They do not sell for that much ever. They are lying. If you notice eBay sold listings are one bid sales. Anyone can bid but not obligated to pay. It goes down as a sale. It's complete horse shit nonsense.

Bro I have 2 beanie babies, one rainbow named berry and one princess Diana I named miracle because I didn't know she had a real name, I hate tags because they get in the way when I am playing with the toy and idc about them so that also sucks for me

I just bought all the top 'valuable' ones brand new at a thrift store in exclellent condition for $1 a piece. I wish I had my $50 back as every single one is on ebay for .99. IDK how ebay makes it look like they sell for thousands, but they're actually just re-listed.

I still adore beanies! I actually found the Beginning Bear "TY Original Beanie Buddy" from 2000, i found it at Goodwill yesterday! and it still has the tag, and the plastic protector, and its in immaculate condition!! Lol I adore Beanie Babies soo much,

I still have most of the Beanies I bought in the 90s. I only bought bears but, I admit, I have a few non-bears. My mom loved Beanies and kept them in individual plastic boxes. Whew!

I had a ton of beanie babies as a kid and when I found out that people went this crazy over them, I found it hilarious because i always knew them as the fun little toys my mom would pick up for like a dollar at the thrift store
TY still make the bean-filled stuffed toys which my son collects, maybe one day, they will be worth something too!
There's a couple that are worth a LOTTTTTT, such as pink Peanut, who was in the first wave, and was retired first, making it the rarest beanie boo ever.

my father had 8/10 of these IN CLEAR CASING…. i spent my childhood taking them out to play with them whenever he was at work and i eventually ruined them all 😓

So, I'm pretty sure that there is a small group of sellers/buyers on Ebay who manipulate Beanie Babies sales. If you ever look up half of these on Ebay, most won't sell more than $20. However, for each of these, there are a few of them that sell for several hundred or even several thousand dollars... but they are all sold/bought by people with no reviews on their accounts or haven't sold/bought anything else besides a single Beanie Baby. I may be wrong, but honestly, if you do want to sell any of these, do some research first and don't believe half what you read/hear.
Money laundering
Recently discovered this same phenomenon. Looks like there are some people out there that may have taken a bath on the Beanie craze and invested heavily in collecting them. When the bottom fell out and devalued them, lots of people lost tons of money. I'm guessing there are hacks on ebay trying to falsely inflate the market to rebound. The person who created this video simply saw the completed sales/auctions, but didn't do her research. Who knows, she might be one of the hacks trying to assist in falsely inflating the value.
You're absolutely right. You could easily buy every Beanie in the video without a hassle.
Beanie Babies just aren't worth anything nowadays. The only ones that are, are first and second generation ones made until 1995.

I have all of these beanies. I was an avid collector as a kid (well me and my Dad). I haven't sold any of mine. They hold too much of a sentimental value. I was even part of the collectors club and have that collector clubby bear. I will never sell my fleece the lamb or squealer the pig. Those 2 were my first beanies and I love them too much still to this day.
Just keep in mind that the "value" of something is what someone is willing to pay. The fact that some of these sold for thousands doesn't mean that the same one will sell for thousands if you have one. To the right buyer, perhaps, but I would also regard these as more or less rare sales and probably will be fwer as time goes on (the values will drop, except for perhaps maybe some of the very rare ones that may always have a higher value).
But I will say that the real "winners" in the Beanie Baby craze was the manufacturer. They're the ones that got rich off the whole thing. Granted people weren't paying thousands to the mfr for the Beanies, but they likely sold a TON of them during the craze.
