Joss Whedon was lazy and abusive and wrote horrible dialogue, but a lot of the problems with the 2017 cut are the fault of WB and Geoff Johns. They wanted a 2-hour cut, which was next to impossible to do, and then they insisted on meeting the release date so that they could get their bonus checks before the merger. The homeless guy's sign that said "I tried" was Whedon basically saying that there wasn't much he could do with the time and restrictions they gave him. Is Whedon accountable? ABSOLUTELY. He made some really bad creative choices, and he deserves what comes to him after his treatment of the cast and crew. But WB suits and Geoff Johns deserve most of the blame for that cut of Justice League.

Bro I thought I was the only one thinking the same thing! As a Marvel fan, I feel like he was a agent to sabotage any leverage DC can muster, because I'm starting to get Thanos vibes from this movie. Just my opinion
Yeah that makes 100 percent sense. I'm sure he took a hit to his career, got himself involved in an investigation against ray fisher, and lost the chance to make the batgirl movie he wanted to make. Which according to whedon was the only real reason he signed up to make the JL reshoots.... All of that just so he can troll DC. Yep, makes sense

He didn't intentionally sabotage the DCEU but I guess when he was tasked to do the impossible by WB he just took the opportunity to make the quick cash.
Any other director would have failed because they had no attachment to the vision of the DCEU that Synder established.

After seeing the interview on Snyder about the Martha scene in BvS. I came to understand it more in depth that it wasn't just about both of them having a mother named Martha. But it is more Batman reflects thats his becoming like his parent's killer while Superman reflects Bruce when he was young at the mercy of the killer powerless. Just wishing his parents should be saved by somebody.
That's obvious though because it cuts to his memory of his dad calling out his mom's name when they're shot so that reason has never made sense to me, what I do get with the criticism though is that that's the reason why the fight ends due to all the build up
It amazes me people needed that explained bc thats kinda the whole arc bats went through for the whole movie. Idk maybe weve just gotten so lazy as an audience we need marvel level spoon fed simplicity

I have watched the film so many times and understood the Martha scene, but never thought about also Batman wanting someone to save his mother, and then Supes is basically having the same wish, then Batman makes sure she does not die

I was watching it this morning just going what the hell did joss to this footage 😂🤣 like you would actually try to fuck it up that bad... That said Im sure Warner saw this cut and got scared of how dark it was and told joss to make the movie more like mcu

Snyder said Sucker Punch doesn't have it's real version released to the public either, which I find very interesting. In general, there's loads of other potentially great ones, like Event Horrizon or the original DUNE. Even films like Batman Forever and TASM 2 were massively basterdised by the studios.

People are not required to like a movie just because you or I did. I'm sure there are plenty of people who honestly don't like Snyder's style or approach to the characters. It's not like we haven't heard complains about Man of Steel and BvS for years; hearing more should be no surprise...it's not like those people all stopped existing.
You guys been supporters for zack snyder and his films for a long time and seeing you guys get to watch this early and so happy of how it is, make me happy as well. I hope one day you guys will get your chance to interview zack snyder. I would love to see that. Great review.

I can't believe just how much better this film was than the original. Cyborg and Flash killed it. Those two saved the world in this cut. And the whole film and plot actually made sense. Superman coming back angry made sense because we understood what the motherbox was. Just so much improvement from top to bottom.
The jokes flowed so well, not forced the jokes were built up
I worked till 4pm and started the movie at 430. By 835 I was picking up my jaw from the floor and praying to the old and new gods that we get a sequel. Zack should be amazingly proud of the masterpiece he created.
Retrospectively if I was asked to work on JL after watching the original Snyder Version - I would of declined and tell WB I'm not touching another persons work of Art. But instead Wheldon and WB went ahead and sabotaged it.

The real Justice League (ZSJL) is a beautiful movie on so many levels. The connection that Zack Snyder has to the characters of DC goes beyond being a fan/storyteller. These characters are heroes because of the tragedy that they overcome. Being an adoptive parent like Zack Snyder ties him spiritually to the plight of orphans and children who have lost parents. Like Superman, Batman, Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman, etc. In many ways, it makes Zack's loss of Autumn all the more tragic. I can't think of a more perfect director than Snyder to tell this story.
There was a part of us as fans that always knew the Justice League movie got shit on and honestly...when i left the movie theaters when the first one come out...i felt like i had been robbed by WBs. It was such a disapointment and my expectations were just decimated. I am SO glad this movie was able to be finished by Zack Snyder and restored to the glory we all felt it would and could have been. THIS is what we should have gotten to begin with and im so happy. I believe this movie is going to be a game changer and set the bar very high for comic book movies going foreward and in return we will get much better movies hopefully as a result. Im happy for these actors and the characters and the DCEU as well...but mostly im happy for the fans and Zack Snyder...whom i felt were both shit on and done very wrong with the first release. HOPEFULLY now...the suits and the editors and the people that could care less about what they put out will now be held to a much higher standard and just stay the hell out of the way. Let the directors do their job...stop putting rediculous run times and chopping up the story so much that you no longer have a story. Because in the end...take away the special effects...the fight scenes...etc...a movie is only as good as its story and sacraficing that is the worst thing thay can be done. No amount of cgi can fix a bad story.

Probably one of my favorite scenes of Josstice was the post credit scene - the fact that it’s even better in Snyderverse excited me 100x more

Snyder did in 3 films what Marvel did in 20. Exactly what WB wanted him to do and they shot themselves in the foot undermining him.
Here's some insider information: The scene where Flash saves everyone from the debris was actually completely finished with all the special effects and whatnot!!! Joss deleted it saying audiences wouldn't understand what was going on! I smell bullshit! I think he knew that was cooler than anything he did in his Avengers films!
This movie was AWESOME!!! It made so much more sense. They explain the mother boxes and the exact reason why Darkseid wants to conquer Earth. Every character was completely fleshed out, especially Cyborg and the Flash. Their character arcs were amazing. The Flash at the end was God like, what he pulls off was amazing. The 4 hrs flew by. It didn't even feel like a 4 hr movie. This was a completely different movie than the Josstice League piece of shit. I wasn't even that excited to see this, but boy I'm so glad I saw it.

Fellas, keep inmind David Ayer's Suicide Squad was just as butchered as Zack Snyder's Justice League. Ayer confirmed that Parademons where supposed to be in the film, and it tied closer to JL than the theatrical cut did. Also, Leto and Margot Robbie and David Ayer has said they shot so much material they could have had a Joker/Harley spinoff with it. WB Execs & Geoff Johns interfered.

Though I love Marvel just as much as I love DC, I love mainly the different directions they took in Movies: while Marvel movies are like our monthly comics that we love to read and follow, DC Snyderverse movies are those special graphic novels we carry through life.
From my perspective, Zack Snyder is to DC Movies as Alex Ross is to DC Graphic Novels.

I love the fact that Wonder Woman was respected and was a warrior on this version. I hated how Joss’s version was sexualizing her.

In my opinion, and it's only an opinion. This cut vindecates Everyone involved in the justice league. It vindecates Snyder's vision. It also vindecates the studios point of view. The movie is often self indulgencent and there are many parts that just don't drive the story. We just had no need for the singing villagers. There is easily two hours that could have been trimmed. It also in a strange way vindecates Joss. I can see what he was trying to do and in some places his choices were the right way to go. His Cyborg meets Wonder Woman scean works better. The retelling of the age of heros did need trimming. Some parts of the fighting did need tightening up. Parts of the score is out of place. Had Joss done what he was hired to do and just wrapped up the filming and worked with Snyder to edit it to two hours it would have been a successful pairing. Now some of Joss choices are problematic. He literally removed every person of color other than Cyborg and his father from the film and reduced their role to insignificance. Even the blacks. Arabs and asians of the age of heros were removed. Leaving the impression that only white men were part of the age of men. It's a case of just begging black people to have an issue with it. Where one just didn't have to exist
I loved The Snyder Cut, I've watched it twice so far. I could not take my eyes of my screen, so well done I couldn't even tell it was 4 hours long.
Rotten tomatoes is biased and I have seen biased, toxic and negative reviews 1.5/ 5 , 2/5 their reasons are "same trash but 4hrs long" , " hallelujah can't save this messy film " and those toxic critics gave captain Marvel and Ant-Man 4/5 and 3.5/5 score WTF why these persons exist and why they are allowed to rate the films.
The Wonder Woman sequence was so fucking badass!
I don't blame Whedon's movie gutting everything because the studio paid him to make it 2 hours, they insisted on it. He was just doing his job. Snyder's cut was way superior, it will be the only version I will ever see going forward. So happy we finally got a better Justice League movie. The fans deserve this so bad.

Happy to see a lot of people enjoyed it, I tried and found it better than the theatrical release but still really bad. But I also dislike all of Snyder's DC movies so in the end this was not a movie for me. Still congrats folks on getting this version released and I'm happy you all enjoy it. I will have to go back to the comics for dc entertainment meant for me.
Thing that is getting me the most hyped for this is all the talk about the emotion of this movie, that it actually has an understanding of the emotion and motives of the characters, as thats what I love about MOS and what I think ruins BVS for me, BVS was Snyder going more for spectacle and cool than it was him going for emotion, which is why riffing on Dark Knight Returns and the Death Of Superman storylines fell so flat for me, because it was the spectacle without the emotion or meaning behind them, so if this nails the emotion and motives of the characters right then fuck me this is going to be special.
I’m not the biggest dc or marvel fan but I’ve been following this story and I’m so happy for Zack Snyder! It’s such a sad and crazy story and I hope we get a documentary or a Making Of for this! He deserves the praise! I hope he can finally move on and continue a unique and successful career! The hate blows my mind though. If people like something there will always be those baby dicks that try to ruin it.
For someone who loves Watchmen, I'm super okay with the blood splatters and the violence, the R rating doesn't matter to me (I saw RoboCop 1987 when I was 6yro and that violence didn't traumatize me). Everything I've heard from you guys just confirms that I'll definitely love the Snyder cut. Thank you for not spoiling the film.
