  • When there was still snow on the mountains, we went for a walk up to the Green Loch, which is the translation for its Gaelic name 'An Lochan Uaine'. This place is right in the heart of the Eastern Scottish Highlands, close to Aviemore and surrounded by the Cairngorm National Park. We parked next to Loch Morlich and after a brief walk along the beach, we headed up to the loch. We took the easy path there and the more challenging higher path on the way back ... and just as well. The view across the snowy Cairngorms was breathtaking. I managed to get some beautiful drone footage along the way. And had nice cuppa after the walk, before finishing off with a stunning sunset at Loch Morlich. There's not much talking in this, as I think this beautiful nature spot speaks for itself. I hope you enjoy!
P.S. We did some hillwalking in these Mountains before. We went up to the Northern Corries, which you can see from Loch Morlich. You can find the walk in this video: • August | Vlog #4 | Hil...

What a stunning place! ☀️💕 loved those enormous gnarly trees. Love them. This is definitely a hike I’d put on my list when visiting Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 So cute that the mallards came right up to you- they must be looking for some food- ha!

There's a lot of camping grounds nearby, so the whole area is great for exploring. Plenty of forest walks and skiing in the winter. Aviemore, the closest town, is quite nice as well. There are many beautiful old trees! Old trees always make a walk more enjoyable for me. These mallards are quite bold, so they must be fed a lot. There are still wild mallards out there. 😂 The mallards who live on the little fishing loch we tend to frequent always swim away to safety when we arrive. But then again, that's hunting territory, so they may associate people with guns.

I'm disappointed you didn't go for a swim. It only takes a few days to warm up. Honestly. 😀

😂 There were so many people there, not very appealing. I would definitely consider wild swimming in a remote loch or burn on a nice camping trip. We went for a dip in the very cold sea next to the cottage we rented on Shetland, so I'm not afraid of cold water either.
