The foil tape is a great product, just being a bit nit picky, when you repaired the square hole i would have started with the first tape on the bottom then overlapped as i went up, that way any water that does make it in would flow down with no tape lip in its way.

Well Tobus, you’re a smarter person than me! Fingers crossed no water gets in there then🤙Kent

Thanks for your video. It's so good to be able to fix things yourself. It's very hard to get a roofer nowadays. I have a question: Would we be able to fix the sarking from the inside, instead of going up to the roof? We have roof cavity that we can crawl into and we can fix the sarking from there. Will it work? Thanks.

I've been wondering the same thing. I bought the tape and thinking to do it from inside the attic til' I see this video.

Hey Sally, (and Tung) yes you can, so long as you can tape up all of the cut sarking, if the cuts go over a batten or roof truss then I would suggest coming at it from above. all the best - let me know how you get on. Kent

Thanks for your reply. It is sealed now from inside. We'll wait and see when it rains, but I think it will work. Thanks again.

think i would of started at the bottom so that the tapes overlaps the right way!

Well spotted Dave, I thought the same thing in hindsight, so I tested out a section and water couldn’t penetrate the joins (nor could I separate the layers once they’d bonded) 🤙 cheers, Kent

Can you do this via the loft (inside out?) the building is three story’s high !

Hey Hillingdon, I have done this once before (patching from the inside), short answer; yes you can, just make sure your overlaps are favourable to water flow if any (so tape from top down). My opinion is ‘go for it!’ It’s a better option than risking your life 3 stories up😉
      All the best, Kent

@@InspireDIY Incorrect. Tape from bottom up. Look at the shingles, they start low at the gutter line, and overlay each previous row 'up' to the ridgeline.

Dood. You had the tiles out. Why didn't you seal the holes from the back of the tile with a piece of your tape over the hole. Would have made a nice level seal, and the tape adhesive will lift off the cured sealant.
