Thank you! Its tough since theres no real rulebook for solo play I guess everyone does it a little differently. I assume a lot of the things I am doing will change over time but we have to start somewhere
when I finally begin to record and post my own adventures I'm totally doing it like this. I enjoy a well polished production like Me Myself and Die but this candid, honest delivery is just so entertaining in it's own way. I love it.
I didn't know about this game. Very interesting! Reminds me of simpler (and deadlier :D) times playing the Red and the Blue boxes in high school :D One thing, though. My narrativist brain is bugged by the fact that those goblins simply vanished after they ran away. Shouldn't they have come across the orcs while running? Maybe alert them, join them or, who knows, be attacked by them? I know old D&D never really cared much about continuity beyond a dungeon room, but my 40s self feels like this was a missed opportunity :D Anyway, great video! Keep up the good work
@@FlyingSoloRPG I guess I shouldn't say it's the usual thing. But the way I play, it's the full damage of the weapon ex. d8 + d4. 8 dmg + whatever the d4 rolls. 12 dmg total possible. The basic fantasy site has a cool PDF about crits and fumble too!
That was great. I enjoyed watching that and am looking forward to next session. I have started my own BF solo game and it can be tough with OSR. I am finding the leveling up is a long process, so I am interested to see how you plan on doing it. Are you going to use treasure amounts for XP as well as just fighting XP? In regards to the character death, I don't think you did a morale roll on that turn, I can't remember if you do them every round if there has been casualties, or only if more than half. But, I did find that I had quite the turnover in characters in early game. I started to take a couple of locals with my crew when I re-visited a place where I had lost characters. Looking forward to part 2.
Thanks for taking the time - After seeing the XP amounts I can't imagine how many fights you'd have to survive to just get to level 2 I mean, we lost a character in the second encounter. Earned 200 xp, split 3 ways... thats like, another 30 fights to survive sheesh! I don't THINK this system uses treasure for XP... or does it? that would certainly make things a lot more manageable. I guess you can make progress by getting better gear in any case
@@FlyingSoloRPG I have read a lot of discussions on the Basic Fantasy forums and everyone pretty much says "play how you want to." There are certainly many discussions on Gold for XP and I am going to start using it as my Magic/Rogue character needs like 1.5 times the XP to get to level 2 and given that I am not using monsters that are in their level range, it seems like he will take way to long to level up. He has already had to run away from more battles than he has fought.
I like your style. Jump in and play, figuring it out as you go. Good fun! Thanks for posting, hope you continue to play and post it.

The dwarf should have run after those dirty dirty goblins
A crit is usually full damage plus a d4 😊
Noted! Full damage as in only roll the D4?

@@FlyingSoloRPG yep roll the d4 and add it to whatever the weapon is 🙂

Where do you get those hex tiles you're using?
They are from Gloomhaven and/or the lord of the rings journeys in middle earth game
The first hex tile we see must be from Frosthaven because I don't recognize it from Gloomhaven.
what are the tiles ?
they are board game tiles, some from Frosthaven some from Journies in Middle Earth
Nice one !
