      Hi! University of Michigan does not offer this program, but Wayne State University does. It's a great program. Please check out our blogs for some advice that can help you get into these programs: bemoacademicconsulting.com/blog/bs-md-programs and bemoacademicconsulting.com/blog/from-high-school-to-med-school

      @@BeMoAcademicConsulting Thank you so much! I looked through the blogs and they were very helpful. However, I could not find lots of things that I could do as a 15 year old high schooler. So I was wondering if there are are any online research programs that I could do? Thanks!

      Hi Bhuvi,
      A good place to start is to look at if your high school, or local area (city or provincial/state government) has options for high school students interested in STEM.
      These programs usually have high school research experiences for students in their summer breaks to get them interested in science. Due to the pandemic, most research positions have moved online for this summer. You can also try searching for some of these opportunities online by typing: "high school science research", "high school STEM research" "[Local Area Name/University] high school research". Finally, you could also try reaching out to your network (family/friends) and see if there are any professors who you can volunteer with. Hope that helps and good luck!

    Hi, I found your video very helpful. Thank you for your clarifications.
    I do have some questions regarding the application process, if you could answer the questions below, it would be great.
    -Do schools choose certain people to apply to BS/MD programs, or can you just apply on your own?
    -So the only things you need to focus on are SAT/ACT, grades/GPA, extracurricular activities, (a good interview, essay and recommendation letters,) and maybe some SAT subject tests and volunteering at hospitals and medical related clubs?

    • @BeMoAcademicConsulting
      @BeMoAcademicConsulting  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is highly recommended that you are in the top 5% of you class. Successful BS/MD students are those with GPAs close to 4.0, with top percentile scores in the SAT or ACT.

    Is a bs/do program easier to get into than a bs/md

    • @BeMoAcademicConsulting
      @BeMoAcademicConsulting  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Amin, thanks for your comment. This totally depends on the school to which you're applying. It's best to have a look at specific program acceptance rates to find out the overall success rate, average accepted MCAT and average accepted GPA to determine which program is best suited for you based on your own stats. In addition, DO and MD programs are quite different in their philosophy. Have a look at our DO vs MD blog if you want to learn more about the differences and similarities between the two programs: bemoacademicconsulting.com/blog/do-versus-md

    Hi, I have a question. I am a sophomore at my school, but my school does not have a ranking for students. Does this affect my acceptance to a BSMD program? I take a lot of AP's, Honors, wrestle, and volunteer and shadow.

    • @BeMoAcademicConsulting
      @BeMoAcademicConsulting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Karan! Thanks so much for your question. If your school does not rank students, it should not affect you negatively. As long as you can get references and complete all the other requirements, you should be an eligible candidate.

    Are BS/MD programs the same as accelerated medical programs? If not, what is the difference between the two? Thank you so much for your video!

    • @BeMoAcademicConsulting
      @BeMoAcademicConsulting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Arya! There are some BS/MD programs that have accelerated curriculum, but not all of them do. BS/MDs allow students to complete their baccalaureate degree and proceed directly into medical school to obtain their MD. In some cases, the undergraduate degree and medical degree will be obtained from the same university, while in other cases, each degree will be completed at a separate partnered institution. Depending on the program, students can obtain both a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts, along with an MD in 7-8 years. Seven-year programs are accelerated versions of the eight-year program, allowing students to complete their undergrad degree in only 3 years. While rare, a handful of schools offer BS/MD programs that take only 6 years to complete.
