too was very nice.I'm pretty hard to impress with certain devices and I do like many.So that being said I have to say you were definitely right on with your opinion.,Both are very Nice still Love the Note line but the iPhone I checked out was really nice also didn't realize how nice and slim it felt.So Thanks for sharing Deb 👍👌 ✌️

Great review, though I've been a Note user since the Note "1" if you will. I do own an iPad Pro which feels very premium and functions well, so I can understand why people would choose an iPhone. I do hate how Apple locks down the iOS file system though.

there is in the windows store the app samsung flow. one can use it to unlock the windows laptop with the samsung phone, copy files (like documents scanned with the phone to the one note on the laptop) without cable between phone and laptop, see on the laptop the pictures from the phone.

I had note 9 and upgraded from note 8. I also bought the XS Max 512GB, and I must say that note 9 despite 8gb of ram had lag on heavy multi tasking. Switching between apps on iPhone is more fluid to be honest. Also I like the camera better on XS than on a note 9. This year I’ll stick to iOS and hope Samsung will do something better for the next year.
Excellent video! I've been in love and have had all the notes with the exception of the 7. I also have an iPad 12.9, iPhone 6s plus that I purchased for work was trying to see what all the fuss was about with Apple and it turns out that neither are working out for me. I have both the note 8 and 9 and they are perfect for my hectic demanding job. My iPhone is basically used to communicate with my staff, but my notes are mainly for the heavy work and home life. The iPad is literally collecting dust, I use a surface pro in place of the iPad, I just don't get the hype over apple it's boring ,restrictive and it's serves me no use in terms of productivity. I'm not knocking those who are head over heels for apple, but as a user of both systems. I strongly without a doubt prefer to use my Note 8 & 9 as my daily drivers.

For clarification, you do not need the Dex for the experience, Dex comes already installed in the Note 9, I can use Dex by connecting any USB-C dock. Other than that, love the Video and can't agreed more.

Both are great phones! My only problem with Samsung is their awful skin and lack of updates. Still it’s the Note is one of the best! 👍

There skin is not awful I prefer it better than stock android but yes I hate the slow updates I can't wait till they just leave android and maybe there will be more updates and faster ones.
I actually prefer Samsung's skin than any other like Stock Android. You can always put a launcher on it anyway.
I don't get the hate for Samsung skin I don't understand how it's "awful" I try launchers and always come back to Samsung experience within a day or two max. I do agree with you, though, on the updates.
Most of the updates on Samsung android adapts too really not missing alot.. look at what pie has that you already have
And also now we have iMessage competitor that you should mention. Its RCS and I am already using it. As far as facetime is concerned, we have Google Duo which is way better then Facetime and it is multi platform (will work on iPhones too)
