For my birthday last year my wife and I went to the final fantasy distant worlds concert, and they did the Hevansward theme, and played the trailer on a projector in the back. My wife had just finished base arr, so that's how she found out the ARR patches weren't going to be sunshine and rainbows.
Fun fact: The dragon that attacks Meteor in the trailer is the wrong dragon. I forget where he said it, but Yoshi-P mentioned that the art team sent the wrong dragon over to the CGI team.
Well they had a lot going on back then having to start work on an expansion after the development of ARR while keeping 1.0 going. I can understand the mistake 😅
I can’t get enough of the trailers, the cinematography and the music is always a pure spectacle and generate an unbelievable amount of hype. Heavensward especially is such a treat. Onward we March!
Funny thing is, when you play Dragoon and did the Questline before coming to HW then some Characters will recognize you in the Main Story and have different things to say
If you do decide to level Dragoon you will get a decent bit of altered quest text referencing that you did which is cool. You don't get as much, if any stuff like that in later expansions though so there is no pressure to level something from like, 1-70 for a lot of bonus dialogue. But if you do want to level the trailer job(s) for each expansion, then for ARR it is Warrior, HW is Dragoon, Stormblood is both Monk and Samurai, Shadowbringers is Dark Knight, Endwalker is Paladin, and Dawntrail is currently unknown, but highly likely to be whatever the new melee the expansion will release with.
My favorite one of these is being a healer in stormblood, when a certain event happens early on and someone gets hurt. "Why are you just standing around?! Help me heal them!"
The chorus near the end of the trailer is in English and dragon language. You should know the dragon language has its own significance but you should find out for yourself.
Its a different more spoiler-y song that is retconned to be sung by hydaelyn. I can’t particularly say any more about it without spoiling anything though
Out of the melee jobs, Dragoon is the most frustrating to run dungeons with because its optimal rotation changes more heavily more often (Black Mage has the same problem, over in the magic DPS). Basically it runs two 5-hit attack lines and Heavensward is where parts 4 and 5 get added in. The events in both trailers are pretty hype - All the stuff from 2.5 and then foreshadowing to a whole-ass army of dragons coming at the city. 2.0's trailer was world-focused - the cinematography around the release of Bahamut was good but simpler, while 3.0's has more finesse and is immediately event-focused, zooming in on your experiences (and, arguably, emotional state) as WoL. I love 'em both, and I think technically I find 2.0 more enjoyable/hype, but it did also seem clear to me that the team was Better At This now than when they made 2.0's trailer. I can't wait to see you meet Count Dad.
Worth noting, only the 4th attack gets added during HW. You _get_ both abilities, but you don't get Lance Mastery, the passive that lets you use both, until level 64, since Dragoon still only has a 4-part combo until then. They really do need to go do a thorough revisit on a bunch of jobs' leveling progression. BLM is notorious for it, but so many jobs get _core_ mechanics super late. Even _new_ jobs. Reaper is literally just a 123 monkey until 50 when they finally get Blood Stalk and their Soul gauge, and they don't get Gibbet and Gallows, letting Blood Stalk be more than just an occasional oGCD, until 70, and even then don't get their Shroud Gauge until 80. Meanwhile, Summoner has their core mechanics (burst cooldown window followed by 3 gem summons) at level 26, and Monks, Samurai, and Red Mages all have their essential core mechanics by 50. And then there's that little part where some jobs (like Dragoon, unfortunately, as well as Scholar) don't get their first AoE attack until the mid 40s, while other jobs, like all 3 physical ranged, get theirs literally by Sastasha.
And now you see why I made such a big deal about not watching this way back in your first video about joining XIV. I'll never understand why in the world they would put that in the trailer. Especially since, if I remember right, the trailer released the same day as the patch where it happened.

Yea they sent hreas over and the cgi team copy pasted him all over for the horde
i always wondered why that was, i figured they were just bait and switching to avoid spoilers or something

my god hw will crush your soul and it will be a feast for us veteran-emotional vampires!
HEAVENSWARD HYPE!! I love this trailer so much
I main DRG (and MNK), and I can only recommend leveling DRG. Love it. The quests, the lore, the aesthetic... It's a blast.

Reaper also gets dialogue in EW

2:52 someone in chat said dragoons are posers. We only pose on top places because we are the best
And laying flat of the floor

"Okay, I want to level dragoon!" - Literally, everyone after this trailer first dropped.

The juxtaposition of such a badass trailer.... To then log into your 🤡 lookin ass character. Gold.
that trailer gives me chills
Behold: The Award Winning Heavensward Expantion
And now you see why I made such a big deal about not watching this way back in your first video about joining XIV.

Lmaooooo yeah that's wild. I'm glad I waited! Each trailer is an exciting way to enter the expansions!
Fun fact: the song is singed in the dragon language
you think that is good. you ain't seen nothing yet.
Time to brush up on your dragon~
That guy is Meteor :)
Chat's wrong. Meteor, the placeholder WoL in the trailers, is not John FinalFantasy. John is the FF1 WoL, and he's a completely different guy in XIV.
It’s a meme. It’s not that deep.
I think he was memeing back
