I have flown quite a bit on EVA's business class and I'm no great fan of their wines. My last flight was in April of 2024, so my experience is quite recent. The champagne is great although it's no longer Krug, but the wines were awful. Fine for an apéritif maybe, but awful with food. The service though is wonderful. They could update the lounge in Taipei, it's getting a bit tatty. I'll see what I think of KLM early next year, I have a flight from Paris to Saigon and another from Hanoi to Paris. Always nice to try something new.

It’s good to be critical but you cannot compare Asian airlines with European airlines due to many factors. You should compare to other European airlines.
Hi! I've heard this argument so many times, here as well as after reviews of fellow other TH-camrs. And frankly, I couldn't disagree more. There's NO reason why I shouldn't compare service between Asian and European carriers. Great service doesn't cost an airline more money but it's a matter of attitude and corporate culture. When it comes to food and drinks, why should I understand that a European or US airline cannot serve very good quality, while an airline from Singapore, Hongkong or Japan can? They pay very high wages in those countries, too - so that argument is off the table already, as well... I'm inviting you, though, to watch my reviews about Air France or Turkish Airlines on my channel - both clearly better standard. Also BA is better in the whole picture. I think one shouldn't too often compare a European airline with a strongly subsidized airline like Qatar that, on top, comes from a country that swims in oil.... But comparing European and Asian airlines is absolutely legit in 2024.
@@TravelSingFlyEnglishEditionwell there are many reasons why you cannot compare an Asian airline with a European airline and that’s because many factors. JL, SQ, NH, etc are for starters often much more expensive than European carriers on similar routes. Check CDG-HND/NRT fx. AF is often 20% cheaper. Secondly , there are more cabin crew onboard. KL has 13 crew on a B77W, SQ has 16 crew. Thirdly, union agreements are totally different and incomparable to Asian carriers. There is absolutely a difference in service and much is culture related. I find Asian cabin crew often robotic and not really personal. Also their English is lacking and they are often obviously carrying a facade of artificial politeness. KL crew is less polished in that way but often much more chatty, natural and into a joke. Of course it’s one’s personal preference what’s best.
It's always good to have different opinions, and I'm very happy that there's such a great discussion culture on this channel. Regarding airline culture and politeness, after way over 1000 flights in my life, I of course get what you mean. However, I cannot excuse dirty bathrooms with European culture and I refuse excusing a lazy staff with union rights. I don't need to get pampered like I would on Qatar (by the way, there you can also have very funny, happy and also interesting talks) - but I do expect a clean cabin, a clean lounge and above average food and drinks. I had great talks on flights with Lufthansa, too. I had very interesting, really in-depth conversations on long flights with Singapore Airlines crew - far away from robotic. Maybe not so much WITH Thai, ANA or JAL, also not too much on Emirates and Etihad. But that all is based on coincidences.... I spent a lot of time in the Netherlands, and I had the feeling of being in a regular, lower than average Amsterdam Café.
@@TravelSingFlyEnglishEdition these are fair points but as I argued before, you cannot compare Asian airlines with European airlines, it not a fair comparison.
@@Thijs-g4l I guess we just won't agree on this topic, which is totally okay. I'm a professional opera singer. The audience of a leading opera house wants and deserves to see/hear worldclass level. It doesn't matter if a singer hasn't had the best teachers in the world or doesn't speak the opera's language fluently or is indisposed bebaute of a cold or being up all the time with small babies at home. It all doesn't matter. The result is the only thing that matters, and that HAS to be brilliant. And that, even though am extremely different business, has to be the same when I go on a flight or when I order a renovation of a house roof or when I go to an excellent restaurant etc etc, whenever there's people involved. I think that I can and I have to compare, as all customers will compare eventually. And if an airline doesn't see and adjust to the advantages of competitors, the competition will sooner or later win over the customers if it's on a similar route. Nobody at an airline will listen to me, of course, being far away from 100K subscribers. But as you can see in the comments I'm not the only one who's very dissatisfied with the formerly great KLM. (very similar to Lufthansa, that's why I compared them a few times in the video)

So first they offer the leftovers and when I say Please Please Please (on a probably 4000 EUR flight) they start to switch on their brain to offer the bubbles. Thats ridiculous!
The world's oldest doesn't necessarily mean the world's best. Competition is fierce and KLM needs to step up if they wish to remain in the game. Thank you for your kind yet honest review. Excellent, as always. ☺ Sadly, the commentator in the previous message is correct.....U.S. carriers are far behind.
Last time I flew KLM Business was 30 years ago (I loved it) but it will be another 30 years before I consider them again. At least the seat was good but poor food/drinks/FAs/IFE and disgusting loos is far from a Business class experience. I guess the regular KLM travellers must pack a straw and blow bubbles into their champagne. Great review - and I always love the music selections.
A devastating, but necessary review of KLM!! Clearly some movers and shakers at the airline, need to be fired! How can the airline retain the privilege of 'Royal' in its promotions, if the service does not perform out of class compared to competitors?
Thank you so much. I always try aim at being super objective and clear in my thoughts during a flight, to give a true image of how a trip is like, for my viewers to take the right decisions for their own travels. I also prefer to say negative critique in a nice way, as I did here, too. I found it very sad to see where this proud airline is at the moment. The best example for how important the soft product is - dedicated service and good catering, no matter how modern the seat is. Thank you for being part of this channel! 🙏🏻 Chris
I have flown KLM long haul in business 3 times in the past few months, and sadly, I totally agree with you. The food was terrible, and the service was quite poor as well. The only good thing was the seat, I will no longer be giving my business to KLM.
Sorry, t’s probably me, but I find this video way too long and a bit boring too. I also think you are a bit too picky when it comes to certain things. But hey…..that’s my opinion.
Thank you for showing your opinion/feedback. It's always valuable for me to read feedback regarding the report itself. I struggle every time with making the video as short as particle while not losing content. I'm this specific one, I was very sad that I couldn't keep it under 25 minutes. I just didn't manage. I already cut out a lot of takes where I'd talk in detail about the food and the drinks, and also a lot more about the competitors, as I do in many of my other reports, as you might know.... - but that would have been just too much. Howeber, when it comes to service and quality of food and drinks, I think that there's not many excuses for low quality. Better service doesn't cost an airline more money, high quality of food and drinks should be very normal at the super high prices they ask.... I'm of course fair as always, saying in the report that if only the seat is important, then that's a great choice.
@@TravelSingFlyEnglishEdition thanks for your reply! I don’t expect too much when I fly and I am more than happy with meatballs in business class. To be honest, I rather have meatballs than other high cuisine dishes. I just don’t have very high expectation, like most people do. I am more than fine with a choice of 100 movies in stead of 500. I personally think that people nowadays are too spoiled and do not appreciate the small things in life. Everything has to be perfect and the best of the best. Just my opinion……,,,
I'm inviting you to have a closer look at my channel. There's quite a few videos where I show how much I enjoy also flying lowcost, auch as Ryanair and Easyjet. I'm very happy there, too! I am very well aware about just how lucky I am to be able to travel at all! - But: this is a flight/airline review, and I aim at being really useful for the audience of TravelSingFly. Therefore, I have to be as close to the experience and comparing with competition as well, to make sure my audience gets the best possible, most realistic picture, so they can decide for themselves for their respective travel plans.
The new seats are the only improvement on business class. I have flown klm often, mostly to KL. KLM cabin personnel do not clean toilets like Singapore airline because it is not in their job description. You should behave like a Dutch and start complaining. Also the standard to be klm cabin personnel is very low, any white Dutch skin is enough. Also they have fewer cabin personnel per flight. In Singapore airline is one cabin crew on business class is four to six passengers and klm one to 10 even. Also they expect passengers to sleep on most of long haul flights. That is why there is no service. Still it is better than all American Airlines,Lufthansa, air France, air europa, Iberia etc
I have a feeling that you didn't really watch my report. I'm inviting you to give me the exact timings in the video where I say anything disgusting. I'm confident I don't. I pride myself for making self funded, non commercial, unbiased and especially FAIR reviews here,on a channel that costs me at least ten times of what I make from it. I don't follow any other goal than giving exactly my experience. And you can see yourself in the end of the report how sad I was that I had to give, even though it doesn't matter for the airline and also gives me attacks like yours as a thank you, a non-recommendation. Always based on what else is available on the same or similar route. All positive and negative parts I explain and show in pictures. The audience then can decide themselves. If you carefully read the comments to this report, you will see that almost all transmitters who've been flying KLM recently agreed with my longworded conclusion
And lets not forget that KLM Bussines class is very expensive. My flight in dec with Qsuit with Qatar is 2200 euro while KLM costs me 3500 euro. The choice is made very easy for me.

(very similar to Lufthansa, that's why I compared them a few times in the video)
bad for KLM! Catering is bad!
how would even wanna fly KLM, don't waste your money
Bit of a griper..you should tell the crew about (all) the things you didn’t like, they absolutely would give you bubbles🥂
@@geertlucassen6943 I disagree.
It should be there first place. And I will never try to take advantage of anything just because I know how to hold a camera. This channel exists not to please me but to give my audience the best possible reviews and first-hand experiences for them to make travel decisions that are right for their respective situation and needs. (which can differ greatly from person to person)
Also I'm inviting you to watch my other flight reports. You will see that I always try to see things from a positive point of view, including when there's flaws.... I also try find the reasons when things don't work out so well.... I'm pretty convinced that I'm one of the fairest of all Aviation TH-camrs out there. (plus I never take myself too serious, only except for the topic itself)
So first they offer the leftovers and when I say Please Please Please (on a probably 4000 EUR flight) they start to switch on their brain to offer the bubbles. Thats ridiculous!
thanks, Chris, for enduring that and reporting back! what a disappointing flight - i would have been livid.
It's a good report for my TH-cam viewers. And that made the whole flight worthwhile 😊
Hi Dale! Thank you so much for the compliments! Totally agree, KLM's got to do something, and realize that comfort is not just about a seat
Thank you so much, Dave, for your comment! Bring your straw for bubbles! That's a good one! 😅😅😅
Thank you Chris, another great experience and information to share.
KLM is a X on my list from now on🙄🙄.
Thanks for this - I had been wondering whether to give KLM business a go - now I won't. Not even for the houses.
Good choice. The houses can be bought online.....
Very bad no cheese AND dessert offered
Frugal. Frugal. Frugal. I’d prefer to make a connection/backtrack to SIN or DXB or AUH or IST!
@@NYCLight exactly, that's the word. Frugal.....
Great work Chris ! Hmm, not much to get excited about with KLM. Thanks for telling us as it really is.
Most welcome! Thank you for being there as always 🙏🏻
I switched of your bullshit after a few minutes . Shame!
I'm tempted to give this comment a heart - for great achievement of knowing what's in the report without watching it...
What are
That you need to rewrite, I guess
Its terrible, embarrassing and lacks flavour, concerning the food
Chris
The Netherlands are a cheese country indeed, but they only serve French cheeses?
Good point! Why didn't I say that? 😅🤦🏻♂️
@@TravelSingFlyEnglishEdition cheese overdose?
I have flown KLM long haul in business 3 times in the past few months, and sadly, I totally agree with you. The food was terrible, and the service was quite poor as well. The only good thing was the seat, I will no longer be giving my business to KLM.
Yes, it's a shame what kind of management this airline KLM. A very uncultured one, that's pretty clear.....
@@TravelSingFlyEnglishEdition..I totally understand. I have watched several of you your videos. Thanks
It is not just yoy
Always excellent. That is KLM joining Lufthansa on my no-fly list. They really do not seem to care. Who on earth would travel with them twice?
@@dag4390 unfortunately still many people who just don't know that they'd get much better quality at the same price elsewhere.....
KLM is not cheap and dirty, your flightreport is disgusting, watch other reviews from KLM here, they all are very pleased with the quality of KLM
