A great old song done to perfection. Hank was the King of them all. He put so much into his gospel songs that they just seemed to flow. This is a great song and well liked even today. Hank made it that way.
I long for the days when churches were about the people getting together not because they all thought the same or were perfect. But they were broken in need of love, grace, hospitality and refuge from the world. Now pastors preach ideology not the love of all humanity is the gospel truth. That working class and rural church was beautiful because it had room for sinners and saints. knowing together they worshipped to bring in a beautiful world where no one is suffering anymore.
Hank Jr said it best in " Standing in the Shadows " - My friends they'll never be another Hank Williams . This song reminds me of my grandma - grandpa who's buried with all their friends in a cemetery at a small country church. Miss both my grandparents , but especially my grandma . God couldn't have made a nicer , sweeter woman then my grandma . Grandma passed away Just before Christmas in 1988 and there's not a day that don't go by that she doesn't cross my mind . 💝 you grandma - grandpa may you R.I.P. I've listened to Hank since I was 10 years old for 43 years I've enjoyed his music and personally think that he's the G.O.A.T. Hank , R.I.P. my friend & thank you for all the great music that I & others have enjoyed over the years .
Hank is and was a living testament for the love of God. The Lord gives us ALL unique gifts from Him to us, who He accepts as His children, when we seek Him with our true hearts. Hank was given gifts by God to be visible to the world.
Mom likes it. I was playing it for her. Great Song. I wish more people saw this side of Hank Sr. I plan to meet Him in heaven and Some of you do too. I read some of what You guys wrote
What talent, to be able to make people feel what you're feeling. God bless Hank Williams. I hope I get to shake his hand one day when I pass on to the other side.
I wish so too with all my heart, what a day that will be. Hank Williams truly was The King of country music and behind all of that was his beautifull heart warming personality and handsome face. You will always be my favorite singer❤💯❤ R IP I LOVE YOU AND YOURS ALWAYS sr jr
I just wanted to commend you for your tastes and individuality. When I was at school 45 years ago I chose to like music different to the rest of my class and I was considered a bit odd. I still like that same music now and once again I admire your strength of character and individuality. P.s. I'm getting 8 George Jones CDs for Christmas and that's only because I've got just about everything Hank ever recorded.
↘Johnnie Dover. This is a good copy with his guitar, but listen to the one at the Opry with Lil' Jimmy Dickens with his band and him talking. You'll like it. Run time 2:39min.
+Johnnie Dover; To your question why people "grade" dislike to a song, has been a puzzle to me. I grew up during WW II and there were many songs pertaining to the war; I check them today and many are "dislike". I believe the people that do this, do it on purpose, to upset the intelligent side of us that knows what is good. I look at it this way; if they don't like what I like, it is evident I would not like their "music". Don't fret, this is what they want.
Why can't you upload each CD in full play mode of this CD Album Box Set? Thanks for uploading this great music set,,but each CD of this should be uploaded in full play mode. Peace.
skankhunt 42 -April 5, 1952, Hank recorded this for AFRS show, withJimmy Dickens. Between Jan-Mar 1951, he sung this on the Mothers Best Flour Show #10-B2, I would say the person or persons backing him up would be his band, they often would on a sacred Song. Listen to The Old Home. They backed him up there.
That would most likely be Don Helms and Cedric Rainwater doing the backup harmonies! Listen to the full Mother's Best Flour shows,Hank mentions who's doing harmony with him!
Well I believe that it was an end of an era, it was the day the traditional country that the Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers brought to the main stage died. After that it was the transition into a more electro based style of playing and less of the folk origins of the genre. After Hank Sr. the genre took on more of the shape of what Elvis was doing and less of the style Hank was.
Those are 😢great memories

Love all of Hank's old country Christian songs.
I love his songs. Makes one feel your right there when he’s singing.

Poor bloke ... his back must have been painful ... So sorry Hank Williams .. You were fantastic mate !
It's been said countless times but I'll say it again , Hank Williams Sr could write a song like no other
No doubt about Hank Williams' songwriting. This song however was written by James W. Vaughn.
What talent, to be able to make people feel what you're feeling. God bless Hank Williams. I hope I get to shake his hand one day when I pass on to the other side.

I listened to this waiting on my Lord to call me home
I never tire of hearing this greatest of Hanks songs
I heard the"Best version" first and thought it was beautiful. Then I found the original track and was blown away, Simple is best.
Other version was just "digitally enhanced." Created more vibrant midtones with more digital editing. I don't dislike either version.
I did the exact same how ironic🙄
well... I'm the only 13 year old in my school who likes Hank Williams, George Jones, and Johnny Cash music. Hank's my favorite

real country music died jan 1 1953
Jason Lyles died 2000 😞
Died in the 90s. Definitely not 1953. Because between 1953-1993 we got Cash , Waylon, Hank jr , Merle haggard, George Jones, Willie , dac , etc...
