Great video, I love this tele I was on their website earlier looking at their custom shop models. Vintage has always been great for the money. My vintage Les Paul was really good the only visible fault was the dots were not 100 percentage central and a glue mark on the neck. Frets were nice, pickups were sweet, switching was good and tight too. It was better than most Gibsons I was looking at. I just couldn't get used to the heel joint being bulky compared to my neck through so I gave it to my niece.
Great video, and I think you are right! I bought the non-relicked one online (pretty good price). My issue has been mainly with the switch & metal plate - v wobbly, and the jack socket has been really problematic. They are obviously pretty cheap parts. It won't be a big deal to replace it, but it wouldn't really be gig-worthy before fixing. The neck is good, the pickups are fine.. Replaced the neck oen with a Fender, and kept the bridge. .
I've got one. It's a proper guitar. Nearly 20 years since I bought used. Awesome. Not quite the same model. This one looks like an upgrade - colour, bridge, saddles, finish. My fav electric for £100! Get one. It doesn't feel like a toy like my Harley Benton.
Be interesting to get your opinion on a brand new one given how long youve been using yours. I still believe there great once you or a tech actually finishes them properly - in my shop days i must of had atleast 20 different new vintage guitars and most of them needed considerable work, and some i even had to send back and that seems to be common across everyone that sells them. Funny thing is the proshop models that go through there in house UK tech team are amazing - so they have the expertise still. The other thing to note is despite high official RRP - they always sell under that new making this brand still affordable which is quite something in these times.
Like all lower priced guitars you might need to spend more to get them to play properly. I have one of these and there's quite a large gap between the neck and body in the neck pocket and it needed a fret level to stop the dead notes and a proper set up. I"m not mad on the neck shape either ..it's ok...I actually swapped it out for a fatter Allparts neck.
Got the reissue 52 and reissue 62 teles and icon v6 strat and I love those things! Great to see a video on vintage again. And a very fair point your making. Drop shipping guitars is like giving birth in a forest. Sure it can be without issues but the possibility for trouble is far too great. And indeed they have an amazing sound and feel so it is such a bigger shame. BTW do you know what the difference is between the icon and the reissue version?
I’ve had a few Vintage brand guitars over the years and was a top fanboy…BUT all of them had the same problem…necks, either they twist, bow or the truss rod has problems, not straight away but after a couple of years it starts to happen. I had the Thomas Blug Strat recently bought new…the bukka switch wouldn’t stop in and the nut slot had been cut too low and too wide. Not great and now Trev Wilkinson has gone from the brand it will be interesting to see what happens now. I’ve had too many problems with them to go back to them now though…unless I’ve just been very unlucky I wouldn’t recommend them at all. The Wilkinson pickups are great however and I would recommend them for sure.
@@Paul-D yes quite a lot of guitars over the years with no problems at all, I’m very strict when it comes to humidity control etc. The vintages seem to get neck problems after a couple of years use..and QC wasn’t too good in the last couple of years either. The earlier models were much better imho.
They are poly finished over the top of all the relic sadly. Although it is abit thinner then alot of other guitars so thats atleast a step in right direction
Like all Vintage brand guitars, it's just an overpriced copy; they are taking the piss charging that much for their stuff. There are far less expensive copy guitars out there which are way better than that thing.
The RRP is mental. But, its never what dealers actually sell them for really (speaking for UK) you can always get them wayyyyyy cheaper new. And even then the value only applies if theyve been properly finished.
Bought a V52 Icon. Love it! looking at a Vintage V100 AFD Paradise next. These guitars are so underrated. Out of the box good too. Great vid
They are seriously underrated - but that is because most of them come out the box so badly 😪
Vintage I think is a brand that has come back to good quality low cost guitars. I've got a Les Paul and a Strat that are great!

Pauly, that's pretty good Marr playing there.
They sound quite good but I sold my Vintage due to weight issues- not mine. Eat or heat, lad. 😂😂😂

Be interesting to see how well they do with the Proshop models theyve started pushing more

good review! i'm gonna buy the reissued version and....why guitars seems to have each one a different shape of yellow?
I think its just slight differences as the batches are produced and come through
Defo there is a magic in these guitars ! V52 tele and V96 bass owner . To be honest why would you need anything else?
Love the video! Just subscribed
Thanks for subbing!

I think its the mark for wether or not they are distressed/aged
And good analogy on the drop shipping haha
@@Paul-D :) thanks!

Hmm interesting point on longevity there, i assume youve had other guitars kept in the same way that didnt get those issues too?

10:02 $600 --- 350# ($445 delivered, I'd buy in a heartbeat)
😳
I have this one for sale for £200 now. Madness
@@Paul-D In the UK I take it ? But they are $800 on Amazon ? The V6 is$550 with a 1 star rating, the V6 Icon is the same price.
I have been thinking of getting a Vintage for a long time, but last night I watched Dave Simpson's video on the Vintage brand, very disappointing.
Why buy those guitars with Harley Benton Teles much cheaper and very good right out of the box?
You might be right honestly, Harley Benton have dodged me so far - ive gone VERY far out my way to try many guitars - just not Harley benton yet haha
have you ever reviewed fretking guitars before?
No i havent although they come through JHS too so id be pretty sure what to expect
website says poplar body
Mustve changed in the year or so since the vid.
Do you know what finish is this? poly or nitro
They are poly finished over the top of all the relic sadly. Although it is abit thinner then alot of other guitars so thats atleast a step in right direction
C.V. about $420 U.S. ---- Vintage v52 about $460 - 600 U.S. as of late 2023
$600 is way too much i think

A guy left one of these at my house. Completely dreadful guitar.
