    Got these on my Lancer Evo X running over 400bhp. Best pad I've used so far. Standard Brembo pads with the 4 pot callipers are awful. Night and day difference with the Brembo callipers and EBC pads with C hook floating discs. Sublime!

    If I taught one thing while being racing instructor never let go of your wheel like that. =|
    Anyways yellow pads are amazing if you actually track or do a LOT of heat cycling braking. I highly recommend the Red stuff a lot better low temp bite, braking modulation/feel, and the brake dust on it washes off easily. The red can heat cycle but it takes like 4 really hard laps on Laguna Seca to do so.

    I have ebc yellow on a bmw z4 3.0si with classic brakes (single piston) and they don’t last too much and eat the disc too otherwise they brake well. Heat resistance is not high. If you have cooling ducts or a light car with big brakes they may do well on a racing track. But they are not advertised as track pads anyway.
    They brake well when cold so for sporty street driving they do the job very well
    For the price they are good imo. I don’t know if you can but something better unless you get something more expensive
    Awesome car btw

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah these are just a good inexpensive street pad i would call them i still prefer more aggressive pads but for daily use the trade off is excess dust, noise and rotor wear.

    I have these in my Land Rover Discovery 3 and are brilliant. Great on track (just kidding). Seriously good when towing my ex army trailer. They stop incredibly well. Gives great confidence when they are stopping > 5 tonnes going down steep hills in North Wales!

    I agree in your disclaimer that braking performance and feel is subjective. I bought a set of Hawk street 5.0 and for everyday street driving it was fine but unusable and dangerous at the track. I went back to OEM brembo pads and haven’t looked back. I appreciate you continuing to test, and curating these wonderful videos.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes the Hawk 5.0 are a street only pad never would i suggest those on track the HP+ are for light track use and the DTC versions

  • @RadDadisRad

    I use EBC yellow stuff on my Ram truck and they work amazing for towing. I have 285 series tires and I can lock them up and that gets the ABS involved on a dry surface.

      I just put a set in the 1969 Camaro Z28 Pro Touring im working on, see my IG and they were too powerful so i switched up, on the Alfa these work amazing on street and glad to hear you Ram works well also with these. What is your pad life so far?

    You needed to make a statement that the calipers you are running on your car are a BBK type. This will also make a huge difference on how the pads will react and grab. The rotors are another area where as if one is running slotted or drilled the pads will not build up heat as fast and will have better fell through out the pedal range.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this video is just about the pads not the calipers or rotors

  • @kylesmith9048
    @kylesmith9048 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just ordered these front and rear for my 16’ M235i along with dimpled and slotted Zimmermann rotors. Also flushing the brake fluid during the install. Excited to see the improvement. On my previous car (e90 335i) I installed Hawk HPS 5.0 pads with Stoptech drilled and slotted rotors and was disappointed. They weren’t bad but just barely better than stock and I had higher expectations.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the Hawk 5.0 are marginally better than stock by design but less dust and slightly higher temp range than most OEM pads

    • @kylesmith9048
      @kylesmith9048 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@autofanaticcars Thanks for the response! If you say hawk 5.0s are marginally better than oem, what do you think about yellowstuff? Marginally better than hawks?

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the EBC Yellow is a great street pad and very affordable thats what I seem to like about them. Performance can be awesome on some cars and marginally better than OEM on others it all depends how the rest of the brake system works in conjunction with the friction materials. On the Alfa which is a brake by wire system the EBC Yellow works excellent but on a BMW M3 or Ford Mustang they are decent

    • @kylesmith9048
      @kylesmith9048 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@autofanaticcars I’m confident I’ll like them for my m235i (~3500lbs). I think it’s electronically assisted brake by wire but I’m really not sure. I do have oem brembo calipers (4 piston F & 2 piston R). I think the new pads, 2 piece/floating dimpled & slotted rotors and brake fluid flush will be a significant upgrade over what I had. Thank you for your responses!

  • @Eazyturk

    I have the EBC Yellowstuff on my car and I hate them. They fade very quickly when driving aggressively... I wasn't even able to stop one time. EBC has been helpful to replace them but I'm unsure which EBC would be better suited for me.
    I don't find these bite too much for me when they get used on the road a bit and I'm using Dot4 brake fluid

    Does endless make pads for this car? Im still waiting for you try out their mx72 pad. I’ve had ebc yellow in the past. Mx72 has better cold bite, less dust, last waaaay longer and dead silent compare to ebc yellow without loosing warm and hot bite like a typical ceramic low dust pad. Only downside is its price.

    Please use the spot meter when recording in-car, to expose for the outside. That constant blow out can make it tough to watch.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      not sure how to do that can you tell me? i used a new camera mount this time around and i am still tweaking it, i want to start removing the rear view mirrors to give a much better frontal view.

    • @NormalShock
      @NormalShock 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@autofanaticcars It's normally called spot meter.. With late model dSLRs you can set it to meter a specific point within the field of view. With GoPro, I have two, the Session and the Hero5. With the Session you can choose Spot Meter and it will meter the center of the field of view (so it has to be pointed at the area to be metered).
      But with the Hero5 (probably the later models too) you hold your finger on the viewscreen on the back. A box of four corners will appear, continue holding down the finger and that box will shrink down to the area your finger is touching. Now you can lift and touch other parts of the screen and it will lock the exposure to the area (instead of spot metering they call this one exposure lock).
      So, for example, you set up the GoPro on a headrest mount and you capture the whole windshield. Ok, now do the press and hold, then tap the brightest area of the windshield, then hit the checkmark. I usually tap the passenger side. It is now locked into exposing for just that area, effectively exposing for only the outside view, instead of the, relatively, dark interior.
      This guy's video is a good example of what spot metering/exposure lock can do:
      th-cam.com/video/XyCNF8AkBTA/w-d-xo.html
      It is specific to GoPro but illustrates the concept very well for how most any modern camera can accommodate for exposure.
