Great details explained. I have similar project with my 65 El Camino. I had to replace the lower channel and do some body work as well.

Great job on the glass. You hit the nail on the head about driving older cars as a daily driver. You have to be willing and able to fix things yourself. There are very few places left that will work on them or even know how to fix them.

Absolutely agree, these cars are made to be driven. A lot of people don't realize that low mileage isn't such a great thing at all.

Yes, a high quality urethane paint either single stage or base coat Clear is required for the primer and urethane adhesive to stick to.
The hood come out of a box with high density foam. That would work to locate the glass at the bottom, if it has bumpers installed to help with the glass location.
Expect rust on the pinch weld. Fixing by welding, grinding smooth is fine. The problem comes in making it water proof. Fill with “Dyna-glass” fiberglass filler. This is the only way to seal the area of pin holes. Sand as needed, use a seam sealer after cleaning rust. Paint or prime with epoxy as needed. I don’t care for Eastwood, but they sell a can with 2K activator inside to create a smooth hard surface.
All aftermarket parts are junk. The clips purchased will need fixing before they will work, regardless of how much they overcharge you for them.
Factory glass, installer always left a thin layer behind as it seals better without creating extra thickness. They used the end bay next to me at the dealer for decades. I know. Ask them. They won’t help you on the phone, but go their 15 minutes before closing time. You will be surprised at what a 12 pack of iced beer can get you at home. Offer $20 cash.
Same with rear glass. Repeat steps 2 thru 5. You will get results.
You got more guts than most, difference is, I saw the glass guy use caulking gun instead of high dollar rig. Remember, telephones where made out of oak wood for decades before plastic hand held battery powered cellular communications devices where invented. Don’t over think this.
    Nice suction cups!
Reminds me the dealerships owners girlfriend. She was a tall Italian girl and at least to me, had no problem placing her shoulders close together while leaning in front of me. I almost has a wardrobe malfunction, twice.

I would have thought urethane would stick to glass, no primer needed. Actually I would have guessed urethane would stick better than any paint. Thanks for the video

Do you have agreed value full coverage on your daily? If so, Grundy or Hagerty? I'm trying to decide.

No full coverage on the el Camino. The Firebird has a stated value policy through Safeco because there are no limitations on when or where it is driven or parked.
