The Miami Dolphins: The Art of the Tank

  • Nothing special here, just wanted to do a commentary on a blatant tank job.
    Did anyone mention that the Dolphins are trying to tank yet? It's something that they should've done years ago, but have decided to do in the most blatant way possible. I don't necessarily disapprove of it, but when considering a variety of factors, the Dolphins will more than likely fail at it.
    Why? Well, this video will explain in probably the most shallow way possible. Isn't that what shitposting is all about? Please?

      Endless Rock ! It wouldn’t have mattered, Burrow is a great QB but draft a quarterback number one and no Lineman is the most idiotic thing you could do it would get your qb murdered, the dolphins lack structure tho here the players didn’t want to tank cause they knew they’d be out of a job literally. They currently hold the 4th(in progress) a mid teens pic and likely another one in the 20s. Not that bad plus two second round pics

    So like the whole reason behind not changing the GM is that Chris Grier has been killing the draft. Charles Harris was Adam Gase’s pick and he’s gotten 4 sacks the past 3 seasons. Steven Ross has been learning a lot and he finally gave Chris Grier full control of the roster AND the draft, before it was the coaches that controlled the roster. Now that Grier has been involved and Flores has come in we have a good culture, which is shaving off the bad results of the previous (which is why we had to trade star players) and now were one of the least penalized teams in the league after years of being one of the worst. Chad O’Shea has been doing wonders for an offense that has been historically inept, for a stretch being top 5 in red zone conversions for a few weeks. The defense needs some work but we’ve also had inordinate amounts of injuries and we may have to alter our fitness and health staff

    • @chrismas9448
      @chrismas9448 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok yea that’s great but your not close to the playoffs and your going to get the fourth pick if the lions lose this week. Why even defend your team like there good? ( there ok, not saying they are bad ) but you should be wanting to be bad to get that first pick. Now your team is winning against teams like the eagles who may even make the playoffs! So what’s even the point of arguing this video? Just wanted to throw that out there. See ya

    • @LouRyanYT
      @LouRyanYT 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@chrismas9448 The Redskins, Lions, and Giants are not picking a QB. Burrow will go 1 to Cincy, and Tua will probably fall to us at 4/5 (Tua> Burrow IMO). As a fan of a team you NEVER want to see them purposefully losing... this season has actually given me hope into the future of this team. Brian Flores is clearly inspiring this team to win, something that was not present when Gase was in charge. If they have at least 2 good drafts, the Fins could turn out to be one of the scarier AFC teams in a couple years.

    Didn’t the NBA get sick of the 76ers “process” and forced GM to resign and made it harder to tank? I think even the existence of the draft lottery deters blatant throwing for draft picks.
    I don’t think the NFL will ever punish teams for throwing since there’s a fine line between incompetence and forfeiting a season. Unless it gets to being a problem that it hurts them in the profit margin.

    • @UrinatingTree

    • @Traysandor
      @Traysandor 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The NBA is a total joke. You're either competing for a championship or tanking. They should just exile most of the Eastern Conference to be a development league, it's clear no one good wants to play in the East anyways (unless you're Boston, but that's more for nostalgia and not recent successes). The two teams unlucky enough to get free wins due to other teams tanking get a free ticket to the conference finals.

      Yes. Adam $ilverstein forced Sam Hinkie out and has put a puppet in Bryan Colangelo to mess it up. Unfortunately for $ilverstein, Colangelo loves himself so much he made burner accounts to defend himself and resigned in shame. So $ilverstein has put in Elton Brand to throw boatloads of money at 4 players to lock them in a mediocre team to hold them back in financial flexibility to build a true contending team

    I think you are right with most things tree but the dolphins have an incredibly bright future, they have gone 4-11 with a very young team, they already have a good group of very young players, raekwon McMillan, Jerome baker, Preston Williams, Michael dieter, Christian Wilkins, Davon godchaux, all of these guys are quietly becoming great, could well be pro bowlers in a few years, a few should have made it this year but no one knows them (no-name defence 2.0 anyone???) Devante Parker and Xavian Howard are already superstars, they literally only need a good OT, Qb, RB and Edge, we have 5 1st rounders and 4 second rounders in the next two years along with a shit ton of cap space they should hit on most of them. Flores seems like the real deal, the team love him unlike Gase who has supposedly lost the locker room in New York already. I think the Dolphins have a very bright future and will end up as one of the best teams in the league, once B and B retire AFC East will stop becoming a joke division, Bills and Phins will both compete for it a lot and it will be on of the strongest divisions in the league

    All teams should be publicly owned entities. No one person should have that much control and money especially when these stadiums are essentially tax burdens on the rest of us. These people are so wealthy powerful they answer to basically no one. If their books were forced to be open and everyone saw exactly how much they are making from tickets, air time, licensing... You would quickly see why these sports are so deeply engrained in our society from universities onward. Consider the fact of these universities existing to in effect produce athletes which the majority of time we see one individual move on to make more money than all other students and staff combined. This structure has turned the majority of us into elements of their charity in time, money, knowledge and even life.

All of your successful teams (Patriots, Saints, Ravens, etc) get players in the positions they are the most comfortable with and can use their skills to maximum effectiveness. Add to that some good discipline, preparation, play-calling, standards and boom! Playoff/super bowl contender. You don't have to have a team full of Kamaras, Bradys, Bosas and Ramseys to be a postseason threat.

He and John Lynch were the culture change and they came in wheeling and dealing pretty much turn over an entire roster and now the fruits have come forth. Stalwart players at every level while nailing it with several UDFAs. You can't just tank to tank. I think the Colts belong in that category too. While tanking didn't lead them to many Super Bowl victories, it's kept them very relevant for the past 20 years. The only problem was that they shared a conference with by far the longest dynasty in NFL history. Swap out the Patriots for any NFC East team, and the Colts' strategy of tanking for quarterbacks (twice) would have led them to several more championship appearances.

      You can tell he got all this information from Media outlets at the start of the season.
      This guy forgot to mention the Dolphins have played over 85 players this season. And have arguably the shitiest roster next to the Bengals.
      Coach Flo got them to 4 wins. 4 WINS with this roster. Might even get 5 if the Pats rest their starters this Sunday.

  • @formerlyknownaseasrob
    @formerlyknownaseasrob 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Unpopular opinion: Fire the GM and let Flores have Bill B control. Hell, use the Pats style of scouting, I remember seeing something about how most teams use one of very few services for scouting but the Pats use their own scouts from none of these. It’ll take probably a couple of years to properly put it in place but why not. Plus, if the Giants trade back with someone desperate for Tua (to the tune of like 3 1’s, 2 2’s and a 4th and conditional 5th), they have their franchise tackle for years in Andrew Thomas, assuming the Skins take Young. Even if not, I’ve gained respect for Flores in how he’s convinced his guys to play with a chip on their shoulder but do so in a way that’s been disciplined (good tackling on defense, one of the 5 best teams this year in fewest penalties and lowest penalty yardage). Is my idea extreme? Probably. It’s blatant ripping off of New England but it’s doing it in a way that hasn’t been tried recently. Problem is, if the Phins didn’t let Nick Saban have that level of control, who the hell realistically thinks they’ll let Brian Flores who isn’t even asking for it? I don’t even think they’ll actually do it but I do think they should.
