I've actually found a man willing to do those things with me. Just last night I was spiralling and despite him being 3 hours ahead of me he stayed up late 3 his time and 12 my time. I felt bad because I knew a few nights he talked about how he is always tired staying up late. But we definitely learnt more about each other which is the bright side he pointed out. He's truly a godsend.
And I know you’ve heard it just like I have brother when someone says” you control how you feel” that makes me so mad when someone says that because once those triggers hit I don’t control it anymore

It's funny actually, all those "you control how you feel" people are the first ones to go jumping into fights because someone made a joke
I think that citizen soldier has done 4 music videos on; “Limit,” “Through Hell,” “Unsaid,” and “Stronger than my storm.” As far as i know its all of those. They are all really awesome songs like all the others 😂 citizen soldier only making bangers 🫶❤️🔥
They have more music videos for their earlier songs too!
Love citizen soldier! When I was at rehab, we listened to their songs and watched their videos as they have such a great message. And as someone who battles with depression, this song nailed it! And I agree with everything you commented on. When we're suffering, we want someone who will get in the hole with us to help - and to shut their mouth and listen!
Loving the shirt! Jake has a great way of putting emotions into words and making it make sense. I have been absent for a bit, and I am glad I got back for Citizen Soldier. I love the lyric videos, so you don't miss a word There is a song by Guy Sebastian - Standing With You - that takes the point of the empathic person. There for you solely as support. You may have done that one already - it has a great video.

It's real, it's saving lives, it's hard hitting and at times hard to listen to because it hits so close to home for me. Many times I've wept like a child and I'm 54, but I'm not ashamed.

As somebody who struggles with PTSD, this song definitely hits home. I would also suggest that you listen to monster made of memories and words that don’t exist both by Citizen Soldier.

you can never understand how another person feels. we all carry a different baggage.. different upbringing, different ways to percieve and feel. nothing is more hurtful than "i been there, i understand" they can empathize, they can relate.. but they'll never understand cause everyone is unique

They don't see a point with making a music video!! They truly believe that pictures speak way louder n give a better message to what you're saying
One song that really relates and really hit me to the floor is Tattoos by them. I am not very familiar with them but seeing you react and do their songs made me explorer and wow what powerful music they make. Very relatable and showing that no one is alone because a lot of people feel this stuff… thank you.

When it comes to that analogy you mentioned, I have similar perspective. I'll do everything I can to help the person if they'll let me, which generally means I'm jumping down in the hole with some Lumber and tools and we're going to build that ladder together to get back out of the hole.
If I'm helping I expect to see progress. That is what I expect in return. However damn long it takes to get to where you need. I'm helping for free, not no reason. We either conquer this beast together, or we've both wasted our time. Just saying 😉
OK but good therapy should feel like just having someone listen and hear what they have to say and react with empathy and the fact that it's often not like that and that's why it doesn't work it's kind of fucked up but also people telling you to get therapy for your mental health struggles without acknowledging that maybe some of the problems you face that exacerbate those mental illness are actually tangible and maybe you need physical help with those problems instead of just toxic positivity to feel less sad about them and it's all like talk about your feelings OK well how is that going to put food on the table or shelter over someone's head like some people actually have legitimate reasons to be depressed not that that's required for empathy but so many people forget that
