Loved how the bass Adam was playing was not tuned to Edge's guitar and the look he gave when Edge told him - priceless.
Didn't notice just got lost in the moment.

@@jamesadcock5235 Maybe they are used to play the song in a lower key so Bono is not forced to sing high notes, as they do with many live songs, and Edge told Adam to play it on the original key.
at first I hadnt noticed but so true definitely sounded off key until he adjusted and then changed bass
@@fastica The original recording is tuned a half step down (like a lot of U2 recordings. Sometimes bands do this to help a vocalist, sometimes to put the guitar chords into easier fingerings, sometimes because lower tuned guitars just produce a better tone). The initial bass Adam had was tuned to E flat match the recording and he was indeed matching the original note, but they decided to have him switch from an E flat to an E-tuned bass to match Edge and they played the thing a half step higher than the recording. TLDR: the bass player was right 😁.
What is really cool about this besides seeing two members of my favorite band show up is how much fun they seemed to have doing it. It shows you how down to earth and good people they are. I'm so angry because I was invited to go that night and decided not to. I would have seen the Edge and Adam that night, two members of my favorite band. Yes I've seen them live 21 times but to see them in a setting like that would have been incredible.

Why wouldn't he? He's a craftsman and I believe wouldn't dream of lowering anything because of the number of fans in front of him. I obviously can't speak for him bit certainly believe that's how he would feel and apart from that it must be a real buzz to shake it up a bit thing's can get so boring so predictable 🤔🤣❤️
This was supremely cool of them to do this. Boy remains one of my favorite U2 albums and particularly, this song. Cheers.
Let me clear things up, after Streets, Edge picked up the standard-tuned Explorer for Out of Control, Adam still had the half-tuned bass on from Streets, Edge obviously noticed right away, so we had to give Adam the standard-tuned bass, he wasn’t aware of that at the time, shit happens! Of note, they never do Out of Control in standard-tuning, but that night, it was!
The drummer is umm.. in need of practice.. love how Adam and edge just went along like pros!!
He was probably just very exited with adrenaline. But I agree, his tempo and play was al over the place. You clearly see edge and Adam just going along.

U2 played at Madison Square Garden for a few days and showed up on their night off.

This drummer is out of control lol. Can't really blame him, if I was playing with the actual Adam Clayton & the Edge I'd be losing my shit but god damn is he rushing the hell out of this song

Awkward moment when Adam uses wrong standard tuned bass at start but great recovery.
There's no such thing as "wrong standard tuning" - it's either standard tuning (EADG) or something else (probably a drop D) - but as a pro, I'm surprised and disgusted he couldn't transpose on the fly and play the song in the same key but on a different fret position and not have to change basses. It simply cements my thoughts that Clayton is a fairly rubbish bass player and not an accomplished musician at all - absolute proof in fact. Shocking.
@@dominiccrimmings6925 hi can you explain that in lay man's terms so that bass wasn't tuned right and he could've played the key by going lower down the fretboard. Any bass you recommend to learn on thanks
Dominic Crimmings he couldn’t just use a standard tuned bass cuz some of the notes in the song require a d# on the low end only achieved through tuning half step down

the edge was adjusting to play in a different key due to bass being outta tune at start... mad
The bass was in a different tuning - Eb standard as opposed to standard tuning which is what Edge was playing in - hence why Adam changes basses midway through - as the bass player has two different basses one in Eb and the other in standard tuning
