Oda has a library of all the characters kinda like how we have wiki online lol He uses it as a reference often and i mean it makes sense, there are over 800 named characters in this story
The anime also has a thing of switching art styles and animation for certain arcs so that it fits the theme or island they're on. The islands and certain places are actual real places on Earth while some are made up. The giant elephant is called Zuneisha in the anime but he is also a reference to Elephant Rock in real life. Same with Wano being a representation of old Japan and other places also having references or easter eggs to real life. The world of One Piece is on their own planet rather than Earth because there's too many places in general in terms of ground-level islands, underwater islands and sky islands. A lot of these "Islands" are the size of states or countries as well. The planet itself is said to have around 7 moons and is between double the size of Earth to being a little bit bigger than Jupiter(estimated size as far as we know). So this planet is HUGE in comparison to ours. So when people ask why One Piece is 1000 episodes, just remember this video and the size of the planet itself because this is NOT Earth like non-fans think it is🤣
Is Zuneshia also a reference to Terry Pratchett Discworld? A disc world held up by elephants on the back of a sea turtle flying through the void of space? Which is also a reference to the world elephants of Hindu mythology. "On the wondrous dais rose a throne, And he its pedestal whose lotus hood With ominous beauty crowns his horrible Sleek folds, great Mahapudma; high displayed He bears the throne of Death. There sat supreme With those compassionate and lethal eyes, Who many names, who many natures holds; Yama, the strong pure Hades sad and subtle, Dharma, who keeps the laws of old untouched"

13:17 Don't forget: these are just the imagery that matches a bunch of criteria: it has to fit in the creators narrative for the AMV, it has to look good so it can't be something the anime screwed up (which it unfortuantely has from time to time), it cannot contain any story spoilers (I imagine TONS got disqualified based on this!) and so on.
imagine they find the one piece and its just oda sitting in a room on laughtale and he goes WTF are you guys doing here the stories not done yet! lol
