    Closed cell spray foam for me. Waterproof, no potential tape gap problems. No foam board surfing. Gravel must be compacted level, then a FAN nozzle for the foam application. Wire on top after cure, not embedded. Heat tubes also if desired. You can get a board like level surface for the concrete to pour on, but you gotta start with the dirt!

    If I had a recommendation I would always recommend spray foam under slabs.
    Superior to sheet xps, no joins or cut outs around pipes, and it’s a vapour barrier.
    If the slab is structural their needs to min concrete thickness as per engineer specs.
    You smashed it out, as always, nice job.
    Cheers from Oz

    I know its been used for some time now but Im still skeptical about using the 2 inch rigid insulation as well. I mean you have to get the base material completely flat for that foam to not have any issues with compression and then possibly having cracking issues cause of that.

    As someone who owns a spray foam business… you can’t make the foam even if you’re spraying over an uneven surface but with that being said wouldn’t you want the foam to follow the contour of the ground instead of leaving empty voids under the concrete?? Seems like foam boards would leave voids where it could settle and be more likely to crack.

    How do you decide what screeding pattern you’re going to do? This one has me a bit confused. You blew out the first truck and then screeded about 5 feet off the wall the whole way down before really getting into the meat of it. Why would you do that instead of blowing the truck out, and not doing that 5 ft screed off the wall, rather just use your wet pads and make longer rips

    • @kadmow
      @kadmow ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theradonpros - (you don't seem to have gotten an answer) yes one can shave closed cell sprayfoam, as all the foam buildup is closed cell, there isn't a single "membrane" as with most other membrane types.
      Probably good to spray the foam on top of a plastic membrane to start with to eliminate problems in the event it cracks - No Idea if this is ""a thing" - also puts rodent/insect attack one layer further away.

    You're complaining about SPF being uneven, but if you use rigid board all that "unevenness" would be empty space under the slab and as soon as the walls go up all your pretty new concrete is going to end up looking like a spider web of cracks because of those voids. Spray foam fills everything perfectly its far superior to rigid board in literally every way. How is that not obvious?
