Bless your heart Jennifer, When you said “I use to be an Engineer”.... dear, you will always be an engineer, now you’re a paper artist/Engineer. It’s quite an accomplishment to have an Engineering degree, own that and enjoy all your beautiful facets that make Jennifer, Jennifer! 👏🏼👏🏼♥️
Exactly! Any time I watch her videos with a friend or one of my sisters, I always catch myself saying, “look, look, she’s so smart” when Jennifer shares some amazing time-saving technique or a tip that reduces a whole lot of stress that card-making could lovingly bring (i.e the type of stress you get when forgetting to add acetate to a shaker card, and ending up with beads absolutely everywhere!)
So I was late to the party on this video, but God’s timing is always right on point! I lost my mom in May. It’s been very hard on both my sister and I as this marked the 10th year since we lost our brother. Mom was an avid quilter. When you turned those last designs into a quilting look, I felt my heart leap! Mom had lived with me since 2013. Before COVID, my sister visited every 3 weeks. Since lockdowns started in 2020, my sister was only able to visit one time, although we video chatted and such frequently, it wasn’t the same as that loving touch she was able to get every three weeks. My sister is having an exceptionally difficult time and just this weekend told me that she is afraid she will forget the sound of mom’s voice or even her soft scent. Mom had exactly two extra unopened bottles of the perfume she had worn for as long as I can remember. I had planned to send one to my sister tomorrow as a surprise. And now I have the perfect card design to send along in the package. God had given me the message to write already, but I was struggling with the card. I actually made several cards today, but none seemed to visually convey my heart. Jennifer, I don’t even know how to express gratitude to you, and many others, for so generously sharing on TH-cam. I know it takes considerable time. I know you risk someone stealing your designs for their own financial gain. I know it makes you vulnerable to immense unkindness. I just wish I could hug all of you that share without hesitation and let you know that you are making a difference in this world. For the record, it’s not just cards you share. I’d say you’re truly Sharing Kindness! May God always bless you and yours!
Thank you so so much for focusing on a beautiful method with new ideas that doesn’t require running out to spend $50 or more to be able to use your technique. I know you need to showcase products to earn an income, but it is very thoughtful to offer some ideas that are not $$$ demanding! Thank you. Thank you.
You know what’s great? Being busy and not going on TH-cam for a while, and then coming back and finding 50 of your videos ready for me to watch. There’s my weekend sorted. 😂
O' be still my heart!!! Cardstock strips on cards, my absolute Jam! Thank you thank you for showing so many ways to use these on cards and the quilt squares are my absolute favorite! I know what I'll be doing tonight!!! Thank you so much Jennifer!
I so appreciate the little details you share because they are the little details that give your cards the beautiful polished look I want to achieve as well. Thank you.
I think your channel is the BEST channel on TH-cam! You always have the best ideas and your work is so beautiful and meticulous! I have implemented many of your organizing ideas. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cards.
Jennifer, you and Cathy Z and Gina K have so upped my card making! Thank you. I’m a beginner and you give such excellent step by steps. You are an engineer AND a great communicator!
I love that you and Cathy Zielske are friends...I love you both. Making my own pattern paper from scraps is one of my favorite things to do... so addictive. I love these ideas to step it up!
I have taken on a few more jobs lately and didn’t have much time for videos...WOW! I learned so many things by watching this video. Thank you so much for being so generous with your talent! It is such a gift to us! God Bless You!
Another super easy way to achieve striped designs is to use quilling strips. No cutting and longer strips than these dies will cut which gives you more options. You won’t be using up your scrap paper if you go this route though. For using up scraps I use small dies like hearts, flowers, and circles. I like to have these kind of multi use die cuts on hand. A few years back I decided to stop buying Washi tape and ribbons. Instead I use paper strips. Usually I stamp or stencil before cutting the strips. The decorated strips serve the same purpose and are less expensive. Less stuff to store too.
I bow to your genius! Wow, so much more I’ve learned today. Your kids are so lucky to have you helping them learn this year. You have such a clear illustrative way of explaining things.😁
*watches Jennifer McGuire video, orders all supplies. Supplies arrive, can't remember why I ordered* LOL Thanks so much for sharing! Love your techniques!
I do like the look of cards with paper strips and it’s a great way to get rid of scrap cardstock. Thank you for the new ideas and for refreshing my brain on some of the ideas you’ve used before. I also like the “love your guts” die and will be sending that to all of my grandkids. Thank you again for your time bringing us these great videos. You are such a blessing in this world!!
Wonderful stripped cards,, ha! When you made the quilted squares my heart was happy. Also loved the stenciled strips with the new SSS stencil done in white. Lots of ideas to save for another day, but they’re so fun. The dies to cut perfect strips are genius. TFSharing, Jennifer! 💕🌈 💌
I love graph paper and always have a pad or pack in my paper drawer. Now I have another good way to use it. Thanks for all the great ideas and especially the bumper strip for stamping sentiments. Your engineer's brain has given me so many good ideas that my brain would never think of! LOL
So I just rewatched this video... still love it! I'm thinking of doing something with strips for a craft class at my apartment building. It'll be a free class, so cost of supplies has to be low. Thankfully I've a ton of scraps ready to be used! Thank you so much for all of your wonderful ideas!
Thank you for the great ways to use leftover strips. I have done some cards like this but you have given me some new ideas to use up the many strips that I have accumulated. Thank you for the wonderful videos that you bring to us crafters.
I notice the little things too! Like, a white shirt in the craft room? I love that you show us how to use bits and pieces and how to stretch our dies. I don’t know how you keep coming up with more ideas.
These are all beautiful Jennifer. I love to use all my scraps this way, it always makes me feel good to not waste cardstock. The stencil and embossing folder examples are particularly gorgeous!
Jennifer you truly are amazing. I just cannot believe how much time and detail you put into your cards. I am an engineer also so I totally get being obsessive about some things.
Another great video! I like the grid paper idea. My hands are bad shake etc. So the grid paper will be very handy. Yet another item to add to my shopping list! The embossing is great looks so classy.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💕💕💕💕💕😍😍😍😍🐶🐶🐶🐶🇬🇧🇬🇧
Every idea was great but my personal favorite Tiny Tidbit picked up from today's video: Using the Misti corner to get layers lined up perfectly (I struggle with eyeballing it)! Thank you.
Loved the ideas today for using up strips so goodness knows how many cards I will get from the strips I have amassed. Thank you again for sharing ideas and tips. Always learn something new each time I watch your videos.
Wow! That butterfly inlay card and the Boho stencil card are phenomenal! For once, I ordered the products before seeing YOU use them haha! I knew this release was going to be fun! Makes sense that you are an engineer....your precision and detail shows in every card. You have that ability to “think outside the box” and come with some pretty fantastic ideas!! TYFS!!! ❤️🦋💜
Thanks for the tips of the grid paper (I never thought of it!!!)......as usual, I always learn something new from you and your card making technique. Thanks from Singapore!!
It would have been so cute if you Jennifer Maguired the tiny card in the envelope! Maybe cut some tiny die cuts and stamped it and turned it into a tiny version of one of your cards! These were so pretty and clever, whoever gets these is a lucky person!
Beautiful cards and Wonderful tips! Especially like the graph paper idea and the bumper for the strips. Would never have thought of you and CZ as mega introverts?!?!
Wonderful video with tips, instructions and explanations: thank you. I think "love your guts" was my favorite card in this video (but they all were great).
Hello! I forgot to mention that my color combinations in today's videos were again inspired by the Card Catalog. jmink.me/3qKAm3K
