If this isn't the impetus for West Florida to find a Division I home, I don't know what is.

The question becomes do they have the money and can they get approve by the state to move up.

I don't see why they wouldn't get approval. They'd be the only public Florida university with FCS football.

@@hihello6623 Florida A&M is public and has football, so West Florida would be one of two such programs.

This flew completely under the radar. Good for West Georgia though!

Who is the best example of D2 schools moving up and being successful in D1. Success defined as going to the playoffs in football and March Madness in basketball, within say 10 years after finishing their four year reclassifications process.
South Dakota St has made many playoffs and been to March Madness

I'd be shocked if anyone beats NDSU:
      Football (2008-17): 6x National Champions
MBB (2009-18): 3x NCAA Tournament, March Madness win over Oklahoma

That whole Idaho, Montana, N & S Dakota bloc has FCS on lock. I don't see it going away any time soon, since none of those states have pro sports, they are the number one sports draw. NIL must pay a lot now for them to keep drawing top talent.

The question I have is, will the WAC try and add another D2 school out west?

Is Delta State a possibility in the future?

Really hope West Florida moves up soon and I hope the Southern Conference goes after somebody soon as well

For a future video idea: could you go over how you think bowl bids could change as a result of realignment? Brett McMurphy has already gone over how the 5 pac 12 bowls are seeking new affiliations, but realignment might also play out in the gasparilla and Fenway bowls who could now be exclusively power 5. since there’s more teams. What bowls could the merged MW/Pac add, perhaps the armed forces bowl and the independence bowl? If the AAC lost the Fenway bowl, would they add the New Orleans bowl or any others? What data goes into these decisions?

Interesting, I’m guessing we’ll see a few more GSC schools move up soon. Namely Delta St to Southland and West Florida to ASUN. Valdosta has come out and said that they don’t think they have the facilities for a move yet and wouldn’t go for it. If Delta and West Florida Move that’s effectively the GSC dead for Football.

The GSC is going to have to look into D3 for schools Birmingham Southern etc West Florida and Valdosta State should be next to join ASUN then Stetson 🏈 joins all other sports in ASUN

I still think Bellarmine joins the Horizon and Queens joins the Big South. But if Valdosta & West Florida join then its a moot point

@EagleEyesight Yes I know. I just feel they might join the Big South. It cuts down on their travel costs greatly.

Bellarmine is Midwest-adjacent, so that move would make sense.

@marcus813 I'm actually surprised they haven't made the move. Unless the school has a large alumni base down south. It could be the conference is waiting for them to finish their 4-year transition which expires at the end of this year.
