I remember in 2004 the Armada coming out and looked like an impressive beast. Back then Tahoe, Expedition were so boring and had no looks to them at all. I use to love the short hood and boxier back or earlier armada. I currently have a 2022 pathfinder and I see subtle DNA of armada and earlier Xterra in the new pathfinder.

I have allot more trust with Nissan engines then with Toyota's failed attempt at induction. Nissan just doesn't make bad motors. And the Daimler benz 9 speed is proven. Its roots go back to around 2013. I'm not convinced GM has fixed their transmission and lifter issues. The 5.3 and 6.2 from around 2006 or older were such great motors. It's nice GM still offers the V8 but with cylinder deactivation that's a hard pass. I do believe they offer baby max diesel as an option and that is a decent engine Their 2.7 turbo is also a good design. But if you end up with a lemon from GM the service and support is really bad. So many have left that brand over the years.

See this is what automakers don't seem to understand. We don't care if a tiny V6 or 4 cylinder or whatever makes as much power, or more power, than a V8. We DON'T care. We don't want tiny overstressed engines even if they have high HP, cause they'll fall apart the moment the warranty runs out. We want low revving 6 liter V8s that will last a long time.

@@craigshort1421 you are right. It is highly inspired by it adopting it's concepts. "To accomplish this, engineers leaned on their decades of experience developing cutting-edge powertrains.
"Within Nissan's development team, there is a treasure trove of knowledge," said Sho Takahashi, senior manager in Nissan's Engine Engineering Department. "We didn't just build a powerful engine - we created a solution that meets the needs of today's drivers, whether they're adventuring off-road or navigating everyday commutes."
For example, to help reduce engine noise even while increasing output, the team equipped the turbochargers with a small groove at the entrance to the compressor. Based on technology first used in the Japanese-market Skyline, the feature decreases turbulence and stalling in the compressor entry, resulting in a 4dB reduction in turbo noise - a noticeable difference for the average human ear.
"This proprietary technology is the culmination of years of Nissan innovation," said Takahashi, who has been with Nissan since 2004. "It highlights how we're continuously pushing boundaries to deliver quieter, more efficient and more powerful vehicles to our customers."

Is the maintenance cost similar to the Qx-80? If it is significantly lower, then this might make more sense than then Qx-80.

Nah... the Tahoe still rules the segment with an iron fist. But this is much improved over the previous Armada. It gives the Sequoia a kick square in the nuts, but the Tahoe is still king... especially with the 2025 refresh. Good effort by Nissan though, I must say.

Nissan is dumping a lot of money into redesigning their vehicles. Good for them! Some aren’t my taste but I respect them trying. The Armada is nice. They should’ve given the Titan the same redesign and given it one more generation to see if it would get traction. This design may have done it.
