- Views of the April 8th 2024 total solar eclipse from Dierks, Arkansas through Skyshow.TV telescopes. Presented in 4K and HDR, as a best effort to replicate the astonishing dynamic range of the eclipse viewed by eye--there is nothing else like it on earth or likely anywhere in the nearby galaxy.

Yes, that was probably the best I"ve seen so far! I was able to see totality from Cleveland Ohio, my first total eclipse experience and one I'll never forget. I could see many of those red solar flares with my naked eye! Thank you for sharing that. I had it all planned out with a still camera taking photos, a 360-degree camera filming the whole scene and a FPV camera on my chest. The first two didn't pan out well for totality and the FPV one worked OK for the personal experience which I'm glad I have at least that for posterity. Photos and videos can't come close, however, to physically being there. It's an experience I'll never forget and that's priceless. Great video though, so great in helping relive that menmory!

I shot some photos through a long lens and was shocked to see the prominences with my own eyes, that was amazing, I didn't expect that. And the variety of colors, too. The sun is all orangeish, right? Nope, lots of reds and pinks and stuff, too. Worth the trip to see it in person.
Saw your live stream and have been patiently waiting for this. The images are stunningly beautiful and demonstrate your mastery of the available technology. Well done!

It's amazing how accidentally the moon is just the perfect size.

For now at least. The Moon is actually slowly moving away from the Earth at a rate of about 3.8 centimeters (1.5 inches) per year.
It is but sometimes when the moon is further from the earth we just see an Annular eclipse AKA the ring of fire, since the moon doesn't cover the entire sun.
@@JonnyFlash80 what i mean was that the moon is literally enlarging it's orbit slowly, like the dinosaurs had a moon that was closer to earth than us today.
Wonderful! I was lucky enough to watch it in southern Illinois and took photos very much like this. I was surprised to see some change in the flares during the few minutes of totality. So cool!

(I saw the totality on bald knob cross in IL, and what was most breathtaking was how far the rays of light stretched from the shadowy core out to the night sky with its planets and faint stars.... The altitude gave an incredible view of the shadow approaching and the dark land out to the horizon... Life changing event!)
Was surprising how dark it was of to one side of the sky a few seconds before and after but the moon itself looked really big in the sky

LOL I already had that mode selected on my 6K XDR and it nearly blew my face off. I'd love a behind-the-scenes video of this, and how you had to select F-stop one million!! I'm guessing 1:26 and 1:28 were just one stop too high?
As an HDR production aficionado, I'd like to know your learnings and recommended choices for HLG vs PQ, editing platforms and Dolby Vision vs TH-cam etc.
P.S. can we get some zoomed-in cropped replays of those solar flares?
Still learning for sure. The haze in the sky made this much brighter at the moments right before and after totality than expected, hence the brightness change at the last min. Thanks for tuning in!
What’s up with the giant missing piece at the very bottom of the moon? I guess the south edge maybe but the side that faces us the very southern point is missing a big piece

I realise that there are copyright restrictions and I appreciate that you will appreciate why I had to pause this at the start, roll a doobie and then start it again on mute with Pink Floyds "Echoes (Part 1)" from their 1972 performance at Pompei as an alternative sound track, it defies the laws of Physics not to..... Thank you, this is fantastic footage!
Are those persistent spikes solar flares?
Yes.

They are solar prominences, not flares. In solar physics, a prominence, sometimes referred to as a filament, is a large plasma and magnetic field structure extending outward from the Sun's surface, often in a loop shape. They sometimes persist for weeks. Flares last just minutes, and are MUCH more energetic, even producing x-ray.

Not even close dude. And i only say that because you were pretentious enough to put a banner reading, "Is this the best eclipse video ever?" You have great data, but need to work on your processing. Most of your timelapse is overprocessed, so there is excessive luminance and especially chroma noise, and also blown out highlights. Try processing everything in 16-bit only using Lightroom and Photoshop and use LRTimelapse to edit sequences. Import 16-bit TIF frames into your post such as Premiere or Resolve.
Thank you (genuinely) for the constructive criticism. The post-production crew wants you to know they don't like the click-baity titles. The marketing department wants you to know it increases click-through and subscription rates ~20%.
Also the production crew is currently squint-glaring at me so hard that I think they could look directly at the eclipse before totality. I responded that I did add a question mark to the end of pretentiousness though :-). Production crew still glaring.
