I’d forgotten what an ‘Oh crap!’ episode that was at the time. Coulson’s exposed brain, and Peterson’s eye camera. Skye getting someone else to do her hacking for her was fun.

Yeah, seeing what Coulson went though and Mike at the end were definitely big oh crap moments for me. I didn't see either coming.

I’m always so intrigued by the Coulson scene as a scientist lol. His brain was exposed to the outside for so long, I’m surprised that he didn’t get an infection, nor have a bunch of scars on his head due to the major surgery. But of course, TV tends to ignore a lot of these things for the sake of plot and aesthetics lol

"It wasn't real. They were just messing with my head." Hits different once you know what happens later.

Fury always has reasons for his actions. But are they enough to wash the dirt off his hands? Everyone has to know where to draw the line, and Fury just can't do that!

Yeah, he clearly thought he could save Coulson, but it doesn't seem like he thought about whether or not he should.

The answer to your question can be found in the Captain Marvel movie. Coulson could have ratted Fury out to SHIELD, and got himself a nice commendation in the process, but he didn't. That kind of loyalty is clearly something Fury didn't forget in a hurry, first by bringing Coulson in early on his embryonic Avengers Initiative (all the way back in 1995) and secondly by making him his point man when it came to recruiting potential Avengers (as seen in the first Iron Man movie).

At the time I recorded this, I had only see through Thor: The Dark World (in release order), so I didn't have any of that information. It was fun to watch it all unfold and see more of their history together. :)

@@BritanyBinges Oh, you were certainly not wrong in questioning Fury's motivations for why he felt the need to bring Coulson back. Back in the day, a lot of us were also wondering the exact same thing. It is very handy that a major blockbuster movie would come along about five years after this episode aired and give us all a little bit more insight into why Fury did what he did.

My favorite episode of the first dozen. Love the chemistry between the actors in the Coulson and Raina scene 👍😎

Oh, interesting! It seems like FZZT is the favorite for most people out of these early episodes. It was definitely a twist I didn't see coming to see Raina and Coulson essentially working together to get answers they both wanted.

the machine was keeping coulson's mind alive and working. the other 6 operations were to fix and bypass the bodies damage until they could do what they did. bypass the heart, damaged lung, damaged spine? there will be answers to these questions, but they do keep you thinking about it all.

@@BritanyBingesRaina was completely manipulating Coulson. She is amazing at that and I don’t think she actually ever lies.

I love Raina's manipulation of Coulson. There is a reason they used her to recruit people. She is so good, she even recruited Phil.

I love when tubers are impatient to get to the heart of a story. But then are like, no spoilers!

I'm unsure if this is a sarcastic or serious comment. lol But, just in case, watching things as they unfold and just being told what happens are two completely different things. Watching things as part of a reaction channel adds a whole other layer to it since it's disappointing (and boring) for the viewer when the reactor knows what's going to happen.

I had not even recognized Felisha Terrell in this episode, She was my favorite character in The Company You Keep.
