Hi Mike. I run a small 80+ acre ranch in New Brunswick Canada. Watching your videos over the past years has helped me get a better understanding of ranching and overall helped me become a better farmer/rancher. I appreciate you and all your hard work
I was a dairy farmer my whole life and decided that I wanted a change to learn more about cattle, I went to work for a beef operation at the start of calving, never jumped over more gates in my life
Did the starting at 9 PM C-section. Picked a near 100 lb calf out of a slough wearing school clothes, then had to change clothes and run the 200 yard dash to catch the school bus. Pulled a few calves, pulled one so hard it took a couple of weeks for it to be able to walk. Calves are just plain old cute as they come and adding to the core herd is really rewarding.

Just realized, the closest I've been to a cattle ranch is the meat counter at the local Safeway, yet this is the third calving season I've been to with you. Thanks for the reality check.
I keep birthing records. For tagging, I use orange tags on heifer calves and white on the bulls. Makes for easy sorting and the guys at the sale barn love it. They say they wished more did that, as it makes sorting prior to heading into the ring a breeze. Everyone has their own way.
I just love it how the cows will stare at you while you are talking! Oh I know they're not looking at you for no other good reason then they think you have food! LOL
Hey mik, Congratulations 🎊🎉 you're an uncle and now you're going to have to be on the lookout constantly because some cow somewhere along the line is going to be dropping a calf lol. But you got this you're a seasoned veteran in delivering calves it was good to see blond cow and I can't wait for the 30 in 30. So what's next for OWL keep up the good work and see you in the next video🤠🐄👍
Hello Mike. Love your channel It's Wonderful to see the Cow's& Love seeing the new Calf's i have learned alot about cow's i thank you again. Ido hope your doing well you Look very tried Love from NJ
👍👍👍. Thanks for great intro to the season and what to expect. I’ve not comment much but this will be one and a half years following what I can and I do plan this year to support you even more I hope. Ending was so worth waiting for though surprised calf wasn’t black. Hope that’s a good omen cus sure is beautiful if can find its momma. Here’s to great weather this year and not many problems. And more great videos especially the unedited. I almost sent a bar of soap cus some words never heard so many times before and OOPS 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yay! Congrats! I so wish I was there in person to experience the ranch and the calving. Still trying to find the right van to turn into a camper and get on the road. Your ranch is number one on my list of places to see in person!
Your commitment and entire effort towards this time of year (calving) is extraordinary! I love checking in on your progress. I wish you all the best of luck to you and your family during this annual trying time.
Hey Mike: Maybe you mentioned this, but for those of us in the cow business, we may get one paycheck a year. Hope you have an easy calving season and not too many 2 AM delivery helping
Glad to see your first calf of the season hit the ground running. Looks like a nice one. You gonna keep her as a replacement? Good luck, I'll be watching every show.
I'm glad you said that I've been scrapped for a long time I will get the we'll get that hopefully this next week it won't be down until almost 30 years I gotta be it big ironed for a while tire original good job
On 6 acres we raise 9 head beef, 20 Mangalista pigs, 10 Alpacas, 5 Pygora goats, plus Chickens, Turkeys, Guineas, and Muscovy Ducks, our best time is when we got bottle calves, were able to keep them healthy and growing. The hardest is when you lose one!!! Since our kids are all grown and gone. LOL ( never gone ). All our feed is out of pocket and having great contacts that have farms. We buy 90% of our hay and grain is from those farmers, the rest we buy from the farmers exchange. We are on our 2nd year and love it!
Hey Mike. Just a suggestion. As every year you do keep some replacement calves why not keep the first female calf born as replacement? Just a thought that came to my mind. First calves like Faith everyone remembers
Wow your cows are not nervous around you.....Last time I saw cows from my Grandfather's farm in Summerland British Columbia and all cows ran away from me......it kinda hurt my feelings. LOL.
Wish I was rhere. Wishing Jake a speedy recovery
Welcome number 2 . Be well Jake 🙏🏻💙
