Tom Hanks has THE BEST freakouts!! This is my absolute favorite Tom Hanks movie. Such an underrated horror comedy. The casting is phenomenal. Even Corey feldman understood the assignment.
A real gem this one. And so quotable. It was really fun to see Bruce Derns goofier side. A great actor. What a cast here...amazing. A real childhood favorite.
Good morning J and Blank ❤ Hope you're getting settled in OK Blank ❤ You guys should bring The Money Pit to the channel. Tom Hanks and Shelley Long are SO funny in that movie 😂
Volunteers, too. It's got Tom Hanks and John Candy. Plus, the little Asian guy from 16 Candles. It's funny, but not as many people have seen it for some reason.
The poodle is precious from silence of the lambs, she was also in pee wees big adventure. The actor you said looks like am off brand Doc brown is Bruce Dern and he is the father to Laura Dern who played Ellie Sattler in Jurassic Park and her mother is Dianne ladd who is also a well known actress.
This is the actor who played Rueben's backstory "Gottlieb was born into a Jewish family in Düsseldorf, in the Rhine Province, where his father was a magazine publisher. He attended the University of Cologne. At age 32, under Nazi rule, he was imprisoned at the Dachau concentration camp until he signed over his family's fortune for one Reichsmark. After being deported from Switzerland for chess hustling, he went to Austria where Albert Einstein, a family friend, helped him immigrate to the United States."
Brother Theodore who plays Reuben Klopek was a 70's icon who would exhibit basically the same personality as in this movie while giving fire and brimstone religious sermons. A sort of black comedy thing.
Same, I forgot that opening. I would have done the same thing. I also started laughing when they called Corey a "meatball." Haven't seen that movie in years either.
"He can't come out until he resembles the man that I married." "Carol, We don't have that kind of time." Fun Fact: Dana Olsen, the film's writer, cameos as a cop. Casting Notes Fact: Robert Picardo and Dick Miller both appeared in Matinee (1993), also directed by Joe Dante. Final Bow Fact: Final appearance of Gale Gordon in a motion picture. He would however make a couple credited television appearances in 1991 before passing away in 1995 at age 89. Location Location Fact: The street was shot on the Universal back lot. It has been used for many films and television shows, including Desperate Housewives (2004). Some of the buildings have changed over time, but Walter's (Gale Gordon) house is the only building on the lot that hasn't changed at all. Dog Wangler Fact: Walter's (Gale Gordon) toy poodle Queenie was played by the same dog that played Precious in The Silence Of The Lambs (1991). Michael Jackson's famed chimpanzee, Bubbles, was a frequent guest on the set. He was brought to set, and taken care of, by the animal wrangler that brought and handled the dogs on the set. What Script Facts: The film was shot in sequence and was filmed during the writer's strike of 1988. Although Dana Olsen, the writer, appeared in the film, he was prohibited from contributing anything to the script while on set. For this reason, Joe Dante encouraged the actors to improvise many scenes. One example was the moment when Rumsfield rips the Klopeks' wallpaper, an idea from Bruce Dern. Rick Ducommun ad-libbed many of his lines, including the "Satan is good, Satan is our pal" dialogue. Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher came up with the idea of playing along with Jeopardy! (1984) at home. Tom Hanks improvised the scene where he picks up the gurney and puts himself into the ambulance.
I love how unhinged the Tom Hanks movies of the 1980s were. Every single one has a plot synopsis that sounds like somebody was throwing darts at a board and picking words from a list.
Tom... plays d&d... and goes crazy... at the twin towers 🤔 Yeah, I see what you mean. They're often just Tom going crazy for a random reason in a random setting 😅
Bless your heart ♥ I'm sick too so I feel your pain darlin😮I hope you feel better soon ❤❤I'm 45 and in line for a lung transplant and your videos help me more than you know ❤❤❤
can't believe you hadn't seen this. I'm your age and this is my favorite turn-your-brain-off comedy of all time. Watch it again, you'll start quoting it more and more
Joe Dante did a a lot of great movies (beside the Burbs). Gremlins 1 and 2. Piranha, The Howling, Innerspace, Matinee, and Explorers.. all cult classics.
I fell asleep watching TV as a kid, when I woke up I saw the last 5 minutes of this on HBO. I never saw it on there again somehow. Had nearly forgotten all about it until I stumbled across it playing free on TH-cam 30 years later. It wasn't a fever dream. Lol
One of my favorite lines from any movie: "I've never seen that. I've never seen somebody drive their garbage down to the street and beat the hell out of it with a stick. I've never seen that." LOL
I wonder what happened to Rick Ducommun. He was in everything at one point, from doing standup to appearing in movies like Die Hard and The Hunt for Red October. Then, he just disappeared.
@@tbmkris Yeah, about ten years ago. But I can't find anything about what happened to him in the roughly 11 years between his last role and when he died.
One of my top favorite comedies of all-time; been hoping to catch this one live for about two years but can't make sense out of the upload schedule these days. One of the best things about this movie is the director let Hanks ad lib alot of stuff and ended up keeping almost all of it.
I LOVE the early in the day drops! I really like to watch these on the treadmill and I do that in the morning so it’s crazy hard to wait until the next day to watch a lot of these! I’m actually heading in early now because I need to watch this!! Thanks for all the hard work and hope you’re settling in Blank!
Thank u so much for this reaction! My three favorite moments: "Why am I so invested?!" "Look at him. You know his uncles his brother". "That's a man?! I thought it was an ugly woman". 🤣😆😂
It’s weird finding out how many people don’t/didn’t know about it (though a lot do), because it seems like pretty much anyone who watches it ends up loving it. Sometimes “hidden gems” are actually sitting out in plain sight, but people just aren’t looking, I guess.
This was one of my favorite movies (along with "Big Trouble In Little China") growing up. I had them both recorded on VHS and would watch them all the time. Great comedy! 👍
Can't wait to see this! I've been waiting on you to watch The Burbs for so long! It's been on so many polls but never won so very excited to see this!!!! :)
Omgsh ive bee WAITING for someone to react to this. Back when Tom Hanks only did comedies and Corey Feldman playing a bad a** as usual😄. When I first saw this it came on cable way back in 1990. A gem. THANK YOU!
The tall older white man that helps close the ambulance door is Ron Howard's dad. For Seinfeld fans, he was also the blind old man that George traded his ladies glasses with
I LOVE this movie! One of my favorites. May I suggest a few more 'before Big' Tom Hanks greats: * Splash (1984) Darryl Hannah, John Candy * Bachelor Party (1984) Adrian Zmed, Tawny Kitaen * The Man With One Red Shoe (1985) * Volunteers (1985) John Candy, Rita Wilson * The Money Pit (1986) Shelly Long * Dragnet (1987) Dan Aykroyd
I said it on the post about this movie. You HAVE to watch "The Money Pit" Tom Hanks loses his mind the entire movie. It's so underrated. I would say I'd better than this movie honestly. Thanks for the content guys!
Hi J, get well soon. Where I grew up in the 80s, our street had a reputation that scared people from ever wanting live here, and the block had it's own reputation to the song Neighbourhood by Space and at the bottom end of the street again had a reputation for it's own reasons so if anyone moved into the street they moved away within a week all because of rumours, even though the neighbourhood wasn't as bad as it was made to sound it was enough to let people go out without locking the doors, although the flats definitely lived upto it's reputation the police could have practically set up a station there as they was always there
So stoked to see your reaction to this, I’ve been waiting for you to watch this one. I have to ask though, how is it you of all people have not yet reacted to Turner & Hooch?

This is honestly one of the most underrated 80's comedies! "BOUT A 5 ON THE TENSION SCALE THERE, RUBE"
The crazy military neighbor is Bruce Dern. His daughter, Laura, was in Jurassic Park as Ellie and The Last Jedi as Holdo.
