@SA With one touch the opponent just bombs past my defenders and my defenders just stand there like headless chickens, you can set them up to be organised and compact aswell and they all just do their own thing leaving mountains of space with no positional awareness whatsoever
@SA could not agree more, they always do this on fifa. The game was perfect for defending and now it's back to the ice skating bullshit defending. I keep jockeying and manually defending my ass off and my opponent is constantly getting Ai assisted interceptions non stop
Love how almost everytime he made a great interception/tackle, the ball just magically rebound back to the opponent..... that's really the main problem with fifa

Especially when playing against the CPU. Soon as they get rebound, they smash the ball very hard and accurately, and instantly score. Lool
@@MrBadhan95 ive been trying to play on Ultimate. fifa and their ''difficulty'' increase is just bullshit. they shoot at the keeper and ''accidentally'' he headed it in its own goal. or you challenge them they just stand without even flinching while your character falls and trips on nothing.
@@ShacolateClown The rebound mechanic is ridiculously stupid. They shoot exactly where the keeper is going to deflect the ball to and then they score. This happens a lot in Volta as well.
@@MrBadhan95 for me it feels scripted. Ive started playing again today. Was in CL finale and was 3 to 0. 20 minutes were left. They shoot outside the box and hit the pole. Coincidentally giving the opponent time to run in and score. So i was okay unlucky but still nice goal. And not even 5 minutes later the exact same thing happens. Also headers are predictable i noticed. If your defender or any other member suddenly moves away or is "searching" he is creating space for the opponent. I thought it was just a bug or something ( its difficult to explain but if it happens you know exactly what in talking about )
This tutorial really helps. I just lost 0-4 to Man City. Better than 0-5 though

It's impossible to not concede goals in FIFA but these tips are useful tho.
Defending is impossible. Unselected players jog back and just watch players run past them. Pressing circle is a gamble between stand tackle and catching them. Speed is overpowered, you'd rather have Mbappe in defense than someone slow. The AI's positioning is a liability. You can win the ball perfectly with a slide tackle and still concede a penalty. So much advertising, so little implementation. More or less Fifa 20 with sliders. The same game for the 10th year running
Happened to me too, amazing slidetackle to stop the run , ball bounced off the sliding defenders stomach and then the striker fell over him and somehow it was a penalty AND red card
In the previous versions of Fifa prior to 2020 everything seemed to have made more sense. I never conceded more than 2 or 3 goals but 22 is just ridiculous as every ball seems to go easily behind the defenders. Against the likes of Salah, you have no chance stopping them!

Your right, I just swapped 95 Ruben Dias for 89 salah and I didn’t concede once. Honestly this is true, sacrificing chemistry for wins is a fine trade for me

Useful guide for me:
Stop through balls
- Scan pitch for dangerous runs
- Use right stick switch to select nearest defender
- Try to stay ahead of attacker
- Only when run is no longer a threat, can you apply pressure
Cut passing lanes
- When close to your box
- Hold LT for better reach
- Anticipate opponent's next pass
- Right stick switch to nearest player to block it
- Try to stay close to ball holder as well as long shots are very dangerous too
One vs one defending
- Sprint at ball holder
- Then switch to jockey and move backwards slightly to prevent ball holder passing you
- If opponent takes heavy touch, don't move back, but forwards and get the ball
- Use standing tackle for extra reach on challenge and to block shots
- Use sliding tackle for more extra reach on challenge or pass intercepts
Second man press
- Use second man to apply pressure and then manually cut passing lanes
- Use constantly around box
- Be careful not to use a man for press, and so leave a man unmarked
Goalkeepers
- Bring keepers out by holding Y (helpful on dangerous through balls)
- Use pressed right stick to move keeper to block crosses and to save shots (eg. if opponent only shoots far post, move keeper far post before their shot)

Bruh my teammates are killing me. Got to play around with techniques and maybe increase defense marking of my cpu teammates. It’s so bad though
And the keepers save nothing, at least in online friendlies on PC- good defens doesn't matter if you can shoot from everywhere
@@powerviolentnightmare5026 tied a game 4-4 today. I had 15 shots 9 on target with an xg around 5. My opponents kept hitting shots from 25-30 over lloris and he had 5 shots with an xg of 1.1 lol. There’s no way to mark runners and cover good players who can do skills. If I play the man he finds a runner if I play the runner he scored from long. I wish r1 support actually worked. Half the time it grabs a guy whose no where close to the ball.
@@tyfighter_17 brother i have the same problem. Can someone explain to me why the fu*k during teammate contain 99% OF THE TIME IT CHOOSES PLAYERS THAT ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE BALL!!!??? How do i fix it? Also the teammate contain health bar is annoying asf
This might be a decent tip: if you find yourself switching to the wrong player a lot press in the right stick and icons on top of the player show which way you have to move your right stick to switch to that player it takes a tiny bit longer but is helpful
I tried everything and have given up as a whole. I literally have proof in every game that the switching is not working as it should. If i have 2 centerbacks and i move from the closes midfielder to the centerback with right stick switch, it somehow skips him and goes to the other centerback. Almost every time.
@@aries666dc same thing happening to me. Never complained about player switching in any fifa's until now but post-patch switching has been disgraceful. Something is definitely wrong with it. I didnt have a problem pre-patch
That happened to me, till I change my camera to co op, and it feels so much better now.

I think that the biggest difference from 21 is that positioning your defenders well will greatly increase your chances of intercepting passes. The buff 2nd man pressing has got is also great
Yes..... use the 2nd man press (R1), and the jockey (L2) and as you said position your defenders well and you are sorted in defense.

I owe you a huge thanks for this video. I was pulling my hair out trying to defend on this game one of your subscribers told me about your channel when I asked for advice and my results & performances have improved I actually feel like I'm no longer punching above my weight. I'm still making mistakes but a lot lot less and I'm actually enjoying games more now even games I lose its a good even game and I'm not getting stomped all over and feeling like I have to work my hardest to get a goal and my opponent had to make just a few simple passes to get through my defence. I've actually enjoyed my fifa today
Dude, I'm a top tier player (was on the top 0.1% worldwide back in 2013-2015 when I had time to play endless online games) and just got FIFA 22 on sale... defending against real players is very tactical and awesome... defending against the AI on career mode? Holy fuck it's bad... my midfielders literally never run back on defense, my center backs leave huge holes to be exploited because they follow every dumb run of the AI and leave the center of the defense free, I'm trying to control 2 defenders at all times just to stay afloat (with L2 and R1 at the same time, trying to switch to the right player AND have the right secondary defender at all times), the AI literally makes passes so fast and so accurately that you have no time to close up manually and your GK is pretty much your MVP every game...
Defending on FIFA 22 is a nightmare... cause I like to play career mode and trust me, I'm a much much better player than 99% of the players you meet online... if I'm having games that I conceded SIX goals to the Legendary AI then the game is damn near unplayable... and at the same time you can't play on World Class cause scoring is easy af in this game and you'll end up scoring 3 million goals per game... I can't remember my last clean sheet ffs...
Anyway... they need to improve the defensive AI of this game... the team needs to be defending as a team... right now the rest of the players that I'm not controlling are standing around like fucking zombies and I'm pulling my hair out every game... it's retardedly stupid...

Anyway, it is what it is... until another actually good football sim game comes up we're stuck with FIFA cancer... at least FIFA 22 is way better than FIFA 19, 20 and 21... which is not saying much of course since they were total trash and didn't even buy them

Nice vid. Surprised that I'm watching it considering I played fifa for over 12 years now on different platforms and buying each update. Got the game at launch, and I play world class but I still conceded in every match. Maybe I'm not focused enough but use a 85 squad with 100 Chem in squad battles.
When I played Fifa 19 I used to use the x button L2 and the R2 to get a block dead easy but now quite hard work

On the back I use Chiellini, Inform Bastoni and Maguire. And I keep spamming the B button and it makes it very difficult for my opponent to run through my defense. I highly recommend using these 3 players on the back with formation 3-5-2 if you want a solid defense.

In Fifa 21 ny defence skills were very good i never conceed more than 3 goals max, but this year i can't even cut passes.
i appreciate the tips but this is exactly what i do and it still feels impossible to defend.. i’m right stick switching, pressing L1 etc.. i can read where my opponents going but the AI leaves immense gaps and react extremely slow it’s frustrating
same, and sometimes when i send a player with R1, he goes behind the opponent and not straight to him

@@KevRMA2000 i’ve learned that when you’re doing well and winning game after game, fifa will handicap your players and/or boost your opponents players to make the game even for everyone. i stopped playing seriously years ago
@@acm1pt102 Its just BS. Opponents scoring after 1 chance and you need to create 6 or 7 and still the keeper saves everything. Its so scripted indeed…

I never played FIFA and I think I will quit again. Defending is just impossible and boring. My players (ai and controlled as well) just run away when they see the enemy coming. When the enemy got the ball that is almost a certain goal. My players are as agile as a battleship, while the enemy's are faster than light and can outmanuver anything.
@@Seff2 i have had this issue too while defending..selected players just keep moving in the opposite direction and keep spreading rather than charging. Good luck

I position defenders in front of opposition attackers and they just go past my defense easy, some how though their attackers are easily able to tackle and out muscle my defenders and score against me. Pls can you be more specific about challenges and physicaly winning the ball?

I’ve been playing fifa recently and scoring goals is fine but the mid field and defence are non existent.
Like no movement and just space for days and there no way for me to do anything I have my mid field and full backs on defensive yet they are still out of position and not tracking back.
This is the thing. How do you make that midfield track back to defend? 🤷♂️

I thought im the only one with this problem, but it never happens to my opponents so what is this shit its like they have a magnet or something!😭
So what I just did was toggle the PASS BLOCK ASSISTANCE off in controller settings and my defense stopped doing dumb unnecessary tackles. What was happening was basically the opponent would hold the ball until my defender would go for the assisted block and mess up and leave me wide open.

All my opponents do is spam the same 2 skill moves and since they have a team 10x the value of mine it just works

Hey Boras Legend, in FIFA 22 if I loss possession can I rely on the AI defenders.
Normally on legendary I would win a lot but I don’t so I dropped the level to world class and it’s still hard normally I would thrash the opponent on world class but I’m struggling
Me2 men me2. But it's fun. And at world class they move more realistic with OS sliders.
So .. How do you tackle? On os 4. Which bottom do you touch?
