This is by far the best podcast you’ve done Rick.... very deep and meaningful!! Congrats tubes on the 5 years sober, my sister has an affliction with alcohol and it really does put strain on family relationships and I’m proud to say she’s turned her life around and is 7 years sober

Just an add on to your first Dear Rick question, I was 35 years old when I started playing golf, I never had a lesson until I was about 40 then it wasn't until the last 4-5 years that I took more lessons to get better and I am now 61 years old, but with what I have learned and watched on TH-cam from people like yourself and other TH-camrs I am now playing the best golf I have ever played and my handicap is now a 12, so there is always potential to get better at any age I think. Cheers Rick for all of your videos that have helped people get better and enjoy golf more.

I love how open you are Tubes about your issues. The last time I listened to you on the podcast. I was aware I had an issue and wasn’t really willing to give it up and I now realize everything that I’ve done or gone through hearing you talk about how it used to be. It was the same way for me as well which is such an encouragement to continue to keep pushing forward. 5 months sober today and I’m doing it for my wife and son. Guy and Rick Absolutely loved this edition. It was like being with a few mates enjoying the company and banter. Seeing Ange's stress and anguish at his brothers addiction and fall in despair, brought me to tears, reminding me of the struggles my own brother endured. My dad played golf with Sir Alex Ferguson in a celebrity golf am competition 25-30 years ago at Shrigley Hall near Macclesfield. I was with my dad in our buggy when Sir Alex lost control of his buggy on a slippy slope and got thrown out of the buggy. I still remember it to this day. He was a really nice guy. He invited me and my day to a game at old Trafford as his guests and we watched the game from right next to the Man United bench.
I actually like the phones away rule - as Rick says, this is your leisure time and time to relax. Removing the phone from those areas is great to ensure people interact and/or relax. Some traditional country/sports clubs have dedicated rooms for work (laptops and phones) and keep this separate from the social rooms.
With an alcoholic in the family it's encouraging to hear their story and it might just get better. We've tried everything so far so I guess it really is just down to the individual

I have got a handicap of 30 and has now dropped to 27.8. I thought i was doing well and really wanted to break 100. Managed to do it in 5 rounds shooting 94. Since then i am back to beetween 104 -112. Having listen to your vlog i am putting to much pressure on myself. It will happen again soon. Keep up the good work
Massive golf fan, massive football fan - so loving this collaboration. Going off what Tubes said about not enjoying watching Golf, I completely agree. I think the issue is, with Football you are watching two teams, you are supporting one team and they are involved from start to finish. With golf, your favourite golfer may have an awful day and not be shown on tv once. If the golfers competing to win aren't any of your favourites, it's difficult to get excited about who wins and who doesn't. At least with football, you've got two sets of 45 minutes of intense competition. Golf is completely the opposite and more akin to Snooker like Ange said.
wow just wow amazing to address such an issue in this format. I come for the fun but your content continues to impress. As a US viewer were we don't open up and assume the UK is posh and closed off but the frankness of this cast was a bright light on how we can help.
A question I think should be is discussed is the situation for a ‘newbie’ to actually get a access to a golf membership. And some that charge extra large joining fees on top of the initial annual membership
Love these guys , their channel is fantastic love the interviews. I I would still wear sporty golf gear too , it’s like putting a uniform / football kit on its all part of my game set up. I’m not a football fan but they are awesome , and show a different side to footballers and other famous people that you never usually see . Very entertaining

To answer the question yes an ole dog can learn new tricks e.g. fading, drawing, course management to name a few. Great discussion gents. Most important when your having a bad round, step back,, relax, smoke a stogie and enjoy the day.
Just a suggestion, Any chances of creating a TH-cam Tour ? Would be amazing to get together a few of the guys and see how they play over 4 days. I know Pete Finch would be killing it, but would be keen to see that happen, see if youtube could sponsor one for the boy and girls, so much good golf content now on TH-cam.
I remember being at a golf club, slightly higher end than I was used to at the time and the group I was with playing a society day were allowed to drink in the members bar which was nice. However I was given a future warning by one of the members about not having a glass for my drink and drinking straight out of the bottle.

Haha ... picking it up from 40 ... that's 10 years earlier then I did. Damn ... now I feel I might not make any kind of progress. In the Netherlands the start for everyone is at Hcp54 and thus you need to grind down and in now 2 years of doing rounds and 2,5 years of practice I'm at 22.6. Target this calendar year 18.9 that needs to be touched ... but I feel that will be pretty tough. Stay metal yall. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Great content yet again. I like wearing golf clothing while playing as I wear a uniform at work all week. I get the odd comments ' all the gear no idea' but I couldn't care less. I'm not a good player but love being out playing with friends.
Should do shout out for golf courses that have gone above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate players.......just to balance the negativity if you do decide to go on the crappy rules at clubs wagon. Both would have merit for sure.

Went to play a work society day and a friend had black socks on and was refused to play. Ended up having to buy some £10 golf socks from the pro shop
