Frankly, none of the guests on the show have watched Bournemouth at home this season or last season. The Cherries engineer chaos by their intense high press like Liverpool do very well at Anfield..That is their main strength ergo they are one of the best at it in the League. The physical characteristics of the their stadium is a significant factor why teams struggle so much to maintain possession there at the start of the game ...even Luton Town used the same tactic at their ground last season but the Cherries are a much better team and well-practiced being in the the PL consecutive seasons . As a matter of fact defensively we made the best start away at Vitality out of all the visiting teams to have played there this season . For instance ,earlier in the season they peppered Chelsea especially n the 1st half but the visitors came back into the game in 2nd half as the intensity dropped from the home side.
So, attributing blame to everyone on basis of factors that dont exist and concocted or figments as opposed to those that do exist and material to the outcome of this game is not fair and very misleading. Case in point is the amount of criticism being levelled at the Manager for subbing it Kiwior for Sterling with 3 quarters of the game remaining is downright absurd and insane.

Why does Mikel hesitate to bring on the most obvious players . And why does he so willingly bring on the most , (whether starter or sub ) unsuited combination . Cannot understand why he just won’t just shift Ben white into Saliba’s position . Had he played Ethan from the beginning , he may have gotten more out of Trossard , Sterling and Kai .

I asked Tom Canton on a show last week if Mikel knew who his starters and finishers were. Seems unclear, especially when we have injuries.

Zinchenko is the most natural Odegaard replacement, he is very creative, left footed, and can do great as 10, his career and reputation is ruined only because he is forced to play LB when he is a natural creative midfielder.

As much as I blame players for the red card I remember the game between Arsenal and Aston Villa when Saka was fouled and it was a yellow card because the referee said the incident was too far away from the goal. It was the same distance and it happened to Martinelli against Leicester and it was too far from the goal but with Arsenal it is always a red card this is not fair

Le Grove said something key on last night’s Monday Madness and how he thought it was important the players didn’t start feeling like the fans were about officials. Once that sinks into a team, it’s hard to shift that mentality. We have to move on. Take a listen and let me know what you think! 🫡

Agree with Dan about Merino. Very worrying that we sold our creative mf’s and he didn’t use Nwaneri and Merino looks super under baked for this league currently. It looks like he can’t even think as fast as the things that are moving around him. The squad is not ready to take on city.
I don’t think we’re mentally weak, but I think we are weak in depth. We have about 15-16 players I think Mikel and all of us trust, but few injured and we’re back to the usual 11-12 that get run into the ground and performances suffer. These reds just make it worse because there’s extra load and a lot of shifting and changing going on. Looks like a horrible start in terms of luck this season. I’m sure if luck starts going our way we’ll really see it swing our way.

He likes to operate with a tight squad doesn’t he? But it always costs us at some point in the season. Keeping Trossard in the 10 was the simple thing to do.
Combating the adversity and not overthinking it is key. Our margin for error so narrow now.

Different Arsenal team, same exact issues... the team is starting to doubt itself, we are in a crisis with players out, and the squad is paper thin, and I put this down to recruitment ... we were crying out for a top striker, and by some bizarre reason, Edu thought that Sterling was the answer and NOT the player we were waiting for. Artetas tactics was like 20/21, which was very poor and worrying

  • @martinharvey2390
    @martinharvey2390 วันที่ผ่านมา

Not sure where to start on this show Sophie. Firstly while it's fresh in my mind, Merino is not a "defensive minded midfielder " as claimed by Brandon I believe, he's a box to box midfielder who incidentally played at 10 for Spain during the international break so his inclusion, given Trossard needed to cover Martinelli's absence, was understandable, although most wanted Nwaneri to start. I think the thought process behind it was Bournemouth's midfield can be dominated physically and I'm guessing that was the plan, 3 physically intimidating midfielders.
Also I don't know how big a squad Dan thinks we should have but there is a limit. He bangs on about Eze but realistically where would he play when everyone is fit? He's not a winger, he's not really like Odegaard, he's an attacking midfielder. So for a start would we pay the sort of money Palace would demand for someone to sit on the bench (Eze is similar to Smith Rowe and he didn't fit our system so Eze probably wouldn't either) and also would Eze want to come knowing he's just a squad option? Probably not.
We were missing 2 of our first choice front 3, our most influential and creative midfielder, a starting defender and then your best defender gets sent off. A slightly unexpected loss and the fanbase goes nuts and they all think they have the answer when the reality is most haven't a clue and are "I'd have done this or that" but they're reacting with the benefit of hindsight, it's another matter entirely doing it in the heat of battle and having to make decisions under pressure.

@@HighburySquad@HighburySquad I'll be really honest with you Sophie I didn't listen after Brandon, absolutely respect everyone has a right to their opinion but some people think it's like playing a video game. I think the pod from the Vision got it spot on when they said none of us know what the game plan was which then obviously goes out of the window when Saliba gets sent off. On that, I thought Webb's big thing this year was a higher bar for VAR intervention and giving the on field decision more credence (unless of course it's a massive mistake) clearly there was enough subjectivity around this that the VAR (our nemesis Gillett, a self confessed Liverpool fan, nothing like vested interest is there) had no business intervening. First I don't see a situation which unfolds 50 yards from goal, where the forward hasn't even got the ball under control, as a clear goal scoring opportunity. The other thing is PGMOL leave themselves in a situation whereby a Liverpool fan in in a position to affect their next opponentsthI thought it was an utterly irresponsible appointment which leaves them open to ridicule.
Maybe I will listen to the rest of the show later 😉
Chin up lass and don't let the misguided in the comments get to you xx

I prefer not to dwell into a "what ifs" discussion such as talking about the lineup becuase it will be with the benefit of hindsight and you can lean either way with good reasons. I also don't want to talk about conspiracies because this time it is a red card without a doubt and we should always err on the side of caution by being disciplined with the stakes being so high.
My problem with us right now is players like Trossard, Saliba, Martinelli, and Kiwior are not stepping up at a crucial time when we're struggling with multiple injuries, this is when players need to carry the team on their backs to get us over the line and I don't think they understand the severity of the situation and its potential impact down the line for our season. By doing silly things such as booting the ball behind our defenders, taking big risks and passing the ball back to our keeper when you can kick it out for a throw, getting yourself sent off and missing games, or missing a clear cut goal scoring opportunity, you've actually let your whole team down and your teammates should demand better performances than that. You want to be champions then you start playing like you deserve to be one, not like how I just described above.
As a fan my role is to sympathize with our team because I don't expect us to be perfect with so many crucial players missing. On the other hand the players can't feel sorry for themselves, they need to see that the perofmances up to this point so far is unacceptable by the standards they set themselves at and by the goals they want to achieve. I want to see players playing like they want to be the impact and not want to be the cause for scrutiny. I expect a response quickly from the players and they really need to get their heads down because our watershed moment in our season has come unexpectedly early already.

It’s looking good for Liverpool this season - Slots first season and he could well win the league.
What does that say about Arteta and his 5 years or so?
When are people going to realise that Arteta is not as good as he thinks he is.
If Arsenal win nothing again this season, should Arteta stay on and do 6/7/8 years at the helm?
