30:24 if there is no Scanning activated will the inverter adjust for shading? Other manufacturers have this setting set ON by default with automatic scanning every 6 minutes or so. Thank you
Good morning! Yes! The MPPT will still scan for the best output, but you can also decide how you want it to scan. But the panels have their own diodes to still get energy from the panel, but in Sungrows case, they do not reccomend installing panels in areas where its shaded constantly. This is also from the panel manufacturer, usually they void warranty if you do not use optimizers on shaded panels. The diod box on the back of the panel will release heat and can cause a fire. Look under "plant configuration", might be that if you have 2 inverters, one might accidently have the wrong capacity inputted, otherwise, make sure installer updates everything.
Is there a setting in the app to limit the residual current to say 30mA by the invertor and force it to restart as opposed to using an external RCD of 300mA which could potentially be dangerous Thank you
Hey @de4417, there is no setting for this. You need to make a decision about this while regarding your local electrical guidelines and rules. Best Tintin
Do you mean outside temperature? Do you have good internet connection to the dongel? If it is WiFi, you can see how well the connection is under devices. But you could try to restart your system, shut down everything for 5 minuets and start it up again.
@@menloelectric I think it is the outside temp. It's not a big deal (I don't think), it's a minor irritation that the temp showing on the app is not correct. Perhaps there is no outside temp gauge in my case?. I'm not sure about shutting everything down! I think I will just live with it :) Thank you for taking the trouble to respond.
Thanks for the video, I have some questions : 1. All the place i found on google about firmware update, they and you show where to find it, but it is on mine APP or Web 2. I have used Backup Mode, so when i charge me car, it will not empty the battery. after the car has charge i force charge to activate the battery to be used again. Then I need to remember to disable det Backup Mode Nexgt Day. The same i also need to disable force charge. I really need somethings more easy, and also only for one day, because the power is not the same next day. And i can not se some ware witch thinks are set. This weekdays i only use power from the Grid, and I can't find out why. I Hobe you can help me, because the installer/seller can or will not help me, so all i know is from google.
1. If you are an end-user, that is why. It is for installers, and they are supposed to update for you. 2. I wouöd recommend you to put discharge times to 00-24 for the whole day usage where the battery feeds the loads when needed. And there is weekday and weekends settings as well, so make sure you have chosen for the whole week, if thats what you want. And then you can set specific times for forced charge.
Hello! I have one question, I hope you will have one minute to answer. The loads which are not connected to the backup port but to grid, will be feed by the battery at night if the battery is charged and the grid is working? I known what it not connected to the backup port won't have power if there's a power outage, but how it works if is night, the battery is charged and the grid is working? Will the battery provide power to all loads, or just to the ones connected to the backup port?
@@TintinSungrow, thank you for your answer. The question was if the loads which are not connected to the back-up port will be supplied by the battery during night, when the national grid is working.
thank you so much for an amazing video. meanwhile I have a question. The part where you explain about weekday or weekend charging isn't that clear. if I set two-time ranges in here, does it mean that the inverter won't use the battery to power the house outside this time range?
Thank you for your question. Weekday and weekend are separate, so in discharge case you can have different times. But usually when you set specific times, it wont do anything outside those times, which I think is specifically for discharging. You could also manage by editing the minimum power used when discharging, so you focus on larger loads rather than small from the battery. That way you dont have to set specific times, but make sure your larger loads get help from the battery.
@@menloelectric Then i dont really see the purpose of this setting. I mean what can I achieve by setting two ranges, even if the behaviour is the same with or without this setting. ?
@@joyissac If you set ranges, it wont discharge other times, so you focus on specific loads. When it comes to weekend and weekday, usually you have different ways of consumption. So not sure what you mean if the behavior is the same, please explain further if this did not answer your question. Which specific setting is unclear? :)
@@menloelectric now it’s clear that was my question if I set ranges whether it will avoid discharging outside the timing. As I understood, I can use this range if I want to avoid discharging for a period.
I have had an account for our setup for about 3 years. I noticed that with the "user" account I have most of the options you show in the video are not available to change. Is there a way to change my account so I can get access to the other options. You mentioned that it looks to be now missing right at the end of your video. My main problem is that we have another 14 year old SME set up along with the newer Sungrow pv and batteries and I can no longer get in to change the values of the original rated power of third party power generation. It was all working fine until a firmware update but now it no longer adds the third party SME inverters output to the daily totals and actually shows a negative value on some nice sunny days. Edit: I did have access to those options at one stage as I have set them before, several times actually. But now I can't. Our setup is 5kw SME out on the shed and 6KW sungrow and 9.6kwh battery on the house. Another 3.2kwh battery was added to the stack back in March 2024 and then the software upgrade and the negative values shown in Isolarcloud since.
Hi! I didn't see it in the video, but the channel/partner setting is there under plant configuration. You can give yourself this access by adding another email of yours as an admin. Has to be different from end-user account, and have to be an existing account (end-user accounts create as you put them in the field in plant configuration "owner"). So maybe put another mail as owner to create, and then use original mail as an admin? Let me know how it works. /Tintin
@@menloelectric thankyou, I will give it a try and let you know how I go. Also in the "power control settings the "Total battery discharging energy adjustment" setting. The value is in kwh, Should that be set to 0 ? Edit, I looked at some older settings and found that the Battery discharging energy adjustment was set at 0, so i have left it at 0. As for the the extra options, I created another Isolarcloud account and then added it as a new administrator account in the channel partner section. I have picked some extra options but not all. On my original user account / settings /common parameter settings I only had 3 menus. System Parameters, Power control and Energy management parameters. When I log in with the new admin account I now have a 4th Power control showing but not the battery parameters as shown in your video around the 40 minute mark. Also still missing the "rated power of original power generation system" options as you show at the 35 minute mark in your video.
@@menloelectric : That was really helpful. I was wondering how to get access to the advanced parameters Now that helps with an additional info. Thanks for the video, was really looking for some information.
@@brettcopland7983 The energy adjustment settings are if you want to reset the count. If you maybe switched inverter or some fault appeared and you lost the data, you can manually input it again, or ask Sungrow for help. Are you using the app or computer? If you have a string inverter, there are no battery options. Other than that the end-user can reach common parameters and advanced users the advanced options that are on separate tabs. Otherwise there should be no difference for the users regarding the settings. Rated power of generation should be under advanced settings, might be a different number in the list if you have a string inverter.
A separate Question: I believe many others in the Nordics are interested in, what I want to achieve is the below scenarios: 1. Charge the battery at the lowest rates: This as I see it can be achieved by using forced charging schedule. ( I believe I'm right here ?) 2. Avoid using the battery( Let's say I'm charging the car and the price from the grid is negative. ): How can I force inverter to use PV+ grid for a time period ? 3. Sell to the grid from Battery ( Battery is full and I don't foresee much load, so want to sell it to grid at a high price): How can I force the inverter to sell the battery to the grid until a specific SOC?
Hi! 1. This is possible with a home assistans and you need to do this yourself since its a third party option. Sungrow has said for some time that they are working on compability with Tibber, hopefully that is close. 2. It depends on how your charger talks to the plant, but you could set a double time discharge and charge during that time to make the battery confused, if you can reach the advanced settings you can either set 100% on backup (off-grid setting) or compulsory mode and "stop". 3. This is not a general possibility, but if you can reach advanced settings, you can force it to discharge a certain amount, but you need to actively stop it before the battery is completely depleted.
