  • Alex Hargreaves and Jacob Jolliff are household names in the Oregon bluegrass community. To the rest of the world, they are members of two different and separate bands. Alex plays fiddle with Sarah Jarosz and Jacob plays mandolin with Joy Kills Sorrow. But at Christmas time and or when ever there is an opportunity for them to find an audience, they play as a duo. They are music wise beyond their age playing as old souls, these two young men tear it up on stage. Recorded live December 13, 2012.. The lighting is not so good because it was in a front room of a home and the audio was just from the Panasonic Camera mic.

This video is further proof that the present, as well as future, of the mandolin and fiddle are in excellent hands with these two young lions! What a pleasure and honor to know them both. Thanks Ken for posting. Glad you were there to catch the magic.

So pleased to find this. I only know Alex through watching Sarah Jarosz. These two are quite special.... learning quite a bit from this. Thanks for putting this out on the net.

@ 11:16 Midnight on the Water written by Luke Thomasson, Benny Thomasson's dad. Its a tune written off of "I Ride an Old Paint", a famous cowboy song.

Thanks Joe. I'm glad you were able to see this house concert. I've known these young men for years, watch them grow up and grow musically.. I'm still in awe at their growth.
