    The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport is a badass looking spacious car perfect for economical everyday driving, but although it has the sporty look it is REALLY lacking the sound that one would imagine should come out of that large center exit exhaust in the rear. Lazy Boi WRX? The concept was beautiful but the production model is nothing like it. It's been hit with the ugly stick. You can't honestly say it looks better than the Type R.

    • @GTRGTR32
      @GTRGTR32 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Francis Fung I have no problem saying the WRX is better looking. In my opinion I hate hatchbacks and the those three exhaust. The front of the type r look beautiful but the rear is just hideous.

      @GTRGTR32 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Francis Fung although I will say I recently went to look at a new si just because I was curious about them. I have no intentions in buying an si. I saw it in a lime green 2 dr model, I will say they look better in person than on video.

    The content of your review is well thought out, like a well written essay. Your topic transitions are smooth and you stay on subject. Haha sorry I'm sounding like an AP English teacher.
    On a side note, the straight piped Civic sounds like my stock '07 Civic Si

    I own one. I love it 200%. Silent is sneaky. Fun to drive. Stay responsible automobile owners, especially the careless and young drivers.
    This is not a fast car but it's definitely not slow either.

      Yeah I agree, the only problem is the speed but other then that Its a great looking car and the acceleration isnt that bad. I am probably going to buy one end this year or wait for the 2018 model

    I really like this car and the only reason I would get the sport over the si is cause well the si is ugly as a coupe and doesn't come In a hatch back so the sport is the next option and it only has like 10hp less then the si anyways I just like that it's a 4 door and definitely like the manual
    I currently have a 1998 Honda Civic ej8 coupe and that's slowly becoming way too race car so I'm gonna need a new daily and this is a really good option

    I don't know much about cars but I'm not so sure that tunes are a good idea for the average person. tunes will void the warranty and I'm gonna bet that other upgrades would be necessary to accommodate the increase in power...did you work for this car? lol

    • @shouldigetit
      @shouldigetit  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Other upgrades would not be necessary for more power, I am aware of this as I have a tune on my F56 Mini Cooper S.
      My video is to show my thoughts of the car and what I would do personally, recommendations for like minded enthusiasts if you will. It's a great car already without the tunes, for the average person.
      What is meant by the question, did I work for the car? The car is not mine.

    Just bought a 2018 Sport Hatchback. The "Polished Metal" color is absolutely amazing and the car looks better in person than it does in the photos. The turbo is very smooth. Overall the car is very good. The only real problems that I can live with are there is no option for a Moon Roof on the Sport. And the button e-brake sucks and it's indicator light is tucked away at the bottom right corner. It's hard to see.

    I ordered one of these in January, it arrived mid April. It would have been way less time if I wasn't holding out for MT and Aegean Blue
    After the break in period, even with spirited driving, Its hard to get under 30 MPG and very easy to hit over the claimed 39mpg-hwy.
    Only complaints are the Electric Ebrake and the fabric on the armrests, its just garbage.

    Grow up Gertrude. Make Vroom, Vroom sounds with your mouth if it bothers you. Nothing's more ridiculous that hearing race car sounds coming out of a 4 cylinder put put. I must say Honda has made some strange choices when it comes to packaging. You should be able to mix and match from the parts bin as your wallet allows. I hate it when companies shoe horn unwanted options like Ford with those ridiculous recaro seats. It's almost a deal breaker. I'm holding out for the si hatch (I know, I know but someday).

    I agree with most of what he said. I just got the LX.
    2 things that are incorrect:
    1) Heated seats, I have the LX and it has heated seats.
    2) The arm rest in the back. The middle seat does come down to make and arm rest and has 2 cup holders.
    Super sick car and great for the price point. Nothing else is going to beat this car and it's relative category.

    Yeah put a tune and an aftermarket exhaust on a brand new car and void the warranty so you have to pay 10,000 dollars to have a new engine put in, when said tune, blows a piston through the hood. Don't listen to boy racer here, if you by a new car drive it in stock form at least until the warranty is up.

    I got the Civic Sport Touring, I like it, like you said wish it was louder. Underrated handling though and definitely can go. The headrests are a bit too firm for a touring car IMO and you feel too much road and hear too much of it for a touring car I will say. However other than that I really like it. I think more young people like the styling than older folks as well. I love it as well but I'm 29, I've read tons of stuff about how the thing is butt ugly. To each their own lol.

      I personally went with the Civic because of the feel and stance of the interior. You can actually see some of the hood. It gives a feeling of depth. I like the gauges better on the Civic. The Civic has an option for a two tone interior. Plus it's a Honda! The only thing I didn't like was the Sport didn't have an option for a Moon Roof. I'm not sure about the Elanta. The Elantra has two things over the Civic. Slightly more power, and the exhaust sounds really good.

      Should I Get It it’s because of smth called COE. Like a cert to own a car, every month it’s a different price based on supply and number of bids. on average now it’s about 30-40k on top of your car price. And the cert expires in 10years, u need to renew and buy a new cert if u want to continue owning and driving your car.. so yea..

    I owned one; although it was a decent car, I have a few major dislikes about it:
    1) Really, really terrible seats. I don't even have a bad back and this was the first car to really be uncomfortable in the lumbar.
    2) Really, REALLY shitty tech overall. The bluetooth crapped out half the time (I really wish I was over exaggerating, freezing the entire screen. The only way to reset the screen was to turn off the car, then turn it back on. Honda tried to "fix" it, but it looks like a glitch from the default system.
    3) Not a sporty car whatsoever. The manual is slightly better, but I would compare it to a much slower, less torque-y version of a BRZ (if even that).

    The sport hatch is a nice looking car but there's so many issues I've read about fit and finish, electronics/warning lights, uncomfortable front seats, it's hard to consider purchase until Honda fixes all these problems. The CivicX forum is ripe with dozens and dozens of complaints ranging from bad paint jobs to creaks to leaky trunks. CR won't recommend the Civic but they really haven't gone in depth about why except to say it's been very unreliable. 2 of the 3 Civic Sport YT'ers I've followed have had frustrating problems in their first few months of ownership. It seems that at their factory in England they have a mad buffer going up and down the assembly line scratching and over smudging up the paint jobs. Honda needs to fire a bunch of folks in Swindon.
    This Civic is a fairly radical design from the previous generation. I like the style and colors but I don't like the very low riding seats and the multitude of problems that are being reported. Maybe the lowest LX trimline has the fewest of issues because it has the lowest tech?
    Bottom Line: This Civic is a nice looking car that needs a lot of fix actions by Honda before it truly can be a recommended buy.

      Eric Haynes Had mine for three months and no issues 👌 Maybe the plastics are kinda scratch prone, either than that. It's very good!

    • @erichaynes7502
      @erichaynes7502 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's great news Tommy. I'm just wondering if you've taken the chance to really go over the paint job to check for over sanded areas, check the gaps between the trunk lid, and also check for paint overspray/errors inside the trunk/door jams etc. I'm just curious if every car has a bunch of these issues as it seems. I read one new civic owners comment that he was amazed by all the paint chips all the way down to the bare metal after owning the car just 2 months. He was very upset by the trunk lid and overspray as well. Hopefully your car doesn't have any of these unnecessary issues..my impression is the folks at Swindon, England are erratic with their quality control.

      Eric Haynes I've bought the Aegean Blue Honda Civic Hatchback EX. The CVT with Honda Lane keep and Android/ apple car play. My friend detailed the car, there was a little "orange peel" from factory. kinda like a blotchy look. so he removed that using a denim pad. Then compound, polish then Teflon sealed it. the gaps are okay. the interior trunk handle broke off, which I've reattached myself. Either than that, nothing out of the ordinary. Ride quality is very good, goes over potholes like butter as opposed to my Audi.

    • @erichaynes7502
      @erichaynes7502 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Tommy, I'm glad your enjoying your civic..the blue hatchback really looks great. I suspect there's a few hung over Brits that go up and down the factory line buffing these Civics to no end. If I was Honda management a lot of them would be getting fired. I remember my first red 88 Honda Accord it didn't have a single flaw..now, 30 years later every civic hatch comes off the line with paint problems.

    • @erichaynes7502
      @erichaynes7502 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do agree with you somewhat but in this case there are a lot of posts with pictures of misaligned fenders and bad/flaky/overspray paint jobs. Overall, I really do like the sport hatch but I simply cannot pull the trigger until I get more confidence that Honda fixing some of these problems.
