As soon as I started watching you, I started to move my shots more and your tips are honestly so helpful! I just hit 1,000 subs and Im so excited and I definitely need better music for my videos so thank you! How did you stay motivated in the beginning to keep working at it? I can feel so disheartened sometimes!
Lorelei Don’t be disheartened. You are doing good and your channel looks great. Remember why you started. Think about the good things or write them down. What makes you happy about what you do. Keep it up!💃🏻
Gosh you got me at disheartened. I feel like the TH-cam journey can literally rob someone of all joy at times.. and people just dont talk about it in their content.
Can we talk about how nice it is of Cath to share all these secrets of her TH-cam success with people? Not everyone would be willing to share this many details with us! 😂 you are one of the few youtubers I try not to skip the ads because I want to support your channel as much as possible since you have helped me SOOOO much with how I want to improve my future videos. Thank you!

I just wanted to say thank you for doing what you do, the value you provide to new content creators is crazy. I am almost at the 1000 subscriber mark and I owe a huge part of that to your content. I try to implement the strategies you talk about and feel like I have become a better TH-camr since. I share your content with anyone who asks me for TH-cam advice. Keep doing what you do, it's helping out so many creators who need the guidance, like myself 😄
Oh thank you so so much! I'm glad that I can help and congrats on almost 1k! That's amazing! You've got this, stick with it, and if there is anything you want to see on my channel, just let me know!

I've been bulk watching a shit ton of "how to make videos" vids and most of them haven't been nearly helpful enough for me. This one is perfect. This is the kind of content I've been looking for. Thanks so much for giving us an inside look at your process - it's so, SO helpful.
Epidemic Sound is awesome. I've had the chance to try their free trial and is a game changer. It is much easier to find music for a clip. A pro tip I have for the time lapse is to speed it to 5000% and add motion blur to the clip. It's going to look so much better. The rest is pure gold for someone trying to learn how to edit B-Roll. It was very fun to watch! That red Rec dot though... Congrats!
Ive been doing youtube for years now and the last 6 months i have found your channel and slowly doing things that you have suggested. I have started to see not only more views on my videos but gaining more subscribers every day. Thank you so much Cathrin for sharing all those tips! I started a TH-cam channel 3 months ago to teach French in a fun way and I am so happy I found your channel, I love your content and it's really helpful! :) Also I wanted to tell you that for that recording screen, instead of using images and alternate between the images, you can use green screens, that's what I do, it's super easy!
I incorporated your tip of using sound effects between transitions! "bottle cork" and "golf hit #1" are my favs on iMovie and I have noticed my audience retention rate is higher in the videos I used those in!
I did the same, and I find it helps move things along, and separates segments of my video cleanly. I think my next new project will be to try and include a touch of b-roll between a-roll segments.
You always have the best advice and the thing that sets you apart is you make us feel like you genuinely care about our success. Figuring out TH-cam is like a giant puzzle and you are definitely helping me put the pieces together!

We've followed you for a long time before you took off, and this video really hits what we are trying to work on. We're in the dormant feeling of feeling our videos are pretty good but not getting enough views, so we're really trying to focus on watch time per video. If you have time and want to give us any pointers Sam and I would appreciate it! Thank you
Thank you for making this video. Honestly I've always heard of epidemic sound but never bothered giving them a shot but you were able to sell their value so much well that I went ahead and subscribed and used your code, which I also thank you so much for! Lots of love and respect to you and your channel🌷😊
wow Cathrin you have changed my life and I saw you got emotional in the last vid but im serious you have helped me so much and I just fell like you have unlocked a whole new chapter in my life. thank you so much!
Actually the "unnatural" static Matcha scene was very funny, because it's so ironic to the way you usual film 😂 I just found your channel and it is SO helpful!
You are seriously the most helpful TH-camr for content creators! I just wanted to add that I've never seen someone do a sponsored video quite like you did, where it was actually instructional and helpful instead of a blatant cash grab. I never knew Epidemic Sound had so many amazing features, but thanks to you, now I do!
You can make a green-screen version of the camera animation, have it on loop for 1min, nest, export, and then overlay over your videos with chroma-key.

It's true that the value and the content comes first....but is AMAZING watch and receive that VALUE with the best video quality....Another way to STAND OUT and become a PURPLE COW on TH-cam, something obligated to grow!!!
Thank you so much for everything you do. I just started my channel about a week ago and now I have about 110 subscribers. I owe many things to you. I cant wait to grow more with your help. Thank you.
I always get scared because I'm worried that my videos will just fall under the radar even though I've only made 2. I have ADHD and a bunch of other things that make sitting down and doing stuff like TH-cam, really hard because I just want to move quickly and get everything done. I have anxiety and it makes me feel like if I get bad engagement then my video sucks which I know isn't true and I'm starting to realise that while watching your videos and some others. It's hard to make videos talking about such personal experiences because it leaves you very vulnerable and anyone can see them. I'm so glad that I finally got the courage to do it and it honestly got easier to film after a few times of trying. I wear headphones in my videos so I can listen to music or ASMR so I have some sort of background noise while filming because I find it very awkward and get uncomfortable while filming in a quiet room because I feel like everyone can hear me in the house. The headphone method really helps but it also looks kind of bad in the video so hopefully I grow out of it soon and gain enough confidence to be able to speak freely and loudly in a quiet room. I plan on posting once a week and only doing videos about personal issues that effect me and others because that's what I'm passionate about, I noticed that it helps me get over the the issues if I talk to a camera about them and not a person that could judge me, I highly recommend TH-cam for anyone that is struggling with depression and is stuck with their thoughts constantly at home. anyway sorry for the long comment, I just thought I could give some additional tips to help people and show you my support while doing so! Good luck and keep doing videos like this, you're killing it and helping a lot of people fulfill their dreams 💖💖💖🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽💖💖💖
I feel like these tips were only made for me as a new TH-camr :D I've only uploaded two videos of my artwork but I've been struggling with music so I chose to not add any sounds :o Thank you so much for explaining your process for adding music! Very helpful :)
Thank you for sharing your experience. Since I’ve started my channel, I’ve realised, that even if my content is completely different from the others, I can still take the best from each ‘’TH-camr” to grow. I think you’re very good on what you’re doing and I can see you’re having a 500k+ in a year or two!🙌🏻
I love love Epidemic Sound it has been incredible for my TH-cam Content I found that other platforms music sound like trash. It is so much easier then hunting down SoundCloud users and asking them for permission keep killing the content like you always do blessings to you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Yes! I'm so glad that you like Epidemic cool! It's seriously stepped up my game when it comes to music and makes my life so much easier with finding songs!
Cathrin you have such helpful tips! I have just found you, maybe a month ago, and your content is just pure gold!! And I think it's so inspiring to know that you've struggled in the beginning. But you are a really hard worker and you deserve all of this success!
We really love Epidemic sounds too. We use it a lot in our vlog style videos and as a base sound for our sit down videos. I love how your goal is to help others out! We really appreciate it. We have never checked out Canva but we will definitely give it a look. X
For anyone trying to achieve their goals: Knowledge is Power! Read more books! Then don't fall into the trap of being Knowledgeable. You need to Apply that knowledge to reap the benefits. Most succesful people in all disciplines of life have a thing in common! They read lots of Books! Bill gates reads 50 Books a year! Reaaaaaaaaad :)! And Good luck.
@@jalenmacon Sure thing! In this day an age you can learn a lot from the internet and social media platforms like the youtube video we are watching here! However, Don't forget how often Gary V Mentions Google! Everytime someone asks him how to do something he's like It's Simple. G- O O G L E . So be sure to know that for Gary to reach the success he did today he probably read tons too! And ofcourse there are many People that may become succesful without reading. But if you read you have a higher chance because Books are Gold-mines of valuable information. Especially if you pick the right ones. If you watch a lot of videos on youtube you will find that some things get very repetitive, and even the information you find online is not that good. However usually people pour their souls into books which in turn Deliver great value! Also, Gary V has written 5 books! That shows that he Does indeed encourage reading books I agree that its about learning regardless of the way you choose, but You can read much faster than you can hear. Reading books will usually give you more knowledge faster, Because you can read faster than people can talk. And ofcourse Every person learns in a diferent way, But i find that to be the case in my life. There is also Statiscally speaking a VERY HIGH Correlation between reading books and success.
It’s nice to know I’m not the only person using IMovie. I’d been feeling restricted by the platform but after seeing this I think I just need to rethink how I’m using it to make my videos more interesting Thanks for brining that to my attention. Much appreciated
Love your tips! I seriously think that I talk too slow, few months back when I first saw your video i told myself "dang, she talks fast i love it". Since i dont naturally talk fast, i tried to edit my speed at 1.25 + your editing tips and i love the result. Thanks for sharing!
I absolutely love your content, and I feel like watching your channel has finally given me the push I've needed to start uploading videos. I've been wanting to do it for years, but have always second guessed myself, but I finally got my first video up today and am now watching your channel to get some ideas on how I can grow and improve from here!
It’s been so inspiring to see your growth! Congrats on getting such a great sponsor. It aligns well with your brand. Thank you for all of the helpful tips you shared in this video. I appreciate how you included the ‘boring’ clip to demonstrate your point.
I have not checked in in a while. How’s your subscriber count gone up this quick in the last three or four months? Well deserved. You put out really good info. I am new to all of this but you make learning easy. So thank you for your time.
You are more bubbly than a bottle of champagne!!! You're fantastic. Cathrin, where did you get that fuzzy shirt? I've been looking for something like that FOREVER (ok only about 2 months but seems that long. :D )
Really enjoying your content. I’ve just started and I’m a very persistent person and will keep going. I want my early videos as a constant reminder of where I’ve come from! Thanks for all the helpful information!
Always trying to incorporate new things into my videos and I've learned alot from you. Another thing id love to see how you do and eventually work into mine isnHow do you do your overlays?!
Awesome video!!! Your tips are THE BOMB! My channel has been slow to take off so I'm going to try and make them more interesting with your editing tips.
I've been using Epidemic Sound for over a year and here you are still teaching me things I didn't know about it 😅 Aaand that's why you're awesome! Haha. Yay sponsors!
These are my notes, hope it helps ! 1. Take note of the different editing styles you like from the creators you follow. 2. Move your camera around 3. Make timelapses 4. Cut at different sounds (opening a cabinet, turning on the microwave, putting a glass on a table, etc.) 5. Cut your movements into 1,5 sec clips 6. Add music and/or sound effects (it does help a lot if you want a certain vibe to your video) 7. Make sure the sounds of your voice/music are approximately on the same level 8. Add overlays and texts if necessary

That would be super helpful!
Thank you for sharing your experience. Since I’ve started my channel, I’ve realised, that even if my content is completely different from the others, I can still take the best from each ‘’TH-camr” to grow. I think you’re very good on what you’re doing and I can see you’re having a 500k+ in a year or two!🙌🏻
I have a whole playlist dedicated to TH-cam tips and 98% of them are videos made by you 😅
The section where you had the two different images for the record screen is GOLD! only true editors know this.
Love the tips. Trying to improve my watch time. Hopefully this will help
Thanks for all your tips! I have got to step up my editing to make my videos better!
I love love Epidemic Sound it has been incredible for my TH-cam Content I found that other platforms music sound like trash. It is so much easier then hunting down SoundCloud users and asking them for permission keep killing the content like you always do blessings to you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
TalkinWithTonio no lie bro lurking around SoundCloud is the WORST
Yes! I'm so glad that you like Epidemic cool! It's seriously stepped up my game when it comes to music and makes my life so much easier with finding songs!
TheContentBug Yes keep doing what you are doing this is only the beginning 💪🏽
this was legit helpful! will definitely give epidemic music a try soon! thanks girl!
18:09 I Think This Happens To Every TH-camr Hahahaha
Cathrin you have such helpful tips! I have just found you, maybe a month ago, and your content is just pure gold!! And I think it's so inspiring to know that you've struggled in the beginning. But you are a really hard worker and you deserve all of this success!
10:30 - Damn... that's actually a really cool feature to have!
We really love Epidemic sounds too.
We use it a lot in our vlog style videos and as a base sound for our sit down videos.
I love how your goal is to help others out! We really appreciate it.
We have never checked out Canva but we will definitely give it a look. X
For anyone trying to achieve their goals:
Knowledge is Power!
Gary V reads none. It's about learning, regardless of how u go about it
@@jalenmacon Sure thing!
That shows that he Does indeed encourage reading books
I agree that its about learning regardless of the way you choose, but You can read much faster than you can hear.
Who else is trying to increase their watch retention rate?! 😩
Live out Loud with Moe Nicole ✋🏼✋🏼✋🏼
Me I am 197 now
Great tips.
Very Informative.
Thanks💪💯
Love your tips! I seriously think that I talk too slow, few months back when I first saw your video i told myself "dang, she talks fast i love it". Since i dont naturally talk fast, i tried to edit my speed at 1.25 + your editing tips and i love the result. Thanks for sharing!
*Thanks as again!* 👍

It’s been so inspiring to see your growth! Congrats on getting such a great sponsor. It aligns well with your brand. Thank you for all of the helpful tips you shared in this video. I appreciate how you included the ‘boring’ clip to demonstrate your point.
That's so amazing that epidemic sounds is a sponsor now! We've been using epidemic sound for a while now, it's really a great service!

"Practice Makes Perfect"...Congratulations, from Brazil!!!
I've been using Epidemic Sound for over a year and here you are still teaching me things I didn't know about it 😅 Aaand that's why you're awesome! Haha. Yay sponsors!
I am just seeing this video. I've never heard some of these tricks before and I love them. Simple. Things I can do.
These are my notes, hope it helps !
1. Take note of the different editing styles you like from the creators you follow.
2. Move your camera around
3. Make timelapses
4. Cut at different sounds (opening a cabinet, turning on the microwave, putting a glass on a table, etc.)
5. Cut your movements into 1,5 sec clips
6. Add music and/or sound effects (it does help a lot if you want a certain vibe to your video)
7. Make sure the sounds of your voice/music are approximately on the same level
8. Add overlays and texts if necessary
Cheatsheet - love it!
