      Do some job shadowing, for at least a month. I studied LLB, really did not enjoy it in practice, so changed careers. It helped me a lot in my new job, so I'm glad I did it, but you should really job shadow.

      @@calmingbabysleep1256matric mainly but experience helps. For financial advice positions they require RE but I know OUTsurance hires without it and pays for you to do your RE within two years

    We push for admission and not to be retained after articles. LLB is very broad and I agree that this video does not reflect the earning potential of the legal field in its entirety.

      Because that's the only pasylips I received. It does not reflect the entire Law field, I stated this in the beginning of the video like all my other videos, they don't represent the entire industry.

    I really thought they earn more than software developers on average. It seems its only the upper end of the spectrum of lawyers that earn big money. It's still great money, I just expected a tiny bit more.

      SA salaries are the highest in SADC region. 33k is even high when compared to Zambia or Malawi. There is serious labor exploitation across countries.

    I've seen candidates earning as less as R2000 😮😮 Its good that the LPC wants to benchmark it to at least R8500 pm.

    It's interesting to see that total deductions in terms of taxes and medical aid in the first case is also the percentage amount people would pay in many European countries but then old age care is included as well. So it seems to come down to around 40% of the salary being used to be properly preapred for the future.

    I think candidates attorney should has a basic salary of 15000 rand here in south Africa, people who dont deserve more money are the typists and secretary caused they normal make more mistake when it comes to filling the files of the clients, so the candidates attorney or a lawyer needs to find they mistakes

      If any company employs people of the correct level of education .. there should not be errors in alphabet and spelling in the filing system. I.e. they and their are totally different.

    Please please please interview the people who loved to Asia to teach ❤. I graduated with an LLB, started applying for articles in my second year up until last year (2023) and now I’m thinking of going to Asia to teach. Looks like a blessing in disguise that I didn’t get a job because Yoh 💔😳 these salaries are so disappointing

    I can't wait for AI to clean up the law and legal profession. I'm yet to meet a lawyer or attorney who is truly moral and ethical. LLMs can already do most of a lawyers and administrators' work better and thousands of times faster than a human equivalent.

      @@liferesetwithboni Hi Boni. I would actually recommend that people who do law should consider either 1. owning your own law firm or being in compliance. I am a Legal Policy Analyst and not even been admitted yet as an attorney. From Law School, to a Legal Policy space, and the market-related salary is about R600 k per year. You need to be creative when it comes to the Legal Space.

      It depends on the firm. If you are luck enough to get to one of the big law firms, they do pay. I know someone doing their first year of articles/ candidate attorney this year. The offer was 485k per year. That’s a lot of money for someone who has just started and still in training. The problem is the small firms that are struggling themselves. People end up getting into them because of the competition in those big firms. So I don’t agree that the profession itself doesn’t pay.
