Great breakdown. I never gave up on Ickey bc he was put in a tough situation last year with constant shuffling of interior oline and subpar coaching. He can still be one of the best LT in the league!

Just looking at his rookie season, you can see what he has in him. Last year he was basically doing the job of two people without any back up. Several times you could see him looking confused because either he was supposed to chip and somebody pick up the rusher or the other way around and the other guy apparently didn’t get the memo. Not to mention the turnstile he had to his right. The offensive line reminded me of a pin setting in bowling called “grandmas teeth”, where the 7, 5, and 10 pin were left after the first ball so it looks like gapped teeth from the throwing line lol.

Better interior play will help Ickey just to the extent of the QB having somewhere to escape when he gets beat with speed. Like you said, he’s gotta put in the work and he admitted that he rested on the success from rookie year.
Looking at some of those sack Bryce took, it looks like there were times Bryce could have hit an open receiver. He threw one in the dirt @ 12:26 and one Adam was open for like a 5 yard gain or more. That ball starts coming out faster all of those sacks become 15 yard roughing the passer penalties.
YES! This happened all year. I really don't understand why everyone blames everything else and never takes a real hard look at Bryce young. There's only so many excuses you can make for one guy
@@gabesheaffer7757 Bryce was definitely a part of the problem. He just wasn’t the problem. Everyone played worse than they would normally all except Luvu, Moton, Adam T, Derek B, and Chuba. I may be forgetting someone but you’re not going to win many games if those are your only guys producing. Frank just came to the team with a bad scheme, a bad plan, and bad energy. Never forget his awkward forced “whooo” in the locker room. That was one crazy season.
I reserve judgement on Bryce, Mingo, Icky, and company until the end of this season. There has to be growth… just has to be
Bryce was a rookie, he'll bounce back
Last year was bad we switched the offense 3 times terrible calling and everyone took a step back because of Frank Reich this year with canales at coach and having Damien Lewis at LG right beside him ickey should have a good year and our o line is going to dominate the run game
Excited to see him in a run first offense, i'm sure he will be a mauler like in College
He also looks slow due to trying to help his guard there is mistrust there I think hunter and lewis will make a huge difference

Dude - that whole "slingshot" thing at 3:00 was a bunch of nothing...cmon man there was no technique there...dude beat him..all Ikem did was get a hand on him...and play was already out of dude's range...Ike got lucky on that play
He's a mauler, not a pass blocker. Carolina will use him correctly this year. 30+ rushes/game and leverage the play action. Bet on it.
So translation he's great against run blocking but not good pass blocking right ?
Ikem will be cut after this season
