I hate how everyone makes imovie seem so lame. I have been editing all my videos with it, and I absolutely love it. Its not just for beginners, its for everyone :)
I am a small TH-camr and found your channel 3 weeks ago. Since then I have put all your videos About TH-cam in my watch later and I am almost done with all of them. They all help me so much. Thank you.
I have been using iMovie to edit my videos since I started my channel in October of 2019 and I thought that I was already pretty confident in knowing everything there is to know - AND THEN you post this video and I learn so much!
I try to soak in as much of this as I can. I have zero filming and editing experience, but I know that the viewers don’t care, they want a good product. We just need to get a little better each day. Thanks Catherine!
I’m glad you shared how long it takes you to edit. I had always assumed that larger content creators get thier videos filmed, edited, voiceovers and uploaded in no time! It’s crazy that it seems like regardless if your a bigger channel, more knowledgeable tech savvy creator or a super tiny/ new creator that editing process is NO JOKE. The end result makes everything appear so seamless and easy.
I had no idea how long it takes either, and like you thought it was so easily and quickly done. I have heard some content creators who outsource their intros and some editing, which I think could be a good hack if you need it
I am watching this while editing my video that is going live on Monday. I applied the slight zooms to my timelapse and I LOVE HOW IT LOOKS! I like to try at least one new thing while editing each video so that I'm constantly leveling up without so much overwhelm. Thanks for the awesome content!

Ann Dove what type of macbook did you buy? I mean what kind of processor? Do you really need an 1,7 GHz i7 (8th generation) or is an 2 GHz quad core i5 (10th generation) just fine for editing videos?

Not sure if you mentioned this, but on iMovie, if you click the "R" key, you can select sections you want to delete rather than have to split, then trim. Just saves a step! Congrats on 100K Cathrin! You inspire me so much!

I am considering buying a Macbook and switching to iMovie so this is enormously helpful! 😁 I wanted to ask you if you have ever had any videos removed from search results even though there aren't any strikes or flags against it... Two of my most popular videos have been removed from Search, Suggested Videos and Home Page (they went from 8000 Impressions per day to literally ZERO....) I've spoken to support and they assure me there are no strikes against my video or violations of the guidelines but I have to wait weeks or months for a manual review... This is very discouraging and I don't know what I'm doing wrong to avoid this happening again for future videos. You are BY FAR the BEST TH-cam expert I know so I wanted to see if you've ever experienced something like this. Thanks again Cat, you're the best! 🙏
I've never had that happen to my channel so sadly I don't have any personal experience to offer advice! But one thing I will say is that TH-cam is in control! They will decided if your video ranks and where. Also when it gets suggested and when it does. Some of my videos have received a ton of views because it's being recommended and then almost nothing just because they decided to stop promoting it! I haven't had them completely go down to 0 but it's all algorithm based

Daily fluctuations and severe drops are expected but my impressions have been literally zero for almost 2 weeks now... plus even if I search the entire title exactly, my video doesn't show up. Thanks for responding so quick! 🙏 I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait for a manual review... it's just really discouraging when instead of growing, I'm going backwards with no explanation as to why. Thanks again Cat. Your videos have been extremely helpful to me for the past 4 months =)

The first video I saw about the idea of using iMovie was yours. I edited my first video is up and I can’t believe it came out the way it did! I didn’t use canva. Instead I usted keynote. I used iMovie before FCP. I definitely find FCP easier to use but that's probably just because I'm used to it at this point! I love the editing process too, so that's a big reason why I made the investment!

Do it in your own timing but I encourage you to take the leap. You will wake up in the same house, on the same side of the bed the next morning. A lot can happen overnight but posting your video might be the changer you are looking for. Let's Go! I would love to see it, will follow you.
I recently upgraded to Final Cut Pro X from iMovie. It is a surprisingly steep learning curve. (It is also a complete processor hog.) However, the benefits are incredible. So many great plugins that help with titles and lower thirds. It has certainly improved the professionalism of my videos.

IMovie is great! But I am using Movavi for my TH-cam videos, for now it is okay but thinking to upgrade to Adobe Premiere Pro 🙂🙂 Great tips! 🤗
Try davinci resolve before paying for premier Pro. Davinci is free and very powerful

I recently upgraded to Final Cut Pro X from iMovie. It is a surprisingly steep learning curve. (It is also a complete processor hog.) However, the benefits are incredible. So many great plugins that help with titles and lower thirds. It has certainly improved the professionalism of my videos.
