South Africa must introduce a system were politicians must go on retirement at the age of 65 years.

Have you ever asked yourself as the Minister why is that young people don't want to go to TVET colleges? Let me tell you why, in most cases companies prefer candidates who graduated in Universities. That makes us question the quality of TVET College qualifications.

I want to differ with you on this one. Every company looks to employ a person who is skilled and have experience. Depending on the nature of the job at hand, in most cases when we speak about National building, a nation will never be build by university graduates. TVET skills is of so much importance in a sense that we should not move away from apprenticeship but rather add on to it with professional development in regards to the links of furthering TVET artisans to further their studies at universities to attain degrees and even masters.

Innovation is good, but surely priority is engineers who can do routine infrastructure maintenance and repair.

The Quality of those who graduate is so bad. You find someone with N6 who has never done practicals. ANC destroyed the apprenticeship system and brought a learnership program which was a frustration for many black students.

And the biggest problem with the learnership programs is the companies
You get to a a company that don't even care about your progress in the career that you are in
You are just there because they want to meet BBBEE requirements

Apprenticeships remain a key and must be made available when students exita their course's..ncv level 4 which is NQF level 4 must be rated atleast at a higher level more especially when you have a trade test. Afterall we're the chain that will keep the belt rolling.

This is all good and well but until economic policy reforms are instituted, notably beneficiation of our local resources; nothing will change. South Africa, like much of Africa still employs extractive economic policies conjured up by the colonial system of the west where mineral resources are mined, shipped abroad and then imported back as finished products. Hence, our perpetual current account deficit
Moreover, Special economic zones were identified to mitigate rampant urban migration and create employment opportunities in the rural areas but with a declining manufacturing base, even those engineers and artisans are more likely to be unemployed in real innovations to transform the economy or will leave for better opportunities abroad.
60% of South Africa's economy is consumer based hence extractive mining, logistics, financial services and FMCG'S are thriving economic sectors but offer little or temporary employment absorption opportunities especially now with rampant improvements in IT. China, India, Vietnam, South Korea, Malaysia are not Asian giants based on consumption only but manufacturing.
To harness the relationship with industry, centres of higher education and to rid the country of skill mismatch, we need a huge push towards manufacturing and that starts with beneficiation of our minerals. This is not a penicillin but it's a start.

Blade talks in proportions instead of actual numbers. He is a snake talking deceptively to paint a more tasteful picture. It's not an interview if Mandela isn't invoked either...shameless
