You can literally travel anywhere in Europe for as long as you want immediately? A child could get around the 90/180 limit. Spend 3 months wherever, fly to a non shengan country in Europe like Romania, take the train out back to wherever then train back and fly out of Romania and repeat. Know loads of people that have done this. Oh wait but if I wait 3/10 short years I could become a resident of some corrupt s-hole after paying thousands of pounds! Sign me up

I had an opportunity to gain a second citizenship with Spain. I wasn't too sure then about all the legal aspects, and it made me a bit apprehensive. Over 500 years ago, the Spanish government/church exiled many Jewish clans. They slaughtered the ones who wouldn't convert, or accept exile. As an apology, 500 years later, the Spanish government put out a letter with a list of names they had of the exiled clans. I am a Caribbean islander, born and raised on the island of Puerto Rico. We have a tradition about how we use our names... we legally use both our father and our mother's paternal surnames, but informally, we use both the paternal and maternal parent's names, which means informally we have four surnames. Of my four surnames, three were on Spain's list. There were several requirements to obtain that citizenship. First, a Spanish test, which I would've passed with no problem. My problem came with having to prove Jewish affiliation, which I do not have. So... I didn't pursue the process, and I think they might've even closed it by now. Sometimes I wonder what my ancestors would've wanted me to do, decline or accept citizenship to the country which killed many of their family and friends. At one point, the political unrest in the US made me wonder if I should pursue another residency, especially when Trump commented on the possibility of basically evicting all Puerto Ricans back to the islands. When my husband and I saw that online, he immediately said, if you have to go, we're going with you. Thankfully, it didn't happen. But, who's to say it couldn't? I think it's time to look into one of my sister islands in the Caribbean, and prepare things, just in case. Unfortunately, in this climate, you just never really know.

You don't need to live there longterm, but having passport gives you options to travel around the world and being a longh term tourist in europe. Which is the best thing in europe: being a tourist.

I did this once. The Italian was definitely a stick of dynamite and after 6 years didn't end up good but I'm sure it's not the same for all.

This isn't accurate, Argentina doesn't grant it automatically. Expect to deal with courts and wait 1-2 years
