I love these little boxes. I'm waiting for the day when a musician arrives with a small backpack to a stadium full of people, takes off some of these things and gives a concert that will drive everyone crazy. Thanks for the review.
It's seems odd to me there are very few videos showing the S-1 doing bass, especially when you consider that the original sh 101 was prodominatley a bass synth. So I say good for you.
A question for the experts. *How do I connect devices with built-in sounds Directly to a control keyboard that has no sounds? *Which cables do I need? And what is the friend why? - I have: launchkey 25 mk Novation control keyboard and want to connect it for example: to CIRCUIT TRACKS. Or - for the Roland device / Roland Aira S-1 and use their sounds. Many thanks to the helpers.
Hey there, assuming you have the Launchkey MK3, then you just need to plug a midi adaptor cable from the MIDI output on the keyboard to the MIDI input on the S-1 or Circuit. Although both these ports speak the same language they have different shapes, so you need a MIDI to TRS adaptor cable. One we have in stock is the 'Boss BMIDI135 MIDI to Mini TRS Cable'. Hope that helps!
@@StoreDJ_online Thank you so much bro for the answer. I was able to connect the Roland J6 and play the keyboard. But not the Roland S1. What and how do I need to configure the Roland S1 device to output sound to the keyboard? Thanks again bro.
Thanks for video. i just buy S-1 and looking how i can connected with my Arturia mk2 keybord ? because it not have midi out and connect to mac with usb only.
The S-1's design is a more complete SH-101 model, on the SH4D the 101 model is just the oscillator, the filter is the generic filter used across all the models, and the modulation routings are limited. For example on the S-1 you can use noise as a modulation source, on the 4D you cant. The SH4D still sounds close (and really nice), but the S-1 takes it further.
For MIDI between compatible TRS MIDI devices like the AIRA Compacts, you can just use a standard TRS cable (stereo headphone cable). To a PC you can use USB, to an interface you'll need to a TRS to MIDI DIN adaptor and a MIDI cable 😎
It doesnt have a bank of presets you can scroll through and apply to a pattern, however when you save a pattern it also saves the synth parameters with the pattern. As a workaround, you could come up with a sound you like and save it without any notes in the pattern. Do this a few times and you'll have easy access to sounds you like as starting points
Motion control isnt pot/nob automation but no huge deal, i dont think anyone takes that feature seriously. With cables, it just seems a bit silly and a waste of battery... anyways, thats what motion control is on this unit... . Its an assignable 2 axis gyroscope. You can move the machine like a wii controller or phone to control two assignable parameters. I would use a filter on one and an effect on the other. I actually am looking to buy one from you at this very moment. I bought the J6 a couple of weeks ago ( I've been playing live since the 90s but have just got rid of everything, to start again. Microstyle. The E4 i got from you last week is gold with the j6 controling the midi. Its a priceless sample when I run the sample when I run the microfreak on the left and the j6 on the right, into the digitakt 2. J6 six controlling the microfreak. Resample is again in the digitakt. Remember to reverse the phase... then patch out into fx pedals and sample 8 different versions, spectrum from ambient to full lead. Or sure, you can buy sample and loop libraries. Sure almost no one can tell... but do you want to be fake. You dont sell the mood or microcosm pedals do you. ? I would make videos for gear if you want better content. Both gear skills and video production - Www.hsquared.tv Time to go complete my order.

Its happened before.
Jean Michel Jarre would appreciate that.

Yes but does it come with a wee little handle so you can turn it into a tiny keytar?
hahaha, would LOVE to see that
.....Bro this is a great funny idea
I'm firing up the 3d printer now, lol

Respect from Glasgow

Best of today’s videos
hey thanks Trevor! Appreciate it
Sounds fab🎉
Great information man! Was this done with version 1.02 f/w on it? 1.02 has MANY improvements and bug fixes. Do tell.
Thanks! This was filmed before the S-1 was released so very likely it was v1.0
Great video! awesome sounds!
Thanks! They're fun machines! 😍

will this respond to midi pitch bend and modulation messages? chord version was unable to do this.
how can i cancel the point next to the pattern?
Cool vid. Having the sh04 too, which are the differences with the s1 in terms of sound design using the sh101 engine on tue sh04?

@@StoreDJ_online wow this little toy really rocks
U do so fast does tings... I need watch in slow mo.. but big thank 4 U.
What is used for midi in and out to other aira compacts? Or to a PC interface to a DAW?

Bravo!!!🍕🍺🍺
I just realized I don't own a single polyphonic synth, this might have to be my first
Does the S1 have presets? If so how many?

@@StoreDJ_online That works, many thanks!
It has a total of 64 pattern slots. These slots contain the patch/preset and pattern. It comes with 16 sounds, after that customer does the rest.

Great video! I only need a bassline in Roland style, would you recommend it to me?
For sure, the S1 or the slightly bigger SH-01 Boutique would be ideal 👍
