Albo is shining because of your extra hard work! The toothbrush came in as the champion and Ushuaia the cat as the spirit animal! Amazing job and all the best ❤
G'Day Nick and Mathilde, my Hubby and l have watched and enjoyed all of your world tour. We really appreciate the time and effort to clean Albo, to protect our Country Australia. Please take care when driving here in Oz. Especially early morning's and at night time we have lots of wildlife that have no road sense. Cheers Julie and Mick
What a rigorous process. I salute you for the thoroughness of the cleaning that must happen in order for the entry into Australia. My money's on yours being one of the cleanest they will have seen when they open the container.
After talking to people we realized we might be in some of the cleanest yes … we got stressed by many comments around and may have overdone fine of it. Really you never know
Maybe you should send the receiving agent in Australia a link to this video? They’d know then how spotless everything is-no need to do a deep inspection. I feel exhausted from all your efforts. Enjoy your next travels and some time back home. Looking forward to next Saturday.
Hahaha we did a photo book of all the places we cleaned with the result picture that we left in the car cause we thought that might be a show of good faith.
That was an awesome lot of work 🤪😵💫🤯 you both did! I love how you all helped each other 🤩! Enjoy your 6 weeks of rest! I can't wait to hear from you and Albo and your new adventures down under!
Nick, hi I noticed that the agent tied the vehicle down rather than the wheels in the container. The wheels should be blocked and then secured to container, with the gear in neutral. The vehicle body should never be secured, because of the movement in the shocks,
Hey, for Australia you can’t use any wood material, so they didn’t use chocks for the tires so that’s the only way we could have done the job. Otherwise you’re right.
We wanted a small container but weirdly on all the quotes we got they were more expensive and not available. Maybe there is a shortage? So we ended up with a big one. And we did not find anyone to share with us which was a pity
Really inspiring what you are doing, I got a question regarding paperwork. There are a few countries that require the registration of the car to be active to be able to temporarily import it. In New Zealand we need a safety check to be completed before we can renew registration (12 month duration), how do you get around this to keep your rego active?
hmmm I dont think it is a problem, you show your old registration I think. If you have instagram you could go ask to our kiwi travelling friend Tom @touring_tom he was travelling with his kiwi defender for 18 months in the Americas and did not seem to run in any issue.
I've been watching from Texas ever since you went to Alaska with Eva. So cool that you've now finished the America's! How long will it take albo to ship to Austrailia? Looking forward to watching those episodes because Australia is a place my husband and I would like to visit (I don't know about shipping our vehicle though. I got exhausted just watching you clean yours lol).
Et oui demandez à Leigh et Stephy de Grizzly and Bear, ils ont mis beaucoup de temps pour nettoyer leur véhicule en Taïwan avant de l'expedier en Australie
I don’t know. My stress level would be topped out worrying about my ride out of my reach. I guess being a gear head has its own issues. I’ll be chewing my finger nails for you until your reunited with albo.
Hahahaha we were more stressed before albo left. We were lucky to get a few people telling us about their experience shipping in the meantime and we re happy and fairly reassured now
wow this was intense, makes me think Australia should have been the 1st country on the voyage. But doesnt Argentina have car detailing shops/ car detailers you could have worked with? this would have been so much easier in a shop with the detailing machines and tools
Yes and no to both questions. Albo had already travelled quite a lot when we bought it so amongst that dust surely there were left over from some of its previous trips. And for detailing shops in Argentina we thought of it. But from previous experience, no matter how much you pay people don’t realize the level of detail you want especially for a shipment like that and we did not want to bet on it. And we also know that to unmount furniture or do some of the engine cleaning they might damage installations. What we thought is that surely the best would have been to rent a spot in a detailing place and maybe do the work ourselves.
good question, and I guess the answer is : it depends.... for us yes, albo is equipped entirely to our need, it is our home and we know it by heart. Cleaning Is annoying but does not cost any money. it is mostly time. and time we have :) We would be shipping anyways to Asia after so, australia is somehow on the way :)

Awesome video as always Nick and Matilda. Congratulations on 100th episode this has been such a epic journey so far can't wait to see what epic adventures y'all are going to have in Australia. Also when the newest flag was put on Albo why did he skip a space? Thanks for letting us ride along with y'all on y'all's journey around the world.
hey Christopher sorry for the delay in response ! I am catching up :) you are very very observant !!! we have printed a sticker for Antarctica ;) we did not have it cause we did not know if we could go. so we ll put it when we arrive in Australia. unfortunately no penguin around to stick it
Great job. You will enjoy Australia. Thanks for helping to keep out diseases. For example, Australia's banana industry is threatened by diseases from South America.
It is super interesting for us because we don’t have such strict rules (already too late since centuries). And we know that the things that make Australia special for us (distinctive fauna and flora) are protected by actions like this
Look forward to welcoming you to Australia. Thought you would be shipping to Fremantle. Do you realise the name of your LR is also the nickname of the present Australian Prime Minister?
Great job on the cleaning. Learned something new about shipping vehicles to Australia. I do wish you guys had a shop vacuum cleaner to help you speed up the cleaning process. Looking forward to the next video.
This is exactly what I intend to do as well once the Pan Am is done. Curious, why did you choose Australian rather than shipping to Morocco, doing Africa and shipping from from South Africa to Australia?
Because we intend to drive back to Europe that we call home from Africa so for us it made sense to finish with Africa as from there we can literally drive to france :)
Question: since the start of your journey back in UE till this shipment have you kept a log book of the fuel & cost thus far, plus the times that you had to do engine service's and so forth?? Total distance covered ??
So we keep a log of our km covered almost everyday! You can actually see the number of km on every video at the end of the generic where we say “this is day xxx and we are in xxx” on the screen you ll see the km covered. Nick keeps a very detailed log of maintenance etc and we don’t write down fuel costs no.
@@NextMeridianExpedition Thanks for the reply, maybe you could try that with your trip across Aussie and Asia And Africa all the way back home?? Just a thought.
Congratulations on Episode 100! Such a beautiful video about... cleaning??? You managed to make something tedious into a fun and interesting video. Well done!
Hahahahaha I can tell you we were very hesitant in how it would turn out also by the end we could not care less about filming! But it turned out alright right!
Howdy ya Dirty Albies! Did you weigh the Albie before and after removal of the equip, and all of the dirt, sand, bugs, etc? That would be interesting! Please make sure the kitty does not stowaway! What a project! Thanks for sharing! We are on Wallaby Watch! Saddle up!
We did not weight it after but it was so funny, the roof had maybe 15 / 20 to the ceiling and after removing everything and coming back out the next morning the roof was like 3/4 cm to the ceiling and albo had his butt all the way up. And for the cat she was 14 years old! So adorable and the landlord told us she would always to that so she seems to be used to hang around with stranger and come back to her house that was just next door 🥰
Great job all of you , it will be worth it when you get there . Having your Owen rig is so much better then a rental . WOW guys, that is clean. Look forward to bumping into you in Western Australia, hope all goes well for you guys and I am shore you will have a wonderfull time over here🇦🇺 Jon 👋🏻👋🏻🙏
OMG...I feel sorry for you, so much cleaning. 😲 God forbid you do any of those outback roads in Australia, because you'll have that fine red dirt dust everywhere, I mean everywhere!!! In my case, I returned the vehicle covered in red beyond recognition back to the rental agency...😆
I love your videos, I live in Brazil with my family. If you can, visit the city of Gramado in Rio Grande do Sul, it is beautiful, safe and has incredible places! Big hug 🥰🫶🏼♥️
Great work! I'm afraid now to look into the corners of our defender 😰 Cat lovers are good people!😻 Enjoy Brazil, have a nice and safe trip, and very safe trip for Albo!!!

Hahaha true that. Normally no we won’t have to do such in depth clean. Just a good outside clean and usual inside. We were exhausted … we took time off at the beach it was great !
Well done all :) Lots of cleaning and i knew you would get it done. Like everything in your lives, no half measures:) Keep safe and looking forward to your next exciting journey . Sending much love from Scotland xx 🥰
Wow! That was a lot of work! Nice job! My body hurt watching you! 😣💊 Excited for you, of course. I am very psyched to see Australia with you! That is at the top of my list of places to visit! Bye Tom!!! You will be sorely missed! 😢
I’ll be that wasn’t as fun as it looked. But glad you’re seeing Brazil. There’s a lot there to see. One question. You probably considered it, but why not ship to Capetown, drive up Africa, cross to Asia and then down into Australia? Though I’m not sure how much of that route is open today with all the conflicts, but decades ago it was a pretty well used route.
Hello! So the idea for us it to finish the trip driving where we left from and so for that we prefer finish with the African continent as it allows us to drive back home to Europe
I guess it’s one water crossing that you couldn’t make Albo attempt on his own. I have never watched a car washing film before, never even thought of it, but really enjoyed watching this one, It was very entertaining, probably better fun watching than wielding the toothbrushes. A couple of years ago I researched lost shipping containers for a project. You will be pleased to know that the chance of Albo falling off the ship en route is very small.
Safe travels Albo! That looked like hard work. I bet it felt so great when you were finished! Sad to see Tom go. Safe travels Tom! On to the next adventure within the adventure! Cheers😊
That was asking a lot of a Kiwi to clean up a vehicle so diligently -- for Australia! He is a good friend, indeed. The irony, of course, is that once you get to Australia, there will be even more desert dust all throughout Albatross, than before. I admire your patience.
Oh the kiwi is going to New Zealand and the rules are quite strict too there! Haha yes we said we need to drive in a puddle of mud immediately to rip the bandage hahahaha
The good thing about having Swiss friends helping with the cleaning is that they have a reputation of being ultra-serious with that (referring among others to 'Astérix chez les Helvètes') 😄
Are you going ti the Australias ?....but with one, the south Australian Continent or the north Australian continent ? or maybe the middle one ?...so many to choose.
We d have loved to but it will be for another trip. We want to come back to Brazil one day and spend several months exploring. But that will be later on in the future
ola meus amigo, achei que voces vajariam pelo Brazil, ja estava preparando uma estadia na minha casa para receber voces que pena , mas desejo a voces felicidade.
You will love Australia! Here is, of course, also a whole defender community. If near Noosa (close to the must go Fraser Island) let us know and I bring you in touch with some defender people over there
Thank you steve ! Sounds great. Would you be able to share your contact with that info by email? So we can keep in touch if we can : nextmeridian.expedition@gmail.com
Thanks for cleaning up the car as I live in Australia and appreciate the effort. Be ready it’s hot here now. Can’t wait to see where you go and why you do. Just make sure you don’t leave your shoes outside haha 😂. Welcome.
Are you going to travel around the whole continent of Australia? I thought maybe you guys were gonna travel along the other side of South America before going somewhere else. I don’t know if you know but off the coast of Brazil they have an island called snake Island, and 60 minutes Australia actually did a story on it. I saw it on TH-cam. Be careful there’s a lot of dangerous animals in Australia I think the most out of any continent
Hey, it costs around 6000$, which is really a lot. If you share a container it’ll ve cheaper. To get full details, contacts and more, check out our Patreon.
@@NextMeridianExpedition I do like you. I was watching because my son and are planning to drive from Canada to Argentina, so I was watching to pick up any information that I could get from your trip.
It a good to read cause we kind of pray our little box is not on top of a pile next to the edge of the boat ahhahahaha
Great job mate 👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks 👍
You guys are so good & determined Tooth brush so handy. I admire you!
Tooth brush are the best hahahaha
Safe travels Albo! That looked like hard work. I bet it felt so great when you were finished!
Sad to see Tom go. Safe travels Tom!
On to the next adventure within the adventure! Cheers😊
Yea! Also happy that it is super hyper clean for once hahahaha it feels good
That was asking a lot of a Kiwi to clean up a vehicle so diligently -- for Australia!
Haha true! They put a lot of effort helping us 😁 but also their superb friends
Are you going ti the Australias ?....but with one, the south Australian Continent or the north Australian continent ? or maybe the middle one ?...so many to choose.
Thanks for the comment ! 😍

Im not looking forward to cleaning my landy when i ship to Australia as im still finding African dust from 2016 😁
Hahahaha that s exactly what happened to us. Surely there was still sand from Tunisia where albo went with the previous owner
@@NextMeridianExpedition 😂 I think mine might take a month to clean 😭😭 and I'll have to take the dashboard out too 😭 , but it is what it is 🙄😁
Wish you guys good luck!
Did it with a motorcycle 20 years ago.
Was a pice of cake.
Oh wow! That s cool!
All that work will be worth it,Australia is an exciting adventure.🤠
Yes !!!!
Do you mind to tell us little bit about the costs involved?
I believe they said they'll cover everything related to the shipping, in an upcoming video.
I'm curious too, so hoping so.
@@michaelharris1455 when I wrote the message I had not seen the entire video. My bad
Yes it’s all on TH-cam but for detailed details it’s on our Parteon
Are you guys going to take a tour of the amazon rainforest in Brazil?
We d have loved to but it will be for another trip. We want to come back to Brazil one day and spend several months exploring. But that will be later on in the future
Wow a lot of work! Good job. I would have used a pressure washer.
We did have one and used it extensively. I think we show it only on a few scenes very short in the video
ola meus amigo, achei que voces vajariam pelo Brazil, ja estava preparando uma estadia na minha casa para receber voces que pena , mas desejo a voces felicidade.
We decided we needed much more time than just two weeks to do a journey in Brazil. So it will be for another time !
good luck guys - love from Birmingham UK
Thank you!
@@NextMeridianExpedition done
Thanks for cleaning up the car as I live in Australia and appreciate the effort. Be ready it’s hot here now. Can’t wait to see where you go and why you do. Just make sure you don’t leave your shoes outside haha 😂. Welcome.
Funny we were actually speaking about that just yesterday saying we will have to change some habits
If you want ideas especially 4wd ideas hit me up there are some great places.
We won’t be able to see everything but we ll do a rather big tour ! Hopefully around and across
@@NextMeridianExpedition I don’t know if you’ve heard of the snack Aussie bites but they’re really good
Wow! That was a lot of work. Good luck with customs!
Thanks! Fingers crossed !
what is the cost of shipping to Australia? I'm planning on shipping my 4x4 as well. thanks
Hey, it costs around 6000$, which is really a lot. If you share a container it’ll ve cheaper. To get full details, contacts and more, check out our Patreon.

@@NextMeridianExpedition nice enjoy your travels
Well Nick and Mathilde, this is where I bid you adieu. All the best on the rest of your world trip!
Hi! Thank you for the wishes! But why adieu? You don’t like Australia? Haha or us anymore ? 😂
@@NextMeridianExpedition I do like you. I was watching because my son and are planning to drive from Canada to Argentina, so I was watching to pick up any information that I could get from your trip. Watching you has made me twice as excited to go. I'm even thinking of setting up an overlanders area in my land down there.(Once i buy it). Just to welcome overlanders and be able to provide the things that you all need from time to time. A nice place to camp, do laundry, have showers, repair trucks etc.
Hahahahahah wow what an amazing plan! Have fun and let us know if you have questions !!!
@@NextMeridianExpedition Thank you for that offer and I probably will have questions.
