I'll be driving to Columbus with my two grandsons and finally we will see another 1000lb deadlift! It has been 4 long years and we are so glad he is back! They call him the King for a reason!
That’s nice and all Tom stoltman or Mitch hooper will win bet on it
@@thenormalyears Why be so insecure to a wholesome comment? He never said Thor would win.
@@thenormalyears calm down lil fella
You and the kids will have a lifetime memory together no one can take away
I hope you have fun with your grandkids
I'm so excited for the return of Thor.
So exciting, I think he'll need another year to return to his best though. 2025 he could peak?
Thor is back ? That Will go wild
It’s definitely big but I still think 2015/2016 when you have Shaw/ Big Z/ Eddie Hall/ Thor/ Licscis / Stoltman / JF Caron / M Kielakoski / Loz!!! this was epic time of WSM!!
Mateusz wasn’t up to the level we have come to expect and Stoltman wasn’t there till 2017.
@@anthonyproffitt5341 Luke was 2016 and Tom 2017. Mateusz a beast just sadly too many injuries. Always pipped for a winner in future of 2021 onwards just plagued by injuries sadly
I think 2012 WSM final had the strongest field. Thor, Z, Shaw, Lalas, Jenkins, Hollands, Caron
Yeah I agree. 12 was insane.
Thor only entered his peak in 2018, from then on he was unbeatable and the strongest in history.
I like the other 2 stones being added to the last event exactly because its such a hard final stone anyway. Usually majority dont even get the tombstone off the ground. This way there can be some more separation in points with the two smaller stones. And the best stone lifter will still come out on top regardless.
Considering grip will play a huge factor I wouldn’t be hugely surprised if Licis springs a surprise on his comeback.
He's second only to Mateus on stones. That's 3/5 events right there. I've got Martins winning this.
I'm not sure Martins grip is as good as it used to be. On his Scotland visit he seemed to be complaining about his hands
Mateusz has a chance here. If the big boys trade points on all the events, and he wins everything apart from the deadlift.
"If he wins everything.."
Now id say thats bold to say but he actually could. Im rooting for mateuzs
I would absolutely love to see Mateusz win but with a deadlift for max in a lineup with so many great pullers it's just not possible imo, he will be bottom two on deadlift barring a catastrophe for the other competitors
Mateusz at times win more events and still lose
I don't think Mateusz wins the axle in this lineup. Thor at his best would be up there but he isn't going to be after the pec tear. Tom and Mitch both look good for 4 reps on the axle, possibly more.
@@Adam-gn5khi agree with you.
I am a big fan of Mateusz, but he lose many points at dead lift, and few on axel I think. I think Mateusz will win the rest competitions, but It can't be enough to win, but I hope I am wrong 😊
I belive, due to how consistent they are and how training looks Mitch and Martins have the best chances, just banking good points on every event. Thor has chances too, he always has, and he has way more experience with the equipment at hand, wich helps a lot.
Everyone gonna need to be careful, this set of events just hit different, Apollon's wheel kicks different, so it is the Eleohant bar amd everything in this comp to be honest, like using an agressive approach might hurt your chances.
At the end this is the most open Arnold classic we've seen in history, gonna be amazing.
Oh and everybody should hurry before Thor gets his full strenght back, then gonna be game over (disclaimer: about 80% game over)
Yes, Evan’s will need to be patient and not just rip the bar off the floor.
Don't rule Tom out... if he gets top 3 on the elephant bar, he'll be a serious danger for the rest of the comp.
@@AlasdairThompson Tom might win the axle press. Tom is one of the favorites in the deadlift. I’d expect at least 3-4 guys fighting in the deadlift behind Thor and Tom is one that looks like he will finish top 3 in the Deadlift. I’m not sure how Tom’s stone pressing and stone to shoulder pressing are going, but Tom has struggled to make good adjustments on events that throw a curveball at him. The tomb stone is a tricky one for a lot of guys. Tom isn’t expected to be top 5 in the frame or dinnie stones.
@@AlasdairThompsonIf things go as planned he'd be lucky to finish 5th in the elephant bar. Lately he improved his deadlift but that was with a suit and a regular bar. At least 4 guys are expected to do better and maybe Evan
@@AlasdairThompson It sounds like they weren't listening... you clearly said *don't* rule Tom out, and then they did rule him out! Lol.
I'm soo exited for that show! Of course as a Pole I will be cheering for Mateusz and Oskar, but in my opinion the title will go to Hooper again. He's like machine, but also Martins is in great shape. That will be amazing to watch 🔥💪
Hoop's gunna be tough to beat. If Tom comes in the WSM winning kinda shape he'll win.
Not Polish myself, but I would like to see Mateusz get the win for the toffee donut diet
Same
@@Outland9000i don't think Tom will be that great here. He struggled at Stone to shoulder, he never finished the fragment while a lot of people should and overall his best events just aren't in this comp(atlas Stones, loading race, throwing)
Whoever wins this Arnold’s should also get the world’s strongest hands award. After the frame and dinny stones I bet grip will even come into play for some guys on the axle clean, especially with how torn up some hands will be. Breaking the stones off the ground in the final event will be a feat for these guys after all that
Really looking like grip strength will be the deciding factor here yeah
Worlds Strongest Pain Tolerance
I dont think anyone can confidently predict this one. Insane lineup.
Personally I think it might be the most significant Strongman comp' we have yet seen.
1.Tom 2. Thor 3. Martins for me
@@Outland9000 And a weird competition where even coming 5th would still be a massive accomplishment.
@@neal520crazy thinking the Moose wont even be top 3! He will definitely be top 2
We got The Moose, The Albatros, The Mountain, and The Dragon
The T-Rex. American Nightmare, Wolverine (max), Polish Terminator
And then regular strongman hah
All the animals will get crushed when they hit the mountain.
@@Kamyen316I thought everyone agreed that american nightmare is lame, Bobby is Professor Hulk
@@Kamyen316i never heard Max get called that
Strongman nicknames are pretty stupid to be honest
Sir Hafthor is the reason why I'm so excited to be a strongman fan again. If he comes 90% to his peak strength, it will be game over for the rest.
Strongman fan again? The sport has been on fire despite him being gone, you’ve been missing out on the best era of the sport.
@@richliving1619He is right though. Compare Thor's numbers at his best to everybody else and he comes on top due to consistency and power
@@richliving1619 Same scenario here as well. Thor is the strongest man who ever walked the planet and after you see him doing those incredible lifts in person, you don't feel like watching other guys lift lighter. He just tore his pec in April and it has not even been a year and we are talking about potentially breaking the world record! No other human can do that.
I don’t think Thor will win this because of the heavy grip components. Evan looks dangerous but his intensity may unbalance him, and he hasn’t lifted on the elephant bar, nor has he lifted the tombstone before. This competition is going to be crazy fun to watch!
@@SvenTheShoeBuyer Do not ever underestimate Thor's grip. Even with nerve damage, he beat both Brian and Martins in the 320 kg deadlift hold at 2019 wsm.
Love Martin's TH-cam show Strength Unknown
Great video Loz and Liz! I am happy to pick a top 5, since I do not care if I am wrong. 1. Martins, 2. Mateusz, 3. Mitch, 4. Tom, 5. Thor.
Great line up and can't wait to watch.. not keen on Dinnie stones in a comp, kinda boring to watch.
Well worth the watch and don't blame you for not predicting guys
I predict that Mitch will be dethroned.
Yep
The other competitors might hope 2018 Thor gets lost on the way. Can't wait for this comp!
Boys be like: "Everybody run and win as much as you can before Thor gets fulls strength again, run, run!".
He's gonna get lost behind Hooper's massive quads
@@jooka2010 Dude, Thor used to have 40+ inch quads when he was in the 200s and he is already 191 and he will not be small by any means. Hooper will look like an anorexic moose when he stand next to him on Friday. lmao
Exactly, people really overrate Hooper since the competition is just not as good as it used to be he seems more impressive than he actually is , no offense to him but Thor will prove exactly this @@paul_oliver_duggan29
@@paul_oliver_duggan29 Why are you gay?
I think the favorite right now has to be Mitch Hooper edging Martins
😈 Hey now
Frame Carry should be sponsored by 3M Tape. Because I predict top 3 will be Mateuz, Maxime and Martins (in that order) lol
😂
Lol, historically they do order in that way, so you have a really good point
Mitch seemed to be annoyed he dropped it last year, i think he'll be near the top. shouldn't effect the 3M sponsorship though :D
1.mateusz
2.hooper
3.tom
4.thor
5. martin
6.novikov
7. evans
8. bobby
9.maxime
10. L.evans
11. oscar
.... top three could change around but i see them being the ones that will be more consistant throughout -- 4th to 7th i see starting well but fade and start to loose to many vital points -- but again could change around in those positions -- if mateusz can do major damage limitations on deadlift and thrash the rest of the events -- then i see him winning but boy is this going to be exciting -- hope no one gets an injury and every has a safe comp
Congrats on the 150k subs almost, well deserved! All Liz' doing 😉
This show is going to be great but I am most excited to see MATEUSZ
I prefer Arnold's.. At least u know it's not fixed or biased.
The Arnold and the shaw classic this year will have crazy strength this year
I always root for the old guys, and I can’t believe Thor is the oldest guy there
Holy crap!
Its Bobby Thompson... If you judge it on appearance
@@LambClone lol
I never even considered that. It makes Hafthor that much more of a freak of nature honestly. I've never seen an athlete ever change their body composition so drastically so many times and just come back (seemingly) better. He's done it twice before. I honestly thought Hafthor would retire after his foot injury at WSM, not because of the injury, but because of how much he slimmed down 4 months after that. I was absolutely wrong.
@@Thulgore Jon Pall Sigmarsson went back and forth between strongman and bodybuilding. His body changes were more extreme, and died 32 years of age. Thor is going down that same road after just having another child, and morons are cheering him to that early grave every step of the way! I'd love to see him stay retired and become an old man like Magnus, but what do I know?
11 athletes x 5 events means 55 maximum possible points. It's pretty safe to say we're not going to see a 2018-2019 type result where Thor or anyone else essentially takes first or second on every event. Not with this lineup.
Then the assumption is that someone like Martins or Mitch can get third place or fourth on every event and win overall, which would look something like 8.5 points per event on average x 5 for a winning score of ~42-43. And then on the other hand Mateusz could legitimately win 3 of these events, and with a mid pack finish on the axle he could pull off a 40 point finish even with a zero on the deadlift.
Considering how hard it will be to stay in the top 3 on every event in this athlete lineup, this is probably Mateusz's best shot at winning in years. It's been said before but it would be ironic if he just needed the competition to be harder in order to win.
Brilliant analysis 👏
1. Tom 2. Martins 3. Thor
Tom is looking dangerous at the minute. If he turns up with his A game and performs how he looks to be capable of based on training he could take the title. It’s a big if though with Tom.
I think axel is going to cost Thor big.
Licis and hooper could be consistently in the top 3 to take the win.
Whoever comes out on top though I think it will be close. I don’t think anyone walks away with it.
So psyched for this contest. Just seen the latest Stoltman raw training video and Tom is looking VERY dangerous.
Thor's record on the elephant bar is 474kg Liz, not 476kg
You filthy casuals
474.5kg
are you even a fan? embarrassing
and nono i definitely didn't double check with google before replying, nooo
@@allylilith5605 sources are conflicting, some say 474kg, some say 1045lb which is pretty much 474kg on the dot, but others say 1046lb which would be 474.5kg as you say!
I don't know what to believe any more...
lol
@@branominal okay I just checked and on the official live stream they actually say 1045lbs consistently, so idk where the other .5 is coming from in those sources
but jesus christ, just seeing that again makes you realize that hafthor is truly a different breed. the fact that this was only his 2nd attempt and it moved like an opener, when last year no one came within 50lbs of it, god damn
Excited to be front row for this for the first time. It’s gonna be amazing.
Just finished watching the Stoltmans Training Luke’s looking super strong But Toms Enormous and lifting comp weights like toys .👍🇦🇺🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
such a stacked line up, ill be rooting for them all
L&R FROM ICELAND LOVE YOUR SHOW
Very excited for for competition and what the next couple of years in strongman could bring if guys can be more or less healthy. Could even see Trey and Wide Pavlo back in the mix by year end.
Epic breakdown you 2!!! Already excited, but now I'm 11/10 😂. Fit smaller strongman vs giants and with such a deep roster. Wow, just wow! I personally think this is the highest level ever in strongman competition.
We bought our tickets yesterday, so there are still some available
We all know Mateusz will be last on the deadlift, but I think he’s the only athlete who could earn 3 event wins….he could sneak off with the title if the others juggle points between themselves. Include Mitch and Martins and you have the top three (no order)
he wont be last on deadlift lol
YES! There has never been a competition this loaded. It's almost overloaded. This shit is insane.
My prediction? Pain. Plus, maybe the best strongman show of all time.
So excited for this one. It's gonna be an epic event for sure.
Tom stoltman could shock a lot on the stone to shoulder.
This is going to be such an awesome competition! Weird to hear you predicting about Thor! It feels like it’s been so long since he competed!
Gonna be a great battle!
I am expecting this to be the more competitive show yet . All of them are the best of the best in history . We will see many crazy feats but i expect to see some injuries due to the pressure thta will be creasted
I reckon it'll go:
1. Mitch
2. Thor
3. Martins
4: Matteusz.
Great breakdown, getting excited now. Streamed for free?! 😯🤯😍
I’ve got this order:
1. Martins
2. Mitch
3. Thor
4. Mateusz
5. Tom
Evan is a bit of a wild card for me too because he could definitely break the top 5
1. Licis
2. Stoltman
3. Mateusz
4. Thor
5. Hooper
I am stoked for this
This has to be the hardest show prediction ever. I can see like 7 different guys potentially winning or coming in 10th
To point out it was said that a certain someone might have had tacky on to complete 5 reps when it wasn’t allowed and it was overlooked not to screw up the event/broadcast. 🙄 so it might be closer than assumed.
I really want Tom Stoltman to win this. It's looking like it's going to be a great overall event though with so many good people in this!
Forearm recovery is going to be key, I can help with that.
Loz/Liz, are you guys making the trip this year?
Tom's looking scarily good. I think he might do it!
I've got Mitch in 2nd and Thor in 3rd.
It’s going to be good competition, I like Licis and Stoltman for 1 and 2
Could you press an axle with a mixed grip? That way you wouldn't have to switch your grip halfway through the clean and safe some energy.
No
It's kind of disappointing that we have two farmers type events in the most exciting lineup of all time, but very excited for the stone event, and to see the axle back. My top 4 are Martins, Mitch, Thor, and Tom, in no particular order, but I can see Mateusz mogging 3 or 4 events and getting pushed up by other guys.
Right!? Would have loved to see a squat event or the Wheel of Pain.
Just cant wait already! Curious how Evan will do on the elephant deadlift. Keep seeing him do his aggressive rip on a regular bar. Can see the whip screw him
I can see thw dinnie stones really screw up the roster on who will place etc. Really dont enjoy its in this top style of events
If you look at the other guys they’re doing their best to replicate the elephant bar. Thor has the advantage here because he has an exact replica of the elephant he had manufactured for him in like 2017. He also looks the best in training. But other guys like martins have added the mammoth collar extenders to try and mimic the elephant bar. You’re right though that Evan is just deadlifting like he normally is on a regular deadlift bar ripping the weight off of the floor. It’ll be like the rogue invitational where he failed on the deadlift tower. He’s gonna just fall forward due to the whip of the bar.
Yeah I think he will lose points on the deadlift as it will though him off, also he is training the stones with sandbags and just launching them up to his shoulder which he won’t be able todo with the stones
So hard to call, I think it is whoever wants it most will get it
I want Tom to win, but so many good ones, its hard to even pick top 3, one slip can make a massive difference
1. Martins. 2. Mitch, 3. Mateus, 4. Thor, 5. Tom, 6. Evan.
Can somebody explain why Thor his last deadlift session was 2 weeks before the strongman classic? Won't taking 2 weeks off from an exercise make you weaker?
Deadlift by itself is a very exhausting exercise. And when you do 1 rep max it drains your energy even more. So you need somewhere around two weeks to recover properly for another heavy session. And actually the biggest problem always not with the muscle but with nerve system. Deadlifting puts a lot of stress on it.
@@ВалентинДудаев I deadlift once per week and recover just fine? But I guess with weights this heavy it's a different story.
@@bearstrengthwithinexactly. Thor says he also deadlifts every week, but one week he has heavy session, the next week he has light session in order to fully recover.
The way Tom has matured this past year he should podium, be great to see Novikov, Licis, and the main man Thor, hard to guess this year.
would like more short form videos on quick topics like these. 5-7 minutes
Apolyon Wheel - trainer Loz starts to shine through. Giving the athletes instructions to take the whole time. It's sweet.
1) tom 2) hooper 3) martins 4) thor 5) matuz
I feel like Mateusz is the favorite for every event but the deadlift! My god if he could get his deadlift right he is unstoppable
Don't think he is the favorite for axle press currently. He has had hesitation on all overhead events since the tricep injury
@@bronchoped Ok sadly! He was a freaking beast on every shoulder and moving event, hope he gets it back
@@matthieucarrier8136on his last training video, Mateusz hardly pulled 380kg. It looked like it was his absolute max.
380 and even 400 kg deadlift most likely will give him the last place unfortunately.
@@ВалентинДудаев bullshit. he wont be last on the deadlift.
@@Daniel-zj8wk really doubt that. Everyone expect this new guy Oskar Ziółkowski pull more then Mateusz. So at best he will be 9/10 on deadlift
I think singleton is looking great on the axle and has an outside chance of taking the event or being in the top three.
After watching your video with Martins, I'd like to say Tom is (in my opinion) the out and out favourite. Mitch and Martins are the wild cards (to turn the phrase Martins used about Tom) who will gather up the points others may drop. Tom is the only one who, if he turns up good, can't be beaten. Everyone else is good enough if Tom isn't. That's the way round I think people aren't looking at the situation. Basically it's Tom's to lose. Nothing away from any of the guys.
Gut feeling the winner for contest needs to win the deadlift and have good finishes the rest of the way because every event after deadlift mateausz can very possibly win and deadlift winner will have to hold on, if Bobby wins deadlift and with guys like Oscar and Maxime possibly finishing under mateausz in deadlift this could be the major contest win for him
I may have missed it, is the final stone to the shoulder the same stone they've used in the past and the same one matuesz used for his 5 reps?
When is the event?
When is it?
2016 Arnold.
It's such a hard competition to predict, but i agree with you that Martins and Hooper probably have the best shot.
Having Sebastian Oreb in his corner has to be a huge asset for Thor when it comes to his deadlift. Got to think that Martins and Mateusz would really benefit from working with a top level powerlifting coach purely to focus on getting their deadlifts up. Evan Singleton would too; he's strong as hell but his deadlift technique is not efficient.
Yeah Evan tends to yank the bar far too aggressive and it throws his position off
What if Mateusz gets last on deadlift and then wins every event after and wins overall that would be a sight to see.
Such a STACKED line-up for sure! Thor seems to be mentioned in every second comment or so. I am a big fan of Hafthor, but I am also a realist. He has been gone from the sport, nearly 4 years. His return is SO VERY welcome and exciting. And he looks great in his training footage. His progress and strength gains, have been insane! Deadlift is his event to lose. The other events? Don't run in his favor, and this is a VERY tough field of competitors. As much as I wanna see the big man win this, I cannot predict that he will. Like any sport, many variables come into play at any time. As Loz said, one mistake and that opens the door for others to overtake you and bury you. So, I have no predictions, other than this one... It's gonna be one HELL of an event to watch! 👊👊👊
Yeah I very much doubt Thor wins too but he isn't near 100 percent so it's not surprising and I don't think he really expects to either. He'll still perform well.
No Gav Bilton??
Gav is doing the Arnold’s UK in Birmingham two weeks later, but not the Ohio show.
Where can I watch it on line?
I've got Martins winning with 47.5 Points, Mitch in second with 45.5 points, and Thor rounding off the podium with 40.5 points. I'm predicting several ties on the axle
Thor wont be even top5 imo
@seniorita4801 that's definitely possible, there are 3 or 4 events he could drop too many points on
@@chsstagemanager2012 yea, exactly. Frame carry, stone event, even axle press, i see more than 4 athletes that can be better in axle than thor.
@seniorita4801 can be is the key phrase. While his pec tear will probably be a big hindrance, it might not be. I'm banking on him doing better than everyone expects and tying for second. I fully understand that this is more hopeful than realistic though. Same with frame, he's one of the few guys in this comp who have actually finished it. He obviously wont win, but I don't see him dropping that many points
Well this aged poorly 😂
As a Canadian, I have to go with Mitch.
🌶️🌶️🌶️ come on tom !!
Oskar's been training on VERY heavy dinnies. Never doubt the polish when rocks are involved
What model of Thor will we see? He lost a lot of weight for MMA events. Does he have the size to compete as in the past?
He is in his standard strongman form right now. He somewhere around 190 kg at the moment.
He is going to be the heaviest athlete at the Arnold. “Does he have the size?” 100% yes
As a fellow Moose myself Hooper has in the bag. Non biased of course 😅
Thor looks humongous in that thumb nail I forgot how big he used to be.
My money's on Martins! Great guy, great strongman.
IT WILL BE ONE HELL OF A BATTLE BETWEEN,, THOR ,,MARTINS AND TOM ,
I wouldn't bet against Tom, but I think this is Martin's competition. Martins, Moose, Tom. Thor a close 4th.
Highest pedigree because there are so many WSM and Arnolds winners but will have to see how they perform to say if it's the best lineup as several could not be where they used to be.
Every new year is likely the "strongest" due to the progression of the sport though.
Hey Loz, is there a stream that we can sub to, to watch live? Or will I be following it here with you guys? 😃
Edit: I should have waited to the end before asking! 😂😂
Definitely
Exciting times things have been dull for awhile. Is your trusted source Matt Rhodes? 😜
yes
I can make no predictions, the amount of potentials just makes it so there is too much randomness and chaos. There will be events where greats can suddenly be 6th.
I feel like this is good for Mateusz though, since if there is someone I see dominating aside from one event, it's him, but a lot of competitors might suddenly score poorly in a few events this year.
I predict I'll watch and see who wins! 😁👍
