Thanks to all involved. I am an old greeny that loves to see these young artists playing as one. The sharing of beautiful moments with love. Thank you.
I'm just drooling over these two gorgeous hand-made guitars!! Beautiful tones, awesome responsive pickups... They sound this good even outdoors. But of course, it's JL and MM playing them. They are undoubtedly the creme de la creme of contemporary Jazz guitarists in their generation. Thanks for posting this!!!
So happy to have gotten to experience this from like a foot away. This was the first time they had played together. Really cool to see two such different and influential guitarists play together.
this is amazing. I have never heard two guitarists follow eachother better than this, they are so free and each moment is full of swing and melody, it's the perfect rendition of this song! (All the things you are in particular)
Yeah I was wondering if this was the first time they had played together. I figured it was and thrilled to know that it is. They really do complement each other very well. It's an incredible pairing. I really wish they would put out a live album of their playing, but I'm really happy to just have this. Really good footage for this monumental meeting. Both of these guys are pushing the limits of modern jazz guitar and to have all of their first session together recorded is really amazing.
Julian Lage is the seasoned guitarist here. Mike is a great guitarist too but Julian has such a dynamic approach to the guitar and telling a story with every solo, using dynamics in his playing. He’s quite amazing. Now his playing has grown even more to playing totally different than this in his own group. The thing I liked about is video is they both listened to each other to push the other on. Beautiful exchange here. Don’t get me wrong Mike Moreno sounds great, I’d like to hear him now! Thanks for sharing.
ThankX for this beautiful moment here... 1/ How my heart sings (Earl Zindars), 2/ Body and Soul (Johnny Green), Out of nowhere (Johnny Green). It's a big pleasure to see end hear those two guys playing such beautiful melodies that are traditionaly played in jazz since so long, they do it so well... Before writing unpleasant comments, go and listen what they are doing with their own music ! it's a jazz workshop here, jazz is a traditionnal music too ! They are tremendous players !
when they are tradin' on all the thing tune i almost came, fluffing amazing moreno got one of most creative and mellow line ever for modern jazz guitarist, while julian got the most sweetest and vintage cool line ever this video is better than DOPE
Before this video was another popular video of this that had hundreds of thousands of views, but was sadly removed. So this jam turns out to be their highest watched video.
Kristen, to me, you seem to be missing the big point. These guys sound no less than like themselves, and that is what I look for. And them selves interact with each other like no other people, ever, on the planet. what they create is much like a fingerprint, unique, even for them.
The horn fills were excellent!! Right on pitch (for a dying goose lol) You can see it on Mikes face as to who is this guy I'm about to play with?. Julian looks just too cool for school. Hope he didn't lose something important there. I would call their lp "Fire and Passion". Now, who's fire and who's passion???
I really wish I understood jazz. It intrigues me more than it appeases my ear, although I still appreciate it for a while. Technically, I believe this is beautiful, skilled, and complex, but it's like the sound that these three factors make are not 100% what I find sonically beautiful. But jazz keeps intriguing me.
When I was younger I would react to this video like, "wow look at these two guitar players improv this amazing set together." Now that I'm older and have studied guitar for a long while..I just see the amazing guitar player on the right overplaying the entire time and Julian playing along. Both guitarists have a great sense of feel in the songs but Julian (without even trying) really carries the set and makes it easy to listen to. Very tasteful and aware of what is happening sonically. Next level stuff that is very inspiring and beyond the notes.
Maybe you need to study some more. To say that Moreno is “over playing” is naive at best. Do you not hear the emotion and creativity in his lines? The decades past of the jazz tradition? They are both top notch players. I love Julian Lage, and would even go so far to say he’s likely the most talented jazz guitarist on the planet right now, but I see so many comments like this on every video in which he’s featured. Maybe instead of subtly insulting Lage’s peers you might consider that you simply prefer his unique style.
2:14 - 9:01 = All The Things You Are
10:00 - 17:45 = Body and Soul
18:40 - 26:42 = Out Of Nowhere
11:39 a couple with a table

Ive listened to this several times. These two guys are such kindred spirits they push each other to play better.
It would so nice to have Julian as a guest on Mike Moreno's podcast. 2022
Still amazing after all these years! Ears, open ears!
Two wonderful players, with ears, ears for what the other guy is playing. They melt together. Mike's rt hand is so light, it's mesmerizing.
Thanks to all involved. I am an old greeny that loves to see these young artists playing as one. The sharing of beautiful moments with love. Thank you.
Fantastic! Thanks for posting that. The future of jazz guitar is secure with guys like these around.
It's rare to see two virtuoso guitarist not trying to top each other.Wonderful
common in my experience.. especially among virtuosos - who have nothing to prove

Mike's playing ability is superb. I sometimes wish I can play the piano and listening to these two guys motivates me into wanting to learn
Jeeeeezzzzz! ...Unreal!!! Glad to see Jazz is alive and well!!
Utterly compelling, I've watched this more than once, and I never cease to be amazed.
Pure shit.. Boring nonsense
this is amazing. I have never heard two guitarists follow eachother better than this, they are so free and each moment is full of swing and melody, it's the perfect rendition of this song! (All the things you are in particular)
Amazing playing! Moreno's tone is unreal
They're using the same amp, Mike in channel 1, the fatter channel.
@@cliffirddelbridge2810 cool! But they both have different instruments, fingers, attack and playing styles
This version of All The Things You Are is unbelievable !!!
Great playing swinging from two wonderful guitarists.
Nothing like drinking coffee while watching and listening these 2 playing ,improvising and mocking each other lines
Fking eargasm
huge smile on my face, beautiful.

I think Julian is one of the greatest guitar genius of the 21th century
him & Lage Lund, & Mike Moreno, & probably others
Agreed
why???
Wes,Jim Hall, George Benson, Johnny Smith, Grant Green, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Christan
Dude 21st
Would love to hear an album with these two together.
So great. Thanks for uploading!
Oh MAN do these guys have game. They can boodle around my house anytime. Thanks for the share.
5:26 amazing motivic development and rhythmic displacement!!! Very original!

Isn't the first song all the things you are?
@@NathanLevMusic Hi, yes as it is written in the third comment of the vid since 6 years :)
at the end of the performance they started playing like 1 person. i love both players. who couldn't?
Both Guitarists are amazing.
Julian’s playing from 15:00 on is particularly exquisite.
One of the best guitar duos ever!!
Beautiful playing. It's all about the swing i guess. The swing of the guitar strap.
Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing this!
7:19 the cameraman has an eargasm! hehe We feel you dude!
Yeahhh how he picked up that device and spreaded it througout the changes wtf ...
the future of jazz guitar is here.
Oh man, I love Mike's chord choice while Julian plays the lead. Both are excellent nusicians
this is like a dream come true
Thanks for share this nice moment!
man each solo is so different. Julian's solo on Body and Soul makes me drift away. so awesome
Mike has impeccable pocket, and Julian's great comping puts that to the test.
Great sounds by these guys, Julian & Mike Moreno.
Kinya
Mike killed all the things you are amazing rhythmic ideas and phrases.
when they are tradin' on all the thing tune

julian is a monster!! and he makes it look sooo easy
"Ready? Let's play".
No rehearsal, never played together before. Amazing ears.
Nice playing guys! Nice to hear a talented jazz local Julian!

The best thing in the world...
That line was incredible
beautiful, two masters at work! :)
I would buy the shit out of a duo album with these two. You folks at the workshop were a lucky bunch.
Before this video was another popular video of this that had hundreds of thousands of views, but was sadly removed. So this jam turns out to be their highest watched video.
confortable weather, wonderful guitar sound
Amazing guys
These guys are masters of geek shirts, especially Mike. He also wins with the best geek haircut.
…plaid?
Yes, Mike's hair has caught my attention before. The guy has a crazy cowlick
For the year this was recorded, these shirts were very popular on the Stanford campus. Total geek.
Bravi questi ragazzi , sono moderni e soprattutto conoscono la tradizione della chitarra jazz.
...Faranno strada!
Super fine playing. Heavy hitters both
I hope I can be as good as these guys someday.
Amazing!
I love the passages after 7:08 where it goes a little outside.
Julian dropped something at the beginning of the video!!
thanks for posting this!
Wow! Beautiful playing!
LOVING IT!
I like the guy walking out the door at 8:00 minutes. He walks by like he sees this everyday and it's no big deal.
Kristen, to me, you seem to be missing the big point. These guys sound no less than like themselves, and that is what I look for. And them selves interact with each other like no other people, ever, on the planet. what they create is much like a fingerprint, unique, even for them.
Clifford. ..like no other people on the planet !! Whooo..
Astounding
Around 3:48, the face of Mike when Julian does the legato thing, haha
Haha and Julian's face like a half a second later "Yep, that just happened"
Melted
What legato??
This reminds me so much of the Billy Bean & John Pisano album Makin' It Again. Really nice playing, guys!
mikes tone is sooooo sweet
that performace was great!
A phenomenal duo! These fellers ought to make an album together.
Both guest artists doing some clinic, then they came out to jam a little bit, i guess!
And it's amazing indeed.
That was cool. Thx.
The horn fills were excellent!! Right on pitch (for a dying goose lol)

11:19 which guitar superhero am i love in with? oh sure i'll help move this table until i decide
@kristen name one cat who don't copy
Can Stanford not afford two amplifiers?
great upload!!
Body & Soul
these guys sound like they sit around playing guitar all day...
Graham Saxton I know right! nice stuff..
They do lol
Playing is too vague a word for what they do every day imho.
and Julian Lage is an amazing, masterful accompanist (as well as a monster)
Wow. This is great.
Wonderful
Marvellous.
This is wild.
What's the tune they play after Body and Soul? Starts around 18:42...
I really wish I understood jazz. It intrigues me more than it appeases my ear, although I still appreciate it for a while. wowa last song was amazing.. great solo by lage
WOW ......just WOW
Duo album quick!!
Great!
Nice, real nice guys.
This looks like a cold open, like this is the 1st time they played together.
Muito bom****Brazil///Rio de janeiro ///
11:33 saving this for later
I need to watch this on something other than my phone. Not doing them justice.
great !

Great playing and funny guy in front recording the jam with a very cheap cel phone.
AHHHH! I can't get the sound to play on this; all I get is video. I really wanted to hear this. Maybe it's my browser. Shit!
5:20 5:30 5:45 5:50 4:15 4:32
it's Body and Soul.
